I, Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of N.S.S. The unit hasn’t yet made any charges against the law and moreover the activities are creating good and better relations and responsibilities in the society. Neither the Programme officers nor the volunteer secretaries had used their official dignity for any individual self benefit. And last, all the details in the report submitted here are true and real.

ABOUT OUR NSS UNITS

The National Service Scheme units 42A, 42B of N.S.S college Pandalam, has constantly been involved in the activities at grass root level. The intention of our volunteers has been directed to do well in order to make constructive changes in the surrounding society. Our unit is not isolated but gifted with the participation of all the faculties within the college. We were given great support by the Principal in the initiatives like Palliative Care Unit programs, Red Ribbon Club activities, Sandhwanam project, Nutritious food for specially disabled children etc. The residence of both Pallickal Grama Panchayath and Pandalam Municipality has been witnessing the changes made by NSS unit in their concerned area. The main focus of the unit is to make the society, able to recognize the importance of environment conservation .Our central intentions are to reconstruct, literate and to develop the social environment, to extent our support for the poor ignored and afflicted people, to bring the better of our society through education, to incorporate moral values in young minds in order to serve as a proper guide. We have been doing these activities on continuous bases to nurture seeds of social commitment in the hearts of our volunteers. This kind of socialization will enable them to impart the exact meaning of selfless service and yield in the production of many enthusiastic young men, in a long run.

GLIMPSE ON THE GENERAL ATTITUDE OF AWATHY A S “THE MOST DEDICATED AND PROMISING VOLUNTEER”

If there is a name for dedication in our NSS units, we prefer our most talented volunteer Aswathy A S as she was mentally fixed up with the organization and the activities take up with it. Such an active and both massive attitude she have. More than of these qualities, she is a most prominent leader, as she was held the position of volunteer secretary of the units for one year. Aswathy A S is in much friendly minded. As a volunteer, she have been keeping good and better relation between people and moreover actively engaged with the activities organized for the social benefit. As she keeps both the studies and social activities in an equal manner, the support from the college and students are also heavy with her.

CAMP REPORT BY ASWATHY A S

This is the submission report of the two day special camp attended by me, Aswathy A S, the volunteer of National Service Scheme of N.S.S. College Pandalam from 11-3-2016 to 12-3-2016 at Govt. College, , Trivandrum, organized by the Youth Welfare Board, Govt. of Kerala and the NSS unit of Govt. College Nedumangad.

The program was officially named as YES 2016, and which was inaugurated by sri.P.S.Prasanth, the vice chairman of Youth welfare board, Kerala. It‟s a Two day National Level Seminar on the topic, “Youth for Social Transformation”. The camp includes with a group of programs; the National Seminar, Exhibition, Koodorukkam Kuttukark, Puzhayodoppam, Thanal Maram Nadeel, Clean campus & Green campus program, Nadeel Ulsavam, Best Idea Contest, Social Survey, Medical Camp, and Tribal Colony Visit. And these were the major sections of the camp.

The seminar inauguration was made by sri.Dr.K.S.Chandrasekharan Nair, the Director of School of Business management and Legal studies, Kerala University. The seminar took initiative in improving the qualities of every volunteer and to acknowledge about the participation of Youth in current affairs and also to the better movement of the society.

Koodorukkam Kuttukark, is a program focused on creating a shelter for the poor students and it was officially inaugurated by the Youth Officer of NSS, India, sri. P. Sajith Babu. The State Liaison Officer of NSS, Dr.B.Prakash done the inauguration of the Thanal Maram Nadeel project, which is the part of the Green Campus program. Dr.S.Venumohan, NSS Coordinator of Kerala University done the inauguration of the Exhibition.

After the inaugural functions, the seminar started with the major sections, the first were the academic sections related with Youth empowerment. It generates a strong determination in every participants. After the lunch, a section based on Agriculture and Youth were carried on. The clean campus program and the green campus program were done after the noon time. On the evening there were a section for Best Idea Contest, the volunteers presented their best and dream ideas and the major initiatives taken by them. The sections of the first day completed with that. On the second day, a Tribal Colony Visit were took place and Social Survey program were done at the Colony. And the Medical Camp started before the noon. We were arranged with the lunch at there and we had returned in the evening and then the concluding ceremony takes place. The best groups were appreciated. And it was a delightful experience for me. We left the camp site after the ceremony and reached home at the night.

-TWO DAY NATIONAL SEMINAR ON ;

“YOUTH FOR SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION”

The youth welfare board of Kerala and the National Service Scheme unit of Govt. College Nedumangad co-ordinately organized a two-day National level Seminar on the topic, “Youth For Social Transformation” on 11th March to 12th March 2016 . The seminar focused to improve the better leadership and volunteer qualities in the participants. Four active volunteers from our NSS unit, Aswathy A S, Jithu R Nair, Geo K Ninan and Vishal V Nair attended the camp. The sections were related with Youth empowerment and it‟s a good experience.

- KEY DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY FOR THREE HOUSES

The key distribution of the program “HOME FOR HOMLESS” organised by National Service Scheme unit of N.S.S College Pandalam was held on 3rd October 2015, at Pullippara ward of Pallickal Gramma Panchayath. Our honorable minister Shri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishanan handed over the keys to two families, Lekshmikuttyamma and Thevi. And the key hand overing ceremony of the last house, made for the family of a poor cancer patient, Rajan, was done by sri.Anto Antony, the honorable MP of Pathanamthitta, it was on 24-12-2016 at Govt: SVHSS Thandanuvila, Pandalam.

-PALLIATIVE CARE PROGRAMS

The primary motive of the programme is to lookafter the poorer and also serve the persons who need a strong mental and physical support in their sorrows and pain. A volunteer group consisting 5 members are going with the palliative nurse Srimathi.Saumya for the palliative-home care visit, thrice a week through the PHC Pandalam. The palliative care unit had also made its appropriate steps towards the society through various awareness campaigns, seminars, programs like old-age home visit, snehanidhi, distribution of necessary materials to the poorer, monetary help for treatments, etc.

-ONE TIME ONE MEAL PROJECT

One Time One Meal program is our attempt to give meal for the necessary people, at least on one time. Our National Service Scheme units visited “Mahatma Janasevana Kendram” for the attempt, on 5-9-2016. So as by this our volunteers prepared meal from their own home, collected and distributed the meal packets to the poor inhabitants and families of the centre. The food packets were opened and ate at the noon, after the prayer by the inhabitants in the centre.

-MAHASAMMELAN

On 31-3-2017, we had conducted a grand „Mahasammelan‟, focused on the attempt to finish our major programs of the year. The program dealt with the programs of, distribution of funds for the treatment of a few cancer patients, money distribution for the poor students of the college, complimentary sent off to our respected Principal of NSS College Pandalam sri.K.Manikandan Nair, honoring our 3rd year volunteer Sethulekshmi L S, NCC Cadet Reshma.R.Nair, those both of them participated in the Republic Day Camp 2017 and Parade held at Delhi, honoring the senior NSS volunteers of the family and the farewell for them.

-SANDHWANAM PROJECT

Sandhwanam Project is one of the prominent attempt of our N.S.S units. The activities aims to extend the services, to the backward sections of our society- to sponsor students who are economically backward, supply study materials to them and ensure the availability of quality food for them, Sahapadikkoru veedu, monetary helps for treatment, cancer relief, etc, Free Tuition classes for poor students, etc are included in Sandhwanam Project.

-NSS SHOW 2016

“NSS SHOW 2016” was the half day cultural-talent fest conducted and coordinated by the National Service Scheme volunteers of NSS College Pandalam. It‟s a massive program to create some memorable moments for the poor inhabitants of “Mahatma Janasevana Kendram”. Its an old-age home, where about 150 elder people are living. So the show focused to make them happy and to create a festival situation for them.

-SAVE ELECTRICITY PROJECT

On February 12th 2016, N.S.S units of Pandalam N.S.S College and Energy Management centre of Kerala combined together and conducted a program called “URJAKIRAN” in the college seminar hall. The main intention of the program was to teach the students how to minimize the usage of electricity. We provided LED bulbs for, as the best electricity savers in the college and the program was inaugurated by Smt. T.K Sathi, Municipal Chairperson of Pandalam .

-NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOR SPECIALLY DISABLED CHILDREN

We started a bright beginning for the distribution of nutritious food at Prakashadhara (school for Specially disabled children, Pathanamthitta ) on November 14th 2015 . As a beginning N.S.S Unit of N.S.S College pandalam sponsored their necessary expenses. It was inaugurated by the then College Principal Dr. D Gopimohan.

-SURVEY & DATA COLLECTION ON DEVELOPMENTAL ISSUE

We had conducted a deep and detailed Survey in the Valliyath Colony of Poozhikkadu region of Pandalam on 10th February 2017. The survey was focused on the health and developmental issues of the area. It‟s a region where nearly about 118 peoples living as families. The survey was focused on collecting information about the necessary wants of the people in the area.

-NSS OFFICIAL UNIT WEBSITE

Another innovative programme done by our unit was we had started our own Website and also we made a facebook page and an email ID so that the public came to know about our unit more easily. Our website URL is www.nsspdmnss.com and the email id is [email protected]. The website inauguration was done by the principal on 30th March 2015.

VILLAGE ADOPTION PROJECTS

-HOME FOR HOMELESS PROJECT HOME -1

We constructed two houses for the volunteers in the past years and we planned to construct next two houses for two widows in Pallickal Gramma Panchayath and we constructed our third house to Lekshmikuttiyamma and the house was handed over on 3rd October 2015.

HOME -2

Our fourth house was given to a widow named Thevi in Pazhakulam. The construction of the house was completely done by the volunteers of our unit. The house was handed over on 3rd October 2015.

HOME -3

We constructed the fifth house for the family of a poor cancer patient, Mr.Rajan in Pallickal Gramma Panchayath. The construction of the house was completed and handed over the house on 24th December 2016.

-CLEAN PANDALAM PROJECT

Pandalam is our adopted community. Clean Pandalam project started with an aim to free pandalam from plastic garbage. It was with the cooperation of Pandalam Municipality, on 24-9-2016 the volunteers started the program on collecting plastic wastes from different portions of Pandalam Town and handed over it to the municipality. We choose the day for the beginning of our important project, as a part of our NSS day celebration.

-ROAD CONSTRUCTION

We reconstructed wrecked Palluthara-Mammoodu road in charumood on 26th December 2015 as a part of seven day camp by hundred of our volunteers as there was no way for the vehicles to pass on or no space even to walk. We got hearty appreciations from MLA Sri.R.Rajesh for doing that successful work.

-PUNNIYAM POOMKAVANAM

“Punniyam Poomkavanam”, cleaning the entire surroundings of „Pandalam Valiyakoickal Sree Dharma Sastha Temple‟, Annadhana mandapam, Chuttuvilakku, etc of Pandalam Valiyakoickal Temple. It was different and great program. We the NSS volunteers took much effort in cleaning the surroundings and also conducted an awareness program to devotes about hygiene. The volunteers also given a „leaflet‟ about the laws and rules by the court, to the visitors of the temple.

-FREE PAINTING FOR HOME

On the month of February 2017, the volunteers of National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam done a money free painting as part of the service. Volunteers bought the things needed and painted the home of a poor cancer patient.

-PRIVATE BUS STAND CLEANING

With the permission from the Pandalam Municipality, we had cleaned the Pandalam Private bus stand and its surroundings on 2-10-2016. The honorable chairperson of Pandalam municipality, Srimathi.T.K.Sathi inaugurated the function in the presence of the programme officer, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

-TRANSPORT BUS CLEANING

Being easier to change the society quick we tried our maximum effort to clean transport buses. It was our duty to make the buses clean and we did it in a successful way on 16th October 2016. And the program was inaugurated by the IC of Pandalam Bus Station.

SANDHWANAM PROJECTS

-ONAM ONAMILLATHAVARKKOPPAM

Onam Onamillathavarkkoppam is one of the best attempt by our units from the past decades also. The primary intention of the program is to make our services useful to the poorer. On 6-9-2016, the honorable MLA of , Sri.Chittayam Gopakumar inaugurated the Onam Onamillathavarkkoppam project of the year and distributed the onam-kit consist of rice, stationery, food items, vegetables and also ona-kodi, the dress materials needed, and it was for 11 poor families of Kurambala region of Pandalam.

-STUDY KIT DISTRIBUTION FOR POOR CHILDREN

The National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam organized a study kit distribution program on 17-6-2016. It aims on the distribution of study materials to 20 economically backward students of Govt: LPS Kadakkadu, Pandalam, who were excellent in academic performance. And the program was inaugurated by the principal of the college, Dr.K.Manikandan Nair in the presence of the programme officer Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

-MONETARY HELP FOR THE ELDERLY

As per the part of „International Day for Elderly‟, on 1-10-16, we had conducted a visit to the Mahatma Janasevana Kendram. It is an old age home, where about 150 elder people are living. We had planned to spent a lack of time there through serving them properly with love and care. Our programme officer Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar handed over the fund that we had brought to meet their overall expenses of one day, to Fr.Paul Daniel (councilor, Mahatma), Rajesh (chairman, Mahatma).

-MONETARY HELP FOR CANCER RELIEF

It is our best attempt through out the decades like a routine program, to serve our fellow beings up to a maximum as possible. As a part of this, we collects funds through collections made by our volunteers from the public, that is through visiting homes and also persons. In the year 2016-2017, we had succeeded in making our services to six economically backward patients affected by cancer.

-MONETARY HELP FOR POOR STUDENTS

The program focused on making our support and hands with the unable poor students. In the year 2016, like the past years, we found a few of students from the campus and contributed a sum of money for their academic purposes.

-FREE TUITION FOR SPECIALLY DISABLED CHILDREN

From the year 2015, We had started another different program which was, Free Tuition Class in Prakashadhara- School for Specially Disabled children. The main idea of the program was made by the volunteers and main initiative was taken by Dr.G.Girijadevi the then programme officer. We are now taking classes for 43 children in prakashadhara and classes are conducted on every Saturdays.

-MONERARY HELP FOR MEDICINES

Moreover than special diseases, many of the needed ones approaches us for a better financial support on their treatment purposes. Up to a level, we also made them comfort and continuing the same with out any disturbances.

-COLLECTION & DISTRIBUTION OF FUND FOR POORER

The main source of income before our all activities were the fund that we are raising from the public. And it was through direct collections made by the NSS volunteers from different homes and persons. Its only used to contribute towards and for social benefits and to the needy.

-FUND DISTRIBUTION FOR CHENNAI RELIEF

As a part of sandhwanam project we collected fund for flood relief in Chennai, with the help of Malayala Manorama Hridayapoorvam project .We collected 5000rs and handed over to them on December 14th 2015.

PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT PROGRAMS

-PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT INAUGURATION

The official inauguration of our best action, a unit for Palliative-Home care, was held on 24th September 2015. A detailed talk on the topic “What is Palliative Care” was given by Shri R.Pradeep Kumar (Programme Officer, N.S.S

Poly Technical College , Pandalam).

-HOME CARE VISIT; THRICE A WEEK

Our Palliative-home care programs of the Palliative Care unit under the National Service Scheme is going on well. The primary motive of the programme is to lookafter the poorer and also serve the persons who need a strong mental and physical support in their sorrows and pain.The programme is still moving with a clean promise of the National Service Scheme volunteers with the co-ordination of the Pandalam Public Health Centre.We are visiting and also doing the beat of best, to the necessary persons thrice a week. A volunteer group consisting five members are going properly in days with the palliative nurse Srimathi.Saumya Samuel for the palliative-home care visit.

-OLD-AGE HOME VISIT

We had conducted visits to the Mahatma Janasevana Kendram, many more times in the year 2016. Its an old age home, where about 150 elder people are living. We had spend a lack of time there, through serving them properly with love and care, done the necessary things they want. We were succeed in making them out of their sorrows for many moments. There, we saw a number of fathers and mothers, those who were avoided by their own children and also heard their painful stories.

-WORLD POVERY DAY OBSERVATION

The impact of the NSS units of Pandalam NSS College in social-welfare activities, proved once again on 28-6-2016, as poverty day observation. The programme officer, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar distributed the necessity things like clothes, food items, bed and also made a light connection for a poor family, owned by an aged couple, which was located through palliative care visit.

-SNEHANIDHI; ONE DAY ONE RUPEE PROGRAM

Snehanidhi is a one day one rupee program made for collecting fund from students for the Palliative care needs and for Sandhwanam project. The volunteers of each class placed coin box in all the departments in the college and collected money every week. And the program gained good support and it will backed up by the volunteers and students. The program was officially inaugurated by sri.C.S Mohan, Director of Seva Kendram, Konni, Pathanamthitta.

-AYURVEDA AND ITS IMPACTS; AWARENESS CLASS

On February 8, the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam organized an awareness class dealt with the importance of Ayurveda and prescriptions in Ayurveda. The Deputy Medical Officer of Ayurveda- Pandalam, sri.Angush inaugurated and lead the class, related through the modern ways in Ayurveda.

-WALK AGAINST DIABETICS

The whole world observed 14th November as World Diabetic Day. On the same day the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam organized a “Group Walk” as Walk Against Diabetics, with the clear coordination of Pandalam Public Health Centre. We had crossed about 3km through the walk. Students and volunteers from nearby schools were participated.

-1ST ANNIVERSARY OF PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT

We had celebrated the 1st Anniversary of our Palliative care unit under the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam. There were two sections in the celebration, that was; we had honored our palliative care nurse Mrs.Soumya Samuel. The chairperson of Pandalam municipality, Srimathi.T.K.Sathi hand over symbol of respect and love to Mrs. Soumya. The second section were the distribution of fund for the treatment of a poor patient, who was located through our palliative visit.

-WORLD PALLIATIVE DAY OBSERVATION

As per the part of world palliative day observation, a seminar and honoring function based on Palliative care were set up on the Pandalam PHC, with the coordination of National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam. The nurses and persons those who provides their care and support to Palliative care services were honored.

-PALLIATIVE CARE SEMINAR

The NSS Unit of N.S.S college pandalam along with Public Health Centre, Pandalam conducted a palliative care awareness seminar on 19th October 2015 in the college seminar hall. The main aim of the program was to create awareness among the students about palliative care and its importance. The chief guests Dr.Shammi Rajan and Mrs.Sudha Kumari (Lady Health Inspector) gave a brief introduction about palliative care and the activities conducted as part of it.

- SURVEY ON HEALTH ISSUES

We had conducted a deep and detailed Survey about the prevailing health issues in our nearby regions. We choosed the Valliyath Colony of Pandalam region for the data collection.

MEDICAL & RED RIBBON CLUB PROGRAMS

-ONE DAY MEDICAL CAMP AT CAMPUS

One day Medical Camp was one of our best project of the month. It was conducted under the head of „Red Ribbon Club‟ of National Service Scheme, on 21-3-2017. Medical Camp at the campus including the Blood Donation Camp, the Cancer orientation and the determination of Life-style diseases like blood pressure, sugar, etc. Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college inaugurated Camp in the presence of the programme officers; Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar and Dr.S.Sreelatha. The program was set up with the medical advices and help by both Govt: Hospital, Pathanamthitta and Govt: Hospital, Adoor.

-BLOOD DONATION CAMP

The Red Ribbon Club of National Service Scheme organized a blood donation and blood determination camp on 17th November 2015 in the name “SNEHATULLIKAL” , which was formally based on the saying “Rakthadhanam Mahadhanam “.National Cadet Corps officer Lt .Dr. Santosh Kumar inaugurated the camp by donating his blood .45 N.S.S volunteers donated their blood during the camp,7 members including doctors came for the camp from pathana mthitta district hospital .

-BLOOD GROUP DETERMINATION CAMP

As a part of the smooth functioning of Blood Donation Cell, we had conducted a Blood Group Determination Camp on January 16th 2015 with the help of Junior Chamber Adoor. 145 students participated in the camp to know their blood group.

- MRITHA SANJEEVANI : BLOOD DIRECTORY SOFTWARE

On February 19, the N.S.S Unit of N.S.S College Pandalam developed N.S.S Software called MRITHASANJEEVANI. The software contains fist aid precautions, blood directory etc. The main idea of this programme was taken by the volunteers and was inaugurated by Programme Officer Dr.G.Girijadevi.

-HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

We had conducted a health campaign with the help of P.H.C . The main idea of the rally was to give awareness and precautions against the viral diseases and other diseases. The rally was started from Pandalam private bus stand to Thumpamon P.H.C on 30th March 2016.

-YOGA SECTIONS

Every Saturday camps except second Saturdays we conduct Exercise sessions in the morning. These sessions are very helpful for the volunteers to make their body fit and free from diseases.

-FIRST AID AWARENESS

Our NSS unit and Primary Health Centre of Thamarakulam combined together and conducted First Aid Training on December 24th 2016. It was an enlightening class made by the doctors and physicians of Pandalam PHC on the topic, “First Aid and Precautions”. The class was lead by the health inspector of PHC, sri.Abraham Zachria.

-GROUP RUN ON BLOOD DONAR DAY

On June 14, the NSS units had organized a Group Run, crossing about 2km. It was the part of Blood Donor day observation to aware the people about the importance of the day. Dr .K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college inaugurated the program.

- DUTY AT POLIO BOOTH

On 18th -21st January 2016 the Primary Health Care pandalam and N.S.S units of pandalam N.S.S College combined together and conducted a polio booth in K.S.R.T.C Bus Stand and Private Bus Stand Pandalam, to give polio to the children.

-INTRODUCTION OF WEIGHT MACHINE

For perfect health development of volunteers in coordination with NRHM Pathanamthitta, we bought a weight machine and it is well used by students it was fixed in front of NSS office for the students of the college on May 12th 2015.

SOCIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMS

-STREET DRAMA ON WORLD AIDS DAY

Based on the importance of observing world AIDS day, the volunteers themselves prepared the script and characterization and also through proper rehearsals and camps, the dream become a massive program. The first staging of the awareness street drama was done at the Pandalam private bus stand, in presence of a huge crowd with live sound and dialogues. The success of the play was that, we are able to continue its staging on different portions of Pandalam municipality. And had got, a number of invitation and appreciation from different clubs and organizations for staging the play.

STAGING AT PANDALAM PRIVATE BUS STAND STAGING AT KURAMBALA JUNCTION -BICYCLE RALLY ON WORLD AIDS DAY

Its our awareness measure to spread the importance of the day. We had planned for a non-stop rally with bicycles. We had covered around 4 km through the bicycle rally. The official inauguration of the rally were done by the councilor of the division srimathi.Omanamma. The flag was handed over by the programme officer Dr.S.Sreelatha.

-TRAFFIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS

As per the part of the Republic Day celebrations of year 2017, we had set the Traffic Awareness Campaign as a mission against traffic law violation. For this, the volunteers directly move against the law breaking public in a friendly way. We had given sweets to people those who wasn‟t wear helmet, as a friendly punishment and also motivational picture messages were shown.

-AWARENESS BOARDS AND POSTERS AT PUBLIC PLACES

As per the part of creating awareness about the defects of using tobacco products, the volunteers had pasted awareness boards and posters in public visions and places, and also at the nearby shops.

-AWARENESS RALLY AGAINST CORRUPTION

The national service scheme of N.S.S college pandalam celebrated vigilance awareness week on 26th and 27th October 2015. Jithu R Nair (Volunteer Secretary ) had given a pledge in order to exhort volunteers regarding the importance of vigilance awareness week .The event was followed by a rally from the college , touching banks ,petrol pumps , shops ,and concluded in the pandalam bus station.

-AWARENESS RALLY ON ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION

On June 4, the volunteers conducted an awareness rally as per the part of “World Environment Day” observation. Its to make an impact on the people, we had took two tree saplings in our each hands and made the rally a massive success.

-TIRANGA MARCH

As by the circular from central ministry, all universities are applicable to conduct Tiranga march. The NSS units of Pandalam NSS college created an awareness among the public on conducting Tiranga march, which is to show respect to our National flag and to our Nation.

-RUN KERALA RUN

For welcoming the National Games in Kerala the government makes a programme called Run Kerala Run. In our college we organized the programme and a huge number of students participated in it. It was Flag hosted by Dr K.N Vishwanathan Nair Principal on 20th January 2015.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT ACTIVITIES

-3 DAY WORKSHOP ON WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

A volunteer group consisting of five female members attended a three day workshop from 21-3-2017 to 23-3-2017, it was on the topic; „Women Empowerment For Day To Day Life‟. It was at Vagamon, Kerala. The inauguration were done by the famous women struggler Hiram Sharmila. A few women protagonists and personalities from different moderated fields were visited the workshop. The sections related with arts and women, concepts of feminism, challenges faced by women in society, etc were formulated to discuss.

-SELF EMPLOYMENT TRAINING PROGRAMS

The self employment training programs includes the preparations of hand- made products like soap powder, soap, candle, lotion, ornamental and craft items, cake etc. the senior volunteers themselves prepares and also train the students and volunteers about the making of the product.

-WOMEN AND THE LAW: AWARENESS CLASS

An awareness discussion on the topic „Women Empowerment‟ were held on at the seven day camp 2016. It was lead by adv. Anupama C [leading advocate in family court, pathanamthitta]. The discussion was related with the law effects of crimes related with women abusement. The sessions related with and the major court issues on the subject were become part of the class.

-ANTI DOWRY DAY OBSERVATION

NSS Units of N.S.S college Pandalam and Social Justice Department coordinately conducted an awareness program related to Anti-dowry Act 1961, on November 12 at N.S.S college Pandalam. The class which lasted for 2hours from 2pm to 4pm handled by L.Rajan (R.D.P.O ,TVM) and Adv. Liju Roy (councilor, D.L.S.A) on the topic Injustice and Violence in Society Faced by Women.

-WOMEN‟S DAY PROGRAMS

We celebrated the women's day on March 8 and we conducted a rally to the bus stand. After that Mrs. Lassitha Nair, principal of Govt. Boy's High school, inaugurated the ceremony and gave her valuable advice and vision on women empowerment. It just strikes as an rise up for all girls in our college.

-COUNCILLING CLASS

Counselling class was conducted for women's to reduce stress among them. It was lead by the popular psychiatrist Sri. Ravikumar on 25th February 2016 at the college.

-WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SEMINAR

On 10th March 2017, our volunteer group consisting of 20 female members attended a one day seminar on the topic; Women Empowerment, was organized by the Youth Welfare Board, Pathanamthitta. The honorable district Collector srimathi.R.Girija IAS, inaugurated the seminar. NSS volunteers from different units and colleges around the district were participated.

-STREET DRAMA

A street drama was conducted on the topic “Women a gift from god” on 8th January 2016 by the N.S.S volunteers on the college ground. It was a grand program, as all the college students attended and seen the play to make it a great success.

TRAINING CAMPS & COMPETITIONS

-PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Good skill and personality development classes were being conducted which are useful for preparation of interviews. Prof. Vinod.P took a class in 25th December 2016.

-DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Our volunteers were trained on the basis of “Disaster Management” with the help of Fire and Rescue Force of Adoor & Pathanamthitta. It was a special experience to our volunteers and was conducted on December 27th 2016.

-ORGANIC CAKE MAKING

A two day workshop on baking organic Christmas cakes was jointly organized by the Kerala University‟s Centre for Gandhian Studies and the National Service Scheme . A volunteer group of 5 members from the units of NSS College Pandalam were participated. Participants were taught to prepare seven types of cakes.

-YOUTH VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP TRAINING

With the aim of creating confidence and leadership, a training section was organized by the National Service Scheme units in association with Art of Living on October. The Volunteer Leadership Training was given by Manu Mohan Das (International teacher, Art of Living).

-SOCIAL AWARENESS LEADERSHIP TRAINING

On 5-11-2016, at Thiruvalla Amritha school, a leadership training camp was conducted by the “Altians”, its an international organization in the field of social service. A team consisting of 10 volunteers from our National Service Scheme units attended the camp, which has focusing to generate a wide communication chain and relation among people those who have interest on social-welfare activities. The communication chain was still move on well.

-TIME MANAGEMENT

An effective and important training section about „Time Management‟ were organized for the students to keep a time limit always in any job. And it was lead by Dr.Subash Babu, the ex-district co-coordinator of NSS.

-ACTING SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

A workshop on the importance of drama were formulated in the seven day camp 2016. The prominent personalities in the field of drama were visited the camp and shared their views , memories, experiences in the field. Sri.Chandra Boss [drama director], Sri.Shibu Prabakar [drama writer] expressed their emotions on character and also made the volunteers a part of their stage.

-TREASURE HUNT

The seven day camp site witnessed for a „Treasure Hunt‟, it was based on many games and tasks. The more and more task completing group will get the key. It was an interesting one in the camp. -DEBATE COMPETITION

On 1st November, as the formation day of state Kerala, the NSS units of Pandalam NSS college conducted a debate competition on the topic; „The Influence of Western Culture in Kerala‟. The discussion was made on the change in culture, trend, heritage, custom, etc. the competition was moderated by sri.Sri Prasad, the lecturer of NSS College Pandalam. The programme officers hand over the trophies to the best debaters.

-QUIZ COMPETITION

On August 12, as per the part of Independence day celebration and International Youth day observation, the National Service Scheme volunteers had conducted a Campus Quiz competition on the topic relevant to the history of our struggle for independence. About 50 students were participated.

-ESSAY COMPETITION

Essay competitions were conducted as a part of N.S.S project, and this really help the students for better thinking and to increase their creativity among them. It was started from 2nd July 2015 onwards and it was inaugurated by Dr.C. Pradeep Kumar, the N.S.S Programe Officer.

-LOGICAL TALK

Logical Talk, a knowledge making ellocation program organized by the NSS volunteers to innovate ideas and discussions on a common subject. The program was conducted on 20-6-2016, as a part of the Reading Day observation.

ENVIRONMENT-CONSERVATION PROJECTS

-SABARIMALA WATER PURITY TESTING

As by the waste management processes in Pampa-Sabarimala, on every year, volunteer groups from different units have been assigned duty at Pampa to minimize the plastic-cloth wastes and to collect water samples from sabarimala and took it to the lab at Pampa. Our two group of 10 volunteers in each had duty for 6 days. We had done our services properly with the support and control by the Pollution Control Board, Pathanamthitta.

-WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION

The National Service Scheme units of NSS College, Pandalam celebrated the, “World Environment Day ”. Volunteers planted around 300 trees in the Pandalam locality, covered maximum number of houses, shops and also distributed among people.

-THULASI VANAM PROJECT

Thulasi Leaf is one of the best anti-biotic against any diseases. And we had planned for its large area of cultivation. Thulasi Vanam project was formed out of this dream. We had collected different species of the plant from our volunteers and also identified a proper place for its planting.

-NAKSHATRA VANAM PROJECT

On 12th June the N.S.S Units started Nakshatra vanam Project with the help of Social Forestry Department, Pathanamthitta. The program was inaugurated by Shanawas Khan (Forestry Range Officer, Pathanamthitta ).The N.S.S volunteers planted 27 saplings of different species which represented 27 stars in Malayalam astrology at different parts of college campus.

KADHALI VANAM PROJECT

We started a new project “KADALI VANAM” on 17th July .With the help of all volunteers, about 100 banana saplings were collected and planted in the surroundings of the college. It was a big success in the presence of Programme Officers Dr Pazhakulam Subash and Dr.G Girijadevi and Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

-LAKSHMI THARU SAPPLINGS PLANTATION

In coordination with Social Forestry Pathanamthitta under the Institutional Plantation Program, we again planted 150 Lekshmitharu Saplings in our campus, which was the medicinal plant protects from Cancer. The plantation was inaugurated by Shanavas Khan, Forest Range Officer on 27th March 2015.

-ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY CAMP

As a part of environmental study, a three day study camp was organized by our unit from Feb 12th to 15th 2016 in Mysore and from March 4th to March 7th 2017 in Wayanad and Ooty, which created a sense of brotherhood, love, knowledge and enjoyment among the volunteers. The study camp was coordinated by the programme officers Dr.G.Girija Devi and Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

-GREEN CAMPUS PROGRAM

We had introduced our Green Campus program by a view to create an eco- friendly and green environment for the future generation. By this the volunteers themselves planted and look after tree saplings in each and every portion of the campus. It was inaugurated by Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of N.S.S.College Pandalam.

-CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION

As a part of campus beautification we made a garden in front of our college which gained a massive attraction to campus. Our volunteers constructed mini lotus tank in the garden very nicely. The beautification programmes were continuously going on from 2013 onwards till 2016.

-CLEAN CAMPUS PROJECT

Clean Campus is our routine program from many decades. It was meant, not only cleaning the campus out from waste garbage but also avoiding plastic from every piece of land. The program was scheduled thrice a month.

-GARDEN MAKING

The Garden of the Botany Department is adopted by National Service Scheme, and worked hard for making it surrounded by the linnets. So many one day camps were conducted for cleaning and planting on the garden. It was started on July .

-VEGETABLE GARDEN MAKING

As the year 2016 was mentioned as the year of pulses and by this, we had preferred for the cultivation of green vegetables like pea, green chilly, ladies finger, and leaf items. Our volunteers created vegetable gardens in different portions of the college as by this.

-RAIN WATER HARVESTING

As the part of Rainwater Harvesting we made 30 Mazhakuzhi in the college surroundings to increase the ground water table. 95 volunteers worked hard to make Mazhakuzhi and this massive program was inaugurated by Dr.Sanalkumar, Senate Member, Kerala University on March.

-BIOGAS PLANT MAINTENANCE

Biogas plant is one of the best contribution by the students and teachers of Walk with a Scholar program. The NSS volunteers maintain the functioning of the plant as a part of Clean Campus program. The maintenance of the plant and the cleaning at its surroundings were look after by the NSS volunteers.

CAMPUS SUPPORTIVE ACTIVITIES

-INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY OBSERVATION

We had organized a massive coordination for June 21st, the International Yoga day. With the complete support and coordination of the NCC unit of NSS College Pandalam, the program was scheduled as two sections. The first one were the morning yoga section lead by the senior cadet of battalion and the second were the inaugural section started at 11.00 am. About 100 students participated in the yoga section lead by Mrs.Arya Devi, a yoga practitioner.

-GURUDAKSHINA PROGRAM

On 5-9-2016, our National Service Scheme units celebrated the Teachers day in an effective manner. Through the program „Guru-Dakshina‟, our volunteers visited every departments of the college, honored every teachers, conveyed our wishes and also bought them a gift of our love and respect in the form of a pen and note-pad.

-WORKSHOP ON ANTI-CORRUPTION & DATA COLLECTION

The NSS units of NSS college Pandalam and the Vigilance & Anti-corruption Bureau-Research and Training Cell, Pathanamthitta coordinated to organize a workshop on the topic, “Students participation for Anti-corrupted Kerala”. The program was inaugurated by the Inspector in charge of the cell, sri.R.Jayaraj. The program initiated on collecting data from the students, related with corruption in different economical sectors. For this, the volunteer are teamed up to groups and information collected through presentation after discussions.

-DOCUMENTARY PRESENTATION

On anti-drug day, a documentary titled “Durantha Lahari”, which has based on every real-family stories, felt badly with the over consumption of alcohol, were played.

-FREE INSURANCE PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS

A free Life Insurance scheme was introduced by the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam for the poor students of the college and it was organized with the coordination of SBT of Pandalam. An orientation section was held at the college, as a part of introducing the schemes. Sri.P.N.T.Pilla, a well known financial adviser and sri.Praveen, the general manager of SBT mentioned the importance of the schemes.

-TWO DAY ORIENTATION TRAINING CAMP FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Two-day Orientation and training camp for the newly registered students were conducted on 18-8-2016 & 19-8-2016. Around 200 students were registered and attended the camp. The inauguration of the camp were done by Dr.Sajith Babu, the Regional Director of National Service Scheme, Kerala & Lakshadweep. And also the first section of the camp were lead by him on the topic; “NSS in part of National Development”. The sections based on palliative care, personality training, ice-breaking, motivation and games were taken.

-ENERGY MANAGEMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Our unit conducted awareness campaign on the importance of energy consumption. We also conduct paper presentation and distribute broachers on this occasion. The program was conducted on 3rd February .

-NSS FESTIVAL

We conducted a grand annual N.S.S fest on 21st January 2015.We organised many programs like musical band show, cultural programmes, games to entertain the students. 120 N.S.S volunteers presented a variety of programs in the college centre ground and auditorium.

-AWARENESS MAGIC SHOW AGAINST DRUG-USE

With the coordination of the National Service Scheme units of NSS College, Pandalam, on 23-3-2017, the state mission against the drugs and intoxication were conducted on the college by the State Excise Cell and the Employment Training Cell of National Service Scheme. By this a travel art- magic show were conducted at the college for the awareness.

-AWARENESS ART SHOW AGAINST INTOXICATION

We conducted an excellent thrilling magic show to aware the students about Drug Addiction in Students on January 5th 2016 .The magic show was presented by Thomas Chacko (Chandanapally Valiyapally, Pathanamthitta).

-WASTE BASKETS DISTRIBUTION

For making our campus clean we brought waste baskets and placed it in every classes and different parts of our college campus. The program was started from 25th June onwards.

-FOOD FEST

It was the food fest which proved a magnificent thinking, as the food fest brought on good profit, and really enhanced to improve the taste skills of the college students. We organize the food fest for earning money for our Sandhwanam programs.

-NSS SPOT MAGAZINE

A just hour was only needed for our volunteers to make a spot magazine which filled with excellent subject matters. The program was done on one day-special camps as tasks to improve their quality.

-HAND WRITTEN MAGAZINE

For improving the quality in creativity of volunteers, we have been making a hand written magazine ones in a year. It was started in 2013 onwards . it was included with poems, writings, remarkable memories, games, etc.

-ADMISSION DUTY 2016

The admission duty of the year 2016 had conducted from 28-6-2016 to 30-6- 2016. The National Service Scheme volunteers have the duty at every departments, in the office room and at the help desk for filling and submission of application files of the new comers.

-WELCOME PROGRAM FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS

On 18-7-2016, the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam, conducted a welcome program for the first year students newly attended to the college. The volunteers guided the newcomers to their departments and also as a part of the program, we had gave sweet boxes to every students at their classes.

-ENROLLMENT PROCESS PROGRAM

The enrollment procedures for the newly admitted students to NSS units were commenced on 10-8-2016. The programme officers, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar and Dr.S.Sreelatha gave directions to the students those who were attended and filed the applications.

-UNIVERSITY YOUTH FESTIVAL PARTICIPATION

The N.S.S Units and N.C.C unit of N.S.S College Pandalam coordinately participated in the University Youth Festival by creating a wonderful rally from chengannur town to Muncipality Stadium on 16th March 2016.

SEMINARS

-VIGILANCE AND ANTI-CORRUPTION

To aware and create a knowledge about the basic types and fields of corruption prevailing in the society, an awareness class were taken by the Inspector in charge of Vigilance & Anti-corruption Bureau- Research and Training Cell, Pathanamthitta, sri.R.Jayaraj. The law relating with and the punishments and penalties assured by the government were also discussed on the topic.

-MODERN WAYS IN CINEMA

Dr.K.R.Renjith Kumar, the assistant professor of NSS college Pandalam, taken an enlightening class about the „Modern ways in cinema‟ and also discussed about the scope of movies now a days and about the technology and editing ways used in movies.

-INTOXICATION AND EFFECTS

On 19-10-2016, with the coordination of Kasthoorba De-addiction Centre Adoor, we had conducted an awareness seminar on the topic; „Over-use of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drugs in Youth‟. The motivational class and the paper presentation were done by Rev.Fr.Sam.P.George (psychologist) and sri.Vijayakumar (preventive officer). And also a pledge were taken by the whole students and teachers those who attend the seminar.

-BHOOMI PADANGAL

We conducted a seminar on the topic “Bhoomipadangal”, with the help of Green Vein, . It was an interactive session to the volunteers to solve their doubts about the environmental problems. The seminar was taken by Shri Rafi Ramnath, District Coordinator of Alappuzha Green Vein on 26th December.

-NATURE CONSERVATION

On 17-3-2017, the National Service Scheme volunteers of NSS college Pandalam attended a one day seminar at Kollam Fathima College, conducted by the Vigilance & Anti-corruption Bureau based on the topic, the corruption and deforestation.

-DRUG-USE AND EFFECTS

On 24-3-2017, the National Service Scheme volunteers of NSS College Pandalam attended a seminar, which was against the use of intoxication in life, at the Govt: ITI, Chennirkkara. The seminar and awareness class was conducted in the banner of State Excise Cell and the Employment Training Cell of National Service Scheme.

SPECIAL DAYS OBSERVATION

-NSS DAY CELEBRATION

N.S.S Day was celebrated on 24th September 2016 by hoisting the NSS flag on the NSS flag post and all the volunteers took pledge to remain our duty towards the organization and the society. We had started our major plans and responsible programs as a part of the day.

-INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The 70th Independence day of our great nation was celebrated on the college with the perfect combination of both NSS and NCC units and with the massive support of students. In the inaugural section, Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college hosted the flag. And then the stage set for cultural talents by every students. As a part of the Prime minister‟s, „Swatch Bharath‟ mission, a pledge were taken and started the clean campus programs.

-GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATION

We celebrated “Gandhi Jayanthi Sevana Vaaram” on 2nd October 2016 to commemorate the father of nation. The function was inaugurated by srimathi.T.K.Sathi, the municipal chairperson of Pandalam. Later as a part of Sevana Vaaram, all the volunteers were monitored by the program officers and principal, cleaned Pandalam K.S.R.T.C bus stand and surroundings.

-REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

As per the part of the Republic Day celebrations of year 2017, after the flag host in college, we had set the Traffic Awareness Campaign as a mission against traffic law violation. For this, the volunteers directly move against the law breaking public in a friendly way. We had given sweets to people those who wasn‟t wear helmet, as a friendly punishment and also motivational picture messages were shown.

-NATIONAL YOUTH DAY

We celebrated National Youth Day on 12th January, we conducted an interactive seminars, elocution competitions and motivation sessions on the basis of Empowering youth. The program was inaugurated by Mrs.Manjula, News Reader, Doordarshan .

-WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY OBSERVATION

On June 6, the official inauguration of the world environment day celebration of year 2017 was held at the college courtyard and it was inaugurated by sri.Shanavas khan, the forest range officer of pathanamthitta, and Dr .K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college.

-WORLD ANTI-TOBACCO DAY

On 6th June 2015 we celebrated Anti-Tobacco day by creating awareness on the bad effects of using drugs like tobacco and the increased use among youngsters, and Dr.Sabu Sugathan Health supervisor of pandalam was taken a class on the side effects of Tobacco,and it was inaugurated by the college principal Dr.D.Gopimohan.

-WORLD ANTI-DRUG DAY

On 26th June we celebrated Anti Drug Day by creating motivational and awareness program. The program was conducted coordinately by Pathanamthitta Excise Department, Kerala Sarvodaya Mandal. The program created a desired impact on young minds.

-WORLD OZONE DAY

On 16th September we celebrated the ozone day, the official programme was inaugurated by the college Principal whom himself a chemistry professor stressed the technical aspects behind the subject line and prompted the students to refill earth with its greenery . Volunteers pronounced ozone day message through college microphone. The program helped the all college to get some new values regarding the ozone umbrella.

-NATIONAL INTEGRATION DAY

The national service scheme unit of N.S.S college Pandalam celebrated October 31st as National Integration day. The program was included with a debate competition and an elocution competition on the topic “New Faces of Strikes” was moderated by Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar, the programme officer.

-HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

On December 10, the N.S.S units celebrated the Human Rights Day in coordination with Social Justice Department, we conducted seminars and PowerPoint presentations to create awareness among the students and it was inaugurated by Municipal Chairperson T.K Sathi.

-WORLD POLIO DAY

On 22nd January 2016 the primary health care Pandalam and N.S.S units of Pandalam N.S.S College combined together and celebrated Polio day through creating awareness boards in the public places.

-WORLD CANCER DAY

On February 4th 2016, the World Cancer Day, the N.S.S units Volunteers donated RS: 5000 for a poor cancer patient Rajan.

-MALALA DAY

On 12-7-2016, the NSS units of the college observed the 19th birth day of Malala Yousafzai. We had conducted a general speech about Malala and about her strong determination. Our college principal, Dr.K.Manikandan Nair inaugurated the speech and message transmission in the presence of the programme officer, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

-KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

On 26-7-2016, we had delivered a brief description about the Kargil Vijay Diwas through the common mike point of the college. Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college delivered the message commemorating the strong determination of Indian army.

-VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK

With the support and cooperation of the Pandalam Janamythri Police Station, the volunteers of National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam, had held a traffic awareness and control program. A volunteer group consisting of 10 members attended the awareness class and also focused in generating good immunity. The duty were at roads with the traffic police men.

-HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI DAY

As the most destructive face of the world was seen when Hiroshima and Nagasaki burnt out with a small nuclear bomb. A poster presentation was conducted, showing the harmful effects of war and it became more effective.

-COMMOMORATION DAY OF GANDHIJI

The observation on the Commemoration day of Mahatma Gandhi was conducted in the college on January 30 and the program was inaugurated by the District Panchayath Member Smt Girija Teacher.

-NATIONAL CLEANLINESS DAY

January 30th2016 the National Cleanliness day was celebrated in the college by cleaning the college campus and surroundings and it was inaugurated by Dr.G.Girijadevi, the then programme officer.

CAMPS AND ACHEIVEMENTS

-REPUBLIC DAY PARADE CAMP 2017

It was first time from our NSS units, a volunteer, Sethu Lekshmi L.S, participated in the Republic Day Camp of NSS held at the Ambedkar Bhawan, Rani Jhansi Marg, New Delhi from 2017, January 1st to 31st. She had attended the Pre- RD south zone camp at Thirutchi, Tamilnadu on November. The routine schedules of camp were included with, the parade practice, academic session, breaks, choreography, cultural programmes and the review meeting. The routine programmes were started at 6.00 am and lights off were done on 10.00 pm. There were 198 participants from 29 states and 6 union territories.

-PRE-RD SOUTH-ZONE CAMP THIRUCHI

Sethulekshmi L S, the most dynamic and active volunteer of the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam participated in the south zone Pre-Republic Day Parade camp held at the National College of Thiruchirappally, Tamilnadu from 7th to 16th October 2016 .

-STATE LEVEL VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP

Our two dedicated and self-determined volunteers; Manu.R.Kumar and Deepika.A.S attended the three day Volunteer Leadership Training Camp of the year at the Govt: College, Kariavattom, from 10th to 12th March 2017. Sri. Veera Manikandan, the pro-vice chancellor of Kerala University inaugurated the camp. Different sections related with personality training, cashless economy, women empowerment, cancer awareness, IT and techniques, etc were done.

-SEVEN DAY CAMP

We conduct seven day camp in every year at different villages. The main intention behind it to train the volunteers and to create better knowledge in volunteers. The seven day camp 2017 was inaugurated by the MP of Pathanamthitta, sri.Anto Antony.

-PAMPA CAMP

By the waste management processes in Pampa-Sabarimala, on every year, volunteer groups from different units have been assigned duty at Pampa to minimize the plastic and cloth wastes. Our two volunteer group consisting 10 volunteers in each had duty for 6 days. We had done our services properly with the support and control by the Pollution Control Board, Pathanamthitta.

-ONE DAY CAMP

Our unit had conducted one day camps on every Saturdays. The main programs done on these camps were campus beautification, awareness campaigns, skill development, collection campaigns etc.

-3 DAY EXCURSION

On the end of the every service year, our NSS units conducts excursion for our volunteers to make them out of tensions and sorrows.

REPORTS

-REGULAR ACTIVITIES 2016-2017

The National Service Scheme units 42 A,B of NSS College, Pandalam is the best unit in performance, which has an intention to do the duty properly without making any harm to the public. The activities of the units in the society is notable and appreciable. While standing in the glory of National- State-University awards, an another victory also strikes to notice the eligibility of our units, that is the Republic Day Camp and Parade 2017. It was first time from our NSS units, a volunteer, Sethulekshmi L S represented the RD Camp held at Delhi.

More over the National Service Scheme units of NSS College, Pandalam made its activities to improve student‟s and public participation for the healthy improvements in the society.

The National Service Scheme units of NSS College, Pandalam celebrated the, “World Environment Day ” as a two day program. On June 4, the volunteers conducted awareness rally with trees and also distributed and planted around 300 trees in the Pandalam locality. And on June 6, the official inauguration of the program was held at the college courtyard and it was inaugurated by sri.Shanavas khan, the forest range officer of pathanamthitta, and Dr .K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college.

On June 14, the NSS units had organized a Group Run, crossing about 2km. It was the part of Blood Donor day observation to aware the people about the importance of the day. Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college inaugurated the program.

The National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam organized a study kit distribution program on 17-6-2016. It aims on the distribution of study materials to 20 economically backward students, who were excellent in academic performance. And the program was inaugurated by the principal of the college, Dr.K.Manikandan Nair in the presence of the programme officer Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

Another implementations on the month of June were the beginning of Fund raising projects and Sneha nidhi. The fund raising project includes the preparations of hand-made products like soap powder, candle, lotion, craft items, etc. Snehanidhi is a one day one rupee program made for collecting fund from students for the treatments of the poorer.

Logical Talk, a knowledge making program organized by the NSS volunteers to innovate ideas and discussions on a common subject. The program was conducted on 20-6-2016, as a part of the Reading Day observation.

We had organized a massive coordination for June 21st, the International Yoga day. With the complete support and coordination of the NCC unit of NSS College Pandalam, the program was scheduled as two sections. The first one were the morning yoga section lead by the senior cadet of Chengannur battalion and the second were the inaugural section started at 11.00 am. About 100 students participated in the yoga section lead by Mrs.Arya Devi, a yoga practitioner. Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college inaugurated the function in the presence of Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar; the NSS programme officer, Dr.Santhosh; NCC officer in charge.

The impact of the NSS units of Pandalam NSS College in social-welfare activities, proved once again on 28-6-2016, as poverty day observation. The programme officer, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar distributed the necessity things like clothes, food items, bed and also made a light connection for a poor family that was owned by an aged couple.

The Palliative Home care programs of the year 2016 were began on the month of June. With the clear support of Pandalam PHC, a volunteer group consisting of 5 members and with a palliative nurse, was visiting a lack of houses, registered under palliative care at Pandalam, and it was twice a week. Our primary vision is to make the poorer comfort and happy and to do the necessary things needed at times.

The fund for patients program of year 2016 were started from the month July. We had collected and distributed a sum of money for the treatment of a cancer patient and also distributed a sum of amount to a mother who was a patient of spinal disease. Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the college principal and the NSS programme officer Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar made the distribution of funds.

Biogas plant is one of the best contribution by the students and teachers of Walk with a Scholar program. The NSS volunteers maintain the functioning of the plant as a part of Clean Campus program. The maintenance of the plant and the cleaning at its surroundings were look after by the NSS volunteers.

The afternoon section was based on „Personality Development‟ and it was taken by Dr.Pazhakulam Subash, the retired professor of NSS college Pandalam and the district coordinator of NSS. The third section were the motivational section conducted by the second year volunteers and it was named as „Talents‟. The 4th section was made on 19-8- 2016, and it was the Introduction of Palliative care unit to the students and the de3scription was made by Deepika A S, the palliative secretary. The 5th section of the camp was the ice breaking section to make the volunteers comfort with the stage. The last and final section of the camp was taken by the Super seniors and it was the gaming section and it made the camp, an interesting one. The orientation camp ends with the vote of thanks made by Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar, the programme officer.

As by the circular from central ministry, all universities are applicable to conduct Tiranga march. The NSS units of Pandalam NSS college created an awareness among the public on conducting Tiranga march, which is to show respect to our National flag and to our Nation.

Clean Campus is our routine program from many decades. It was meant, not only cleaning the campus out from waste garbage but also avoiding plastic from every piece of land. The program was scheduled thrice a month.

As the year 2016 was mentioned as the year of pulses and by this, we had preferred for the cultivation of green vegetables like pea, green chilly, ladies finger, and leaf items. Our volunteers created vegetable gardens in different portions of the college as by this.

On 5-9-2016, our National Service Scheme units celebrated the Teachers day in an effective manner. Through the program „Guru-Dakshina‟, our volunteers visited every departments of the college, honored every teachers, conveyed our wishes and also bought them a gift of our love and respect in the form of a pen and note-pad.

Onam Onamillathavarkkoppam is one of the best attempt by our units from the past decades also. The primary intention of the program is to make our services useful to the poorer. On 6-9-2016, the honorable MLA of Adoor, Sri.Chittayam Gopakumar inaugurated the Onam Onamillathavarkkoppam project of the year and distributed the onam-kit consist of rice, stationery, food items, vegetables and also ona-kodi, the dress materials needed, and it was for 11 poor families of Kurambala region of Pandalam.

In the month of September, we had a collected and distributed a sum of money for the treatment of a cancer patient, who was seriously felt by asthma also. The HOD of Zoology department, Dr.V.Radhakrishnan hand over the amount in the presence of the programme officer, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

Pandalam is our adopted community. Clean Pandalam project started with an aim to free pandalam from plastic garbage. It was with the cooperation of Pandalam Municipality, on 24-9-2016 the volunteers collected plastic wastes from different portions of Pandalam Town and hand over it to the municipality. We choose the day for the beginning of our important project, as a part of our NSS day celebration.

As per the part of „International Day for Elderly‟, on 1-10-2016, we had conducted a visit to the Mahatma Janasevana Kendram. Its an old-age home in Adoor, where nearly about 150 elder people were sheltered. Our intention behind the program were to aware the future generation and also to make the inhabitants free from their sorrow for sometime. Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar, the programme officer hand over the fund that we had bought to meet their overall expense of one day, to sri.Rajesh, the chairman of Mahatma.

As by the part of 147th Gandhi jayanthi celebration, we had move on with our „Clean Pandalam‟ project. With the permission from the Pandalam Municipality, we had cleaned the Pandalam Private bus stand and its surroundings. The honorable chairperson of Pandalam municipality, Srimathi.T.K.Sathi inaugurated the function in the presence of the programme officer, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar.

The month, October has an another importance. We had celebrated the 1st Anniversary of our Palliative care unit under the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam. And also the world palliative day observation were done. There were two sections in the celebration, that was; we had honored our palliative care nurse Mrs.Soumya Samuel. The chairperson of Pandalam municipality, Srimathi.T.K.Sathi hand over symbol of respect and love to Mrs. Soumya. The second section were the distribution of fund for the treatment of a poor patient, who was located through our palliative visit. The fund distribution was made by our college principal Dr.K.Manikandan Nair.

On 19-10-2016, with the coordination of Kasthoorba De-addiction Centre Adoor, we had conducted an awareness seminar on the topic; „Over-use of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drugs in Youth‟. The motivational class and the paper presentation were done by Rev.Fr.Sam.P.George (psychologist) and sri.Vijayakumar (preventive officer). A documentary named, „Durantha Lahari‟ were also screened to aware the young generation. Home for Homeless is our major project from the past few years. It aims on a shelter for the poorer. We had conducted fund collections for the project and we had succeeded in completing five homes through the collection made by our volunteers.

On 1st November, as the formation day of state Kerala, the NSS units of Pandalam NSS college conducted a debate competition on the topic; „The Influence of Western Culture in Kerala‟. The discussion was made on the change in culture, trend, heritage, custom, etc. the competition was moderated by sri.Sri Prasad, the lecturer of NSS College Pandalam. The programme officers hand over the trophies to the best debaters.

„One Time One Meal‟ was the program aims on the distribution of meal packets to the poor inhabitants of old-age home. Meal at noon or once in a day is like a proper medicine. So we had chosen our nearest shelter home, „Mahatma Janasevana Kendram‟ for this. Our volunteers prepared the meal from their own home and distributed it to the poorer.

„NSS SHOW 2016‟ was a half day cultural talent fest conducted and coordinated by the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam with a view to create some memorable moments for the poor inhabitants of „Mahatma Janasevana Kendram‟. The program was held under the leadership of the programme officers, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar and Dr.S.Sreelatha. The volunteers performed songs, dance, fussion, mono-acts and other talents to make the 150 elder people happy.

On 5-11-2016, a leadership training camp was conducted by the “Altians”, an international organization in the field of social service. A team consisting of 10 volunteers from our National Service Scheme units attended the camp, which has focusing to generate a wide relation among people those who have interest on social-welfare activities.

The whole world observed 14th November as World Diabetic Day. On the same day the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam organized a “Group Walk” with the clear coordination of Pandalam Public Health Centre. We had crossed about 3km through the walk. Students and volunteers from nearby schools were participated.

„Vilaveduppu 2016‟ is our program for harvesting. The crop output from our „Kadhali Vanam‟ project were taken as by this.

By the waste management processes in Pampa-Sabarimala, on every year, volunteer groups from different units have been assigned duty at Pampa to minimize the plastic and cloth wastes. Our two volunteer group consisting 10 volunteers in each had duty for 6 days. We had done our services properly with the support and control by the Pollution Control Board, Pathanamthitta.

Sethulekshmi L S, the most dynamic and active volunteer of the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam participated in the south zone Pre-Republic Day Parade camp held at the National College of Thirutchi, Tamilnadu.

The final fund transfer of our 5th home under the „Home for Homeless‟ project were held on 25-11-2016, and which was done by Dr.Subash Babu, the retired professor of NSS college Pandalam and the district coordinator of NSS. The home was for the family of Mr.Rajan, a poor cancer patient.

On 1st December 2016, the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam observed the World Aids Day in an appropriate manner. We had planned and organized a full day awareness campaign as by this. In the morning section, a bicycle rally were conducted from Kurambala to Pandalam. And it was inaugurated by the councilor of the division, srimathi.Omanamma. the second section was on the noon, an awareness street drama showing about AIDS, its origin and ways of spreading, were conducted. And it was staged at different portions of Pandalam.

The NSS units of NSS college Pandalam and the Vigilance & Anti-corruption Bureau-Research and Training Cell, Pathanamthitta coordinated to organize a workshop on the topic, “Students participation for Anti-corrupted Kerala”. The program was inaugurated by the Inspector in charge of the cell, sri.R.Jayaraj. The program initiated on collecting data from the students, related with corruption in different economical sectors.

The state government launched Haritha Keralam Mission to create new development by the optimum utilization of natural resources. On 8-12-2016, as by the launching, we had organized the Haritha Keralam project, on the Public Health Centre with the coordination of the same. We made the hospital surroundings clean and also planted trees on its environment.

A two day workshop on baking organic Christmas cakes was jointly organized by the Kerala University‟s Centre for Gandhian Studies and the National Service Scheme . A volunteer group of 5 members from the units of NSS College Pandalam were participated. Participants were taught to prepare seven types of cakes, with the main ingredients being indigenous fruits such as mango, jackfruit and pineapple, and other locally sourced items such as mushrooms. The 50-odd participants were a mixed bunch, including home-makers, entrepreneurs, and professionals included residents of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha. who took a couple of days off to learn baking.

Thulasi Leaf is one of the best anti-biotic against any diseases. And we had planed for its large area of cultivation. Thulasi Vanam project was formed out of this dream. We had collected different species of the plant from our volunteers and also identified a proper place for its planting.

The seven day camp of NSS was conducted in excellent manner. The camp were commenced on 23-12-2016 with the initial program, “Punniyam Poomkavanam” at the Valiyakoickal Sree Dharma Sastha temple, Pandalam. The rest of the camp were set at Govt: SVHSS Thandanuvila, Pandalam from 24-12-2016 to 29-12-2016. Programs including ice breaking sections, women empowerment, self-employment training, time management class, class on first-aid, magic show, personality development training, disaster management, debates, etc occupied the quality of the camp. And the camp was officially inaugurated by the honorable MP of , sri.Anto Antony. The key handing over ceremony of the fifth home under the Home for Homeless project were also made on the occasion of seven day camp.

As per the part of the Republic Day celebrations of year 2017, we had set the Traffic Awareness Campaign as a mission against traffic law violation. For this, the volunteers directly move against the law breaking public in a friendly way. We had given sweets to people those who wasn‟t wear helmet, as a friendly punishment and also motivational picture messages were shown.

It‟s a prideful moment in the history of the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam. It was first time from our units, a volunteer, Sethulekshmi L S participated on the Republic Day Parade camp of NSS held at Ambedkar Bhawan, Rani Jhansi Marg, New Delhi from 2017, January 1st to 31st . She was selected from the Pre-RD south zone camp conducted at Thirutchi, Tamilnadu.

On the month of February, the volunteers of National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam done a money free painting as part of the service. Volunteers bought the things needed and painted the home of a poor cancer patient.

As per the part of creating awareness about the defects of using tobacco products, the volunteers had pasted awareness boards and posters in public visions and places, and also at the nearby shops. On February 8, the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam organized an awareness class dealt with the importance of Ayurveda and prescriptions in Ayurveda. The Deputy Medical Officer of Ayurveda- Pandalam, sri.Angush inaugurated and lead the class, related through the modern ways in Ayurveda.

We had conducted a deep and detailed Survey in the Valliyath Colony of Poozhikkadu region of Pandalam on 10th February 2017. The survey was focused on the health and developmental issues of the area. It‟s a region where nearly about 88 peoples living as families.

With the support and cooperation of the Pandalam Janamythri Police Station, the volunteers of National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam, had held a traffic awareness and control program. A volunteer group consisting of 10 members attended the awareness class and also focused in generating good immunity. The duty were at roads with the traffic police men.

A seminar and honoring function based on Palliative care were set up on the Pandalam PHC, with the coordination of National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam. The nurses and persons those who provides their care and support to Palliative care services were honored.

We had conducted a three day excursion and such like a trucking camp, for our volunteer students, on 3rd March 2017. The trip focused on generating knowledge about our cultural heritage and about our valuable nature.

On 10th March 2017, our volunteer group consisting of 20 female members attended a one day seminar on the topic; Women Empowerment, was organized by the Youth Welfare Board, Pathanamthitta. The honorable district Collector srimathi.R.Girija IAS, inaugurated the seminar. NSS volunteers from different units and colleges around the district were participated.

Our two dedicated and self-determined volunteers; Manu.R.Kumar and Deepika.A.S attended the three day Volunteer Leadership Training Camp of the year at the Govt: College, Kariavattom, from 10th to 12th March 2017. Sri. Veera Manikandan, the pro-vice chancellor of Kerala University inaugurated the camp. Different sections related with personality training, cashless economy, women empowerment, cancer awareness, IT and techniques, etc were done.

We had introduced our Green Campus program by a view to create an eco- friendly and green environment for the future generation. By this the volunteers themselves planted and look after tree saplings in each and every portion of the campus. On 17-3-2017, the National Service Scheme volunteers of NSS college Pandalam attended a one day seminar conducted by the Vigilance & Anti- corruption Bureau based on the topic, the corruption and deforestation at Kollam Fathima College.

A free Life Insurance scheme was introduced by the National Service Scheme units of NSS college Pandalam for the poor students of the college and it was organized with the coordination of SBT of Pandalam. An orientation section was held at the college, as a part of introducing the schemes. Sri.P.N.T.Pilla, a well known financial adviser and sri.Praveen, the general manager of SBT mentioned the importance of the schemes.

One day Medical Camp was one of our best project of the month. It was conducted under the head of „Red Ribbon Club‟ of National Service Scheme, on 21-3-2017. As much as possible, we had planned and conducted it as a full day Medical Camp at the campus including the Blood Donation Camp, the Cancer orientation and the determination of Life-style diseases like blood pressure, sugar, etc. Dr.K.Manikandan Nair, the principal of the college inaugurated the Medical Camp in the presence of the programme officers; Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar and Dr.S.Sreelatha. The Health Inspector of Pandalam PHC, sri.Ebraham Sachria were the chief guest. The program was set up with the medical advices and help by both Govt: Hospital, Pathanamthitta and Govt: Hospital, Adoor.

A volunteer group consisting of five female members attended a three day workshop from 21-3-2017 to 23-3-2017, it was on the topic; Women Empowerment at Vagamon, Kerala. The inauguration were done by the famous women struggler Hirom Sharmila. A few women protagonists and feminists in different moderated fields were visited the workshop. The sections related with arts and women, concepts of feminism, challenges faced by women in society, etc were formulated.

With the coordination of the National Service Scheme units of NSS College, Pandalam, on 23-3-2017, the state mission against the drugs and intoxication were conducted on the college by the State Excise Cell and the Employment Training Cell of National Service Scheme. By this a travel art- magic show were conducted at the college for the awareness.

On 24-3-2017, the National Service Scheme volunteers of NSS College Pandalam attended a seminar, which was against the use of intoxication in life, at the Govt: ITI, Chennirkkara. The seminar and awareness class was conducted in the banner of State Excise Cell and the Employment Training Cell of National Service Scheme. On 31-3-2017, we had conducted a grand „Mahasammelan‟, focused on the attempt to finish our major programs of the year. The program dealt with the programs of, distribution of funds for the treatment of a few cancer patients, money distribution for the poor students of the college, complimentary sent off to our respected Principal of NSS College Pandalam sri.K.Manikandan Nair, honoring our 3rd year volunteer Sethulekshmi L S, NCC Cadet Reshma.R.Nair, those both of them participated in the Republic Day Camp 2017 and Parade held at Delhi, honoring the senior NSS volunteers of the family and the farewell for them. The function were officially inaugurated by sri.Pandalam Sivankutti, the director board member and Block Union president of Nair Service Society. The remembering presence of sri.C.S.Mohanan, the director of Konni Seva Kendram, sri.Pazhakulam Subash, the ex-district coordinator of NSS, sri.G.Girija Devi, ex-programme officer of NSS College Pandalam, Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar, Dr.S.Sreelatha, the programme officers, and the volunteers made the program a grand one. -SEVEN DAY CAMP 2016

The seven day camp of the National Service Scheme units of NSS College Pandalam for the year 2016 were commenced on 23-12-2016 with the initial program “Punniyam Poomkavanam” [cleaning the entire surroundings of „Pandalam Valiyakoickal Sree Dharma Sastha Temple‟]. And from 24-12-2016 to 29-12-2016, the camp were set at Govt: S V H S S Thandanuvila, Pandalam. The following report shows the activities and programs undertaken on these seven days. FIRST DAY

On 23-12-2016, after the camp registration, the volunteers were prepared for the initial program of the camp “Punniyam Poomkavanam” [cleaning the entire surroundings of „Pandalam Valiyakoickal Sree Dharma Sastha Temple‟]. We, the NSS volunteers took much effort in cleaning the surroundings and we also conducted an awareness program to devotes about hygiene. The volunteers also given a „leaflet‟ about the laws and rules by the court, to the visitors of the temple. SECOND DAY

The official inaugural function of the Seven day Camp was conducted on 24- 12-2016 at Govt: SVHSS Thandanuvila, Pandalam. The function was inaugurated by the honorable MP of Pathanamthitta district, sri.Anto Antony. The meeting was presided by the principal of our college Dr.K.Manikandan Nair. The presence of good personalities in our society made the ceremony a pleasant one. Its not only an inaugural function but also the key handing over ceremony of our fifth home under the plan “Home for Homeless”, it was for a poor cancer patient. And it was also a send off function for our volunteer kumari.Sethulekshmi L S who was selected for the Republic Day Parade at Delhi and it was first time from our NSS units. The momentum were hand over by honorable MP in the presence of srimathi. Omana Vijayan [Village Panchayath President, Palamel], Dr.K.Manikandan Nair [principal, NSS college Pandalam], sri.K.Ananthakuttan Unnithan [principal, govt: SVHSS Thandanuvila], sri. Prabha Mattappally [PTA president, govt: SVHSS Thandanuvila ], Dr.C.Pradeep Kumar, Dr.S.Sreelatha [programme officers]. After the inaugural session, an awareness discussion on the topic „Women Empowerment‟ were held on. It was conducted by adv. Anupama C [leading advocate in family court, pathanamthitta]. Then the volunteers set the entire camp site for Christmas celebration. After that, on evening, there was an ice- breaking session conducted by the senior volunteers. THIRD DAY

The day began with the camp assembly, the flag host and then the yoga session conducted by the senior volunteers. The first session of the day was the “Self-employment Training Program”, which was lead by the senior volunteers. And then the camp witnessed for an extra-ordinary Christmas celebration which was inaugurated by the state co-coordinator of NSS, Dr.S.Venu Mohan. Volunteers made a Christmas carol on the camp as part of the celebration. The afternoon sessions were started at sharp 2.00 pm. Sri. C.S.Mohanan, the chairman of Konni Seva Kendram shared his experiences and views on mutual trust in social service. The session was named as „Lessons and experiences of life‟. The next session was an effective and important class about Time Management which was lead by Dr.Subash Babu, the ex-district co-coordinator of NSS. The evening session was conducted by the third year volunteers, it was a debate on the topic “Nationality”. FOURTH DAY

The camp started in the routine manner. The first session of the day started on time. It was an enlightening class made by the doctors and physicians of Pandalam PHC on the topic, “First Aid”. The class was lead by the health inspector of PHC, sri.Abraham Zakria. The next session has on the noon, it was an entertainment session. An inspiring show on the base of magic was conducted by sri.Gautham Sankar and team. It was an unforgettable experience to the volunteers. After the session, volunteers were set up for out door programs, we avoided the plastic and other wasteful garbage from the road side area and main outside portions of the camp site. The evening session was lead by professor Vinod P, the assistant professor of NSS college Pandalam , which was a „Personality Development Training‟ program, and it was an effective one. The last session of the day was the „Camp Quiz‟ conducted by the senior volunteers and the gifts for the winners were distributed at the stage. FIFTH DAY

After the registration, there was a cleaning session on the morning. The entire four group of volunteers cleaned the surroundings and stages of the camp. After that, the session, class on „Disaster Management‟ were under taken by the officers of Fire and Rescue service Adoor and Pathanamthitta. The officer demonstrated the rescue measures to the volunteers and it was something special to them. The next session started after the noon break, it was a workshop on the importance of drama. The prominent personalities in the field of drama were visited the camp and shared their views , memories, experiences in the field. Sri.Chandra Boss [drama director], Sri.Shibu Prabakar [drama writer] expressed their emotions on character and also made the volunteers a part of their stage. The evening session was conducted by Dr.K.R.Renjith Kumar, the assistant professor of NSS college Pandalam, taken an enlightening class about the „Modern ways in cinema‟ and also discussed about the scope of movies now a days and about the techniques and editing ways used in movies. After that, there was a gaming session conducted by the senior volunteers. SIXTH DAY

After the routine programs, the camp was prepared for the „Nostalgia 2016‟, with the powerful cooperation and preparation, the whole volunteers succeed in making the Ex-volunteers Day, a great success. Volunteers those who were pass out on different years visited and made the day an unforgettable one. The official inauguration of the program was done by kumari.Priyanka Govind, the ex-volunteer, who was also the rank holder of the college, last year. After the program, a class on the topic, „Effects of religion and politics in the young generation‟. It was taken by sri.D.Vijayakumar, the principal of Sree Saradha Vidhyapeedam Adoor. Then the camp site witnessed for a „Treasure Hunt‟, it was based on many games and tasks. The more and more task completing group will get the key. It was an interesting one in the camp. On evening after the cultural programs , the camp set for „camp fire‟. SEVENTH DAY

The last day at the camp, we made the volunteers, free from the tensions and sorrows. The volunteers themselves prepared the stage for the concluding conference. The first part were the camp analysis, volunteers shared their memorable and valuable moments at camp. The next was the concluding ceremony which was inaugurated by the honorable MLA of , sri. R.Rajesh, who was a NSS volunteer in the campus, he shared his memory about his volunteer period and it paved way to raise the confidence level of the volunteers. In the ceremony, our gift of thanks were hand over to the principal,sri.K.Ananthakuttan Unnithan, the head mistress, srimathi.N.Sujaya [govt:SVHSS Thandanuvila, Pandalam]. And the momentum for the best campers and best group were also given by the honorable MLA. And then the camp were dismissed after the camp feast.

The camp was a great success.

-SEVEN DAY CAMP 2015

FIRST DAY

The seven day camp of National Service Scheme of N S S College Pandalam was commenced on December 21st 2015 at Pandalam Valiyakoyickal Ayyappa temple. We the all were divided in to 5 groups and assigned duties to each group. The initial program was “Puniyam Poongavanam”. We the NSS volunteers took much effort in cleaning the surroundings and we also conducted an awareness program to devotees about hygiene. SECOND DAY

The official inaugural function was conducted on 22nd December 2015 at VVHS Thamarakkulam, Charumoodu. The function was inaugurated by honorable MLA of Mavellikkara R.Rajesh. The meeting was presided by principal in charge of our college Dr.B.Ramesh, the presence of good personalities in our society made the ceremony a pleasant one. After the inaugural ceremony, an effective and important class about Time Management was taken by Deputy GM of DEL, T.K.Sreekumar. At night the senior NSS volunteers conducted cultural talent performances. THIRD DAY

The third day of the camp was started at 6:30am with assembly. On the same day the First Aid class was taken by Dr.Manu Raj, he proved that practical knowledge is better than theory. He elaborated how to save others in emergencies and it was a very good practical knowledge in predicament situation. Later the Blood Directory was published. The next section was conducted by Dr.C.R.Jyothi, the assistant professor of NSS College Pandalam. The topic was “Women of Strength and Defense”, within 20 minutes we created a mini hospital on the next classroom and it was inaugurated by Dr.C R Jyothi herself. The afternoon section was a debate moderated by Professor Ayyappa Das on the topic ”Youth & New generation Medias”. It was a very powerful one, the whole teams argued their opinions and it finally concluded with a good understanding on the topic. The Personality Development class by prof.Vinod Kumar was also an effective one. It gave inspiration & motivation to the volunteers and it helped them to understand their inborn leadership quality. At night, we had an ice breaking session. FORTH DAY

The camp started on time. The first section was conducted by the honorable guest Sreelatha, the coordinator of Seed, on the topic “Junk food & health problems”. The class was such an enlighten one. After the class we decided to spread the message of bad effects of junk food to others. The next session was taken by Sri.Visakh about the topic, Bio-diversity. He taught us about the major threats and also the importance of our eco-system. FIFTH DAY

We celebrated Christmas on 25th December 2015 in the presence of Fr.Koshy Mathew, he had delivered a powerful speech about secularism. With the powerful cooperation and preparation, the whole volunteers succeed in making the Ex-volunteers Day, as a great success. The evening session was taken by Dr.Ranjith Krishnan about the topic “Cinema Analysis”, it was an interesting one. SIXTH DAY

On the sixth day, the whole volunteers were split up to two groups and they were assigned for two major outdoor programs. The first were assigned for fund collection that is for the purpose of Home for Homeless program. And the second group was engaged in road construction program that was near the camp site. The afternoon section was conducted by the Fire & Rescue unit Adoor. The officer demonstrated the rescue measures to volunteers and it was something special to the volunteers. The evening section was conducted by Dr.Pazhakulam Subash, the district coordinator of NSS. The class was on the topic “Communicative Skills”. Later a cultural game session were arranged by senior volunteers. SEVENTH DAY

On the last day at the camp, the morning section was taken by Raffi Ramanath about the topic “Boomi Padangal”. The next program was the Analysis of the Camp. We had also done some charity efforts in the near society. At 11am,the concluding conference started and the program was presided by Dr.Pradeep Kumar, the programme officer. On that special occasion, the best campers and best team of the camp were officially announced.

At the end of the ceremony, the whole volunteers accepted themselves as a NSS Volunteers.
