He recorded CDs and DVDs consisting works from different genre and his papers were published by journals such as People's Music, Arts Criticism and Piano Artistry. ZHANG Wei received his degree in piano from Shanghai Conservatory and was later government-sponsored to study in Moscow, Russia. He has studied with ZHANG Mei, CHEN Langjiang, LIN Zhengang, CHAO Zhijue, Наум Штаркман and Ирана Красовская. ZHANG Wei became a faculty member of China Conservatory of Music since 1994 and was one of the founding members of the piano department established in 2001. His students have won numerous awards through the years, which led him to become a recipient of the Excellent Teaching Award from the conservatory. He was invited twice by the National Centre for Performing Arts for presentation and performances in the “Classical Music Lecture” series, and his lectures and master classes also attracted a substantial amount of audiences across the nation. As a Juror of many competitions, ZHANG Wei had been invited by major competitions such as the 2ndand 3rd CCTV National Piano and Violin Competition in Beijing, the 1st National Academic Piano Competition Tianjin, the 2nd Yamaha Piano Competition “Conservatoire Awards” in Beijing, the 79th Steinway & Sons International Youth and Children Piano Competition in Ningbo and the 19thHong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition in Hong Kong.
