Program Western Australia Symphony Orchestra, Dallas W111d Symphony, Malaysia Philharmonic and the Helsingborg Symphony among others. As a soloist, he has performed concerts and masterclasses around the world including Please silence all electronic devices for the duration of the concert. Thank you. the most prestigious universities and conservatories. Currently, Tim has three solo CDs the Albany Record label including ''Raw Emotions," consisting of 4 concertos from 0 orth America ,vith the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Buzbee also recorded a cd Hammer It! Rick Peperkamp entitled Eruptions, consisting of standard excerpts for low-brass section for the Albany Record label. He has been soloist ,vith the Melbourne Symphony, Iceland Symphony, JABBERWOCKY David Gillingham Singapore Symphony, Acapulco Symphony, Marshall Symphony, and the ''Pershing Own" Army Band in Washington D.C. Buzbee recently was asked to be a featured (born 1947) artist at the Texas Music Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Buzbee was also recently featured on the front cover of the International Tuba Euphonium Sang till Lotta Jan Sandstrom Association Journal and has been featured in several other magazines in the past. Tim is (born 1954) on the faculty at Australia National Academy of Music and The University of Melbourne. Tim enjoys spending any free time ,vith his ,vife Jessica Buzbee, trombone Jessica, and their five kids, and the two family dogs which think they are children Jacob Hilton, Tim Schachtschneider, tlfba number 6 and 7!!! Three Furies James Grant Edwards clinician Jessica Buzbee has enjoyed an exciting career as a trombonist and forming artist. She was the ,vinner of the first prize in the international solo Decidedly jocular (born 1950 mbone competitions, Concours Branimir Slokar 2000 in S,vitzerland and Lieksa Very clean-gently inebriated Combone Competition 1998 in Finland, where she amazed the judges ,vith her Relentless beautiful tone and crystal clear articulations. In 2002,Jessica received the Swedish honor Kristallen den fina (Crystal Prize). \Vhile attending the University of Gothenburg in Sweden,Jessica studied ,vith the trombonists Ingemar Roos and Christian Lindberg. After graduation,Jessica went on to France to study ,vith Iviichael Bequet and later to Chicago, Illinois, to study with Arnold Jacobs,Jay Friedman and Edward Kleinhammer. During her stay in Chicago, she was a About the Artist . .. member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, where she worked ,vith such noted conductors as Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim. Jessica is currently teaching trombone at the Australian National Academy of Music Tim has won jobs in 8 different countries! Eccleston 2016 i Abstract: Post-World War II in Canada was a time during which major organizations were born to foster the need for a sense of Canadian cultural identity. The Canada Council for the Arts, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Canadian Music Centre led the initiative for commissioning, producing, and disseminating this Canadian musical legacy. Yet despite the wealth of repertoire created since then, the contemporary music of Canada is largely unknown both within and outside its borders. This annotated bibliography serves as a concise summary and evaluative resource into the breadth of concertos and solo works written for oboe, oboe d’amore, and English horn, accompanied by an ensemble. The document examines selected pieces of significance from the mid-twentieth century to present day. Entries discuss style and difficulty using the modified rating system developed by oboist Dr. Sarah J. Hamilton. For several years I was the third horn player at the National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Greece (ERT) and I try to explore this position as much as I can, and aim to help not only young horn players who are auditioning for this chair, but also young composers and conductors to reach a closer understanding of the function of the horn section. For my research, I studied historical and musicological elements, I read orchestration books, I held interviews with great horn players, I studied scores, I wrote down my own personal experiences and reflections and I played in all four horn positions in the orchestra, observing at the same time the different roles of each chair.     RADIO IN THE 78 RPM ERA (1920-1948) PROFESSOR JEREMY SUMMERLY 17 SEPTEMBER 2020 At 7.10 pm on 15 June 1920, a half-hour broadcast was given by Australian prima donna Dame Nellie Melba (‘the world’s very best artist’). Singing from a workshop at the back of the Marconi Wireless and Telegraph Company, the 59-year old soprano described her Chelmsford recital as ‘the most wonderful experience of my career’. The transmission was received all around Europe, as well as in Soltan-Abad in Persia (now Arak in Iran) to the East, and Newfoundland (at the time a Dominion of the British Empire) to the West. Dame Nellie’s recital became recognized as Britain’s first official radio broadcast and the Daily Mail (predictably, perhaps, in its role as sponsor) described the event as ‘a great initiation ceremony; the era of public entertainment may be said to have completed its preliminary trials’. The Radio Corporation of America had been founded a year earlier, run by a young Russian- American businessman David Sarnoff. Sarnoff believed that ‘broadcasting represents a job of entertaining, informing and educating the nation, and should therefore be distinctly regarded as a public service’, words that were later echoed more famously by John Reith of the British Broadcasting Company. On 11 May 1922, daily radio transmissions of an hour began from the 7th floor of Marconi House at London’s Aldwych. The Marconi Company’s London station was known as 2LO and its first concert (for voice, cello, and piano) was broadcast on 24 June; the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) broadcast from Marconi House on 7 October.
