May 24, 2013 OLQH School breaks ground for new middle-school building LAKE CHARLES - Our Lady Queen of Heaven (OLQH) Catholic School broke ground recently for its new middle- school building, and the facility is expected to be ready for the opening of the 2014–2015 school year. The one-story, 26,500-square-foot middle-school building will house fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades, and will in- clude classrooms, administrative offices, a teachers’ lounge and a brick-paved courtyard. A covered walkway will connect the new building to the cafeteria and other campus buildings. “This new facility will allow us all the advantages of a true middle-school model,” said principal JoAnn Wallwork. “The building will be spacious, filled with new technology, and de- signed to serve the learning needs of our middle-school stu- dents.” Bishop Glen John Provost led a group of honorary ground- breakers that turned the first spadefuls of earth on the north end of the campus near West Claude Street.
