Nazik Gölü (Bitlis, Türkiye) Güneybatısından Alınan N3 Karotunun Palinolojik İlk Bulguları
Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi/ Journal of the Institute of Natural & Applied Sciences 23 (3): 291-296, 2018 Geliş Tarihi: 12.11.2018 Araştırma Makalesi / Research Article Kabul Tarihi: 23.11.2018 Nazik Gölü (Bitlis, Türkiye) Güneybatısından Alınan N3 Karotunun Palinolojik İlk Bulguları Güldem Kamar Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi, Mühendislik Fakültesi, Jeoloji Mühendisliği Bölümü, Van, Türkiye e-posta: [email protected] Özet: Bu çalışma, Nazik Gölü (Bitlis) N3 sediman karotunun palinolojik ilk bulgularını içermektedir. Preliminary Palynological Findings of theN3 Core from Southwest of Lake Nazik (Bitlis, Turkey) Abstract: This study includes preliminarily palynological findings of the N3 sedimentcore from Lake Nazik (Bitlis). The core was taken from 9 m water depth by using gravity corer from the southwestern side of Lake Nazik. According to palynological data from the samples of this core, 55 cm in length, herbaceous palaeoflora was been dominated during the deposition surroundings of the lake. The palaeoflora was mainly dominated by Poaceae pollen grains are similar to the recent flora and points out the dominance of steppe vegetation around the lake. Strong Ground Motion Characteristics from the 17 August 1999 Kocaeli, Turkey Earthquake
BOLLETTINO DI GEOFISICA TEORICA ED APPLICATA VOL. 43, N. 1-2, PP. 37-52; MAR.-JUN. 2002 Strong ground motion characteristics from the 17 August 1999 Kocaeli, Turkey earthquake A. AKINCI Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, Roma, Italy (Received July 2, 2001; accepted December 21, 2001) Abstract - The 17 August 1999 Kocaeli, Turkey earthquake (Mw.=.7.4, USGS) occurred in the western part of the North Anatolian Fault Zone about 80 km east of Istanbul. The mechanism of the main event was almost a pure right-lateral strike- slip, and the aftershock distribution indicates that the rupture was located toward the western end of the North Anatolian Fault Zone. The earthquake affected a wide area in the Marmara region, as well as the city of Istanbul. Most of the damage and fatalities occurred in towns located on the narrow, flat shoreline of the Sea of Marmara. Since the broken fault segment traversed the densely populated and industrialized east Marmara region, damage was enormously high. Widespread liquefactions caused bearing capacity losses and consequent foundation failu- res in the Adapazari region, as well as extensive subsidence along the shoreline in Gölcük (Gulf of Izmit) and Sapanca. The earthquake struck also the western suburbs of Istanbul, the Avcilar region, causing severe damage on buildings even though the distance from the epicenter was about 80 km. In this study, we discuss the ground motion characteristics, as well as directivity and soil effects of recorded ground acceleration of the Kocaeli earthquake. Strong-motion data were obtained from the networks managed by the Bogaziçi University, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute and by the General Director of Disaster Affairs, Earthquake Research Department. -

Specimens were sampled by a shore seine net from Lake Eğirdir (A. iconii), Lake Salda (A. saldae), Lake Burdur (A. sureyanus) and Lake Acıgöl (A. transgrediens) during 2014-2015. A total of 1246 specimens are examined (A. iconii: n=206; A. saldae: n=525; A. sureyanus: n= 350; A. transgrediens: n=165). The maximum age for A. iconii, A. saldae and A. sureyanus was 4 years and for A. transgrediens was 5 years. The values of the b parameter of the length- weight equations for A.transgrediens, A. saldae, A. sureyanus and A. iconii populations are 3.027, 2.587, 3.221 and 2.713, respectively. A new maximum total length of 6.1 cm for A. transgrediens is reported. Key words: Anatolia; endemic species; killifish; Aphaniidae; Cyprinodontidae; length-weight relationship; age.
