The Callisburg ISD Clothes Closet is up and running. We will need school clothing for the needy kids in our area. We request that any such items donated be clean and on hangars. Also, there is a continuing need for underwear, shoes and socks, items that usually are not donated. Several things have happened recently that I would like to share with you. The Lake Kiowa Kiwanis Club has stepped up to the plate and responded to our appeal for clothes racks. The club has donated six clothes racks for hanging clothes, which fills a tremendous need. In addition to that most welcome act, club members and their spouses decided to augment the Clothes Closet Contingency Fund by donating $300 to help the facility address unanticipated needs. Something killed them and most likely it was a contagious disease that must be diagnosed by a professional and dealt with this year. This is the second month in a row with sales exceeding $60,000. Some new things that were tried turned out to be successful. During a very busy three-day Fourth of July weekend, the Lodge had the pleasure of serving a tremendous number of people on Friday and Saturday, with a highlight of the weekend being the classy brunch on Sunday. Those who attended this event said the food was some of the best they had ever had. Comparisons were made to brunches served at such well-known places as the Gaylord and The Wooten. Chef Michael hopes to prepare many more of these types of meals, so keep checking the CommuniQué, the Web site, and gate electronic signs for opportunities to take advantage of what is being offered.

Chef Michael provided a delectable array of choices while a majestic eagle greeted diners.

Sue Eagle and Nancy Spencer John Perpich at the piano provided enjoyed their brunch and a graceful tone to the Champagne entertainment. Brunch.

Mickey Genzel served the Roast Top Round of Beef.

Chef Michael’s new menu offerings are detailed on page 30.
