Our Business Service function is committed to having the right business support arrangements in place to meet the Department’s current and future needs and following our recent review we have enhanced the existing structure to ensure that we can achieve this aim.

The new structure has given rise to 7 Permanent and 3 Fixed Term Team Coordinator positions within our Children Services, Business Services department.

These administrative roles work as integral parts of small teams supporting social workers, community care workers, and practice supervisors. Post holders require excellent planning and organisational skills whilst remaining flexible and supportive to others. An ability to gain knowledge of Derbyshire County Councils administration practices and processes, council procedures, including an understanding of confidentiality, GDPR & Data Protection is required along with excellent ICT.

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of a range of business services activities for the team, for example preparing and processing financial and business forms for the purpose of facilitating payments and purchases, booking meetings and appointments, record of meetings, typing of letters and documents, running regular data reports for analysis, supporting with client related systems, being a point of contact via telephone for families whilst ensuring that objectives, targets and timescales are met. They will have the ability to drive their own and the team’s performance.

The successful candidates must have excellent customer service skills to build and maintain substantial relationships with our young people, Social Workers, external agencies and partners.

The post holders will support Social Workers with daily tasks (please refer to the job description) and work alongside the Management Team in monitoring performance and practice to drive the service forward to achieve the best outcomes for our young people and improve the operational efficiency, quality of the service.

Experience of working in a busy environment and working on your own initiative would be an advantage.

Post 1 – Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children & Care Leavers, The Pod, Chesterfield - 37 hours per week - permanent. “Working with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and Care Leavers, the successful applicant will build and maintain trusting relationships with young people and families whilst providing excellent administrative support to Social Workers, Leaving Care Workers and Team Managers.”

Post 2 & 3 – Early Help & Safeguarding (Social Care) Rink House, Swadlincote – 37 hours per week – permanent x 2. “South Derbyshire and South Dales have 2 Team Coordinator vacancies available in the locality. You will be joining a fast-paced early help and social care service, working with 4 existing Team Coordinators of varying experience to support and become the heart of a specific team.”

Post 4 – Early Help & Safeguarding (Social Care) Amber Valley Area Office - 37 hours per week - Fixed Term 12 months. “You will be joining a fast-paced early help and social care service, working with 5 existing TC to support and become the heart of the Children in Care Team within the Amber Valley locality.”

Post 5 – Early Help & Safeguarding (Disabled Childrens Team), Polygon, – 37 hours per week – permanent. “You will be joining a fast-paced specialist and safeguarding service, working with 4 existing Team Coordinators to support the Disabled Children’s Service. The service works with children who have a disability or additional needs.”

Post 6 – Early Help & Safeguarding (Social Care), – temporary to cover maternity leave, 18 hours 30 minutes per week Monday 9-5, Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday 9.00 – 12.40. “This is a job share with an experienced team coordinator, working in a busy office providing administrative support to a team of social workers and team managers.” - £10,372.56 - £11,312.52 per annum

Post 7 – Early Help and Safeguarding (Social Care) 18 hours 30 minutes per week based at Eckington Sub Office, Wednesday 1.15-5.00, Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-5. “This is a job share with an experienced team co-ordinator, working in a busy office providing administrative support to a team of social workers and team managers.” - £10,372.56 - £11,312.52 per annum

Days to be confirmed. “To provide administrational support for the recruitment of good foster care for our Young People by being at the heart of Fostering Recruitment.” - £10,372.56 - £11,312.52 per annum

Post 9 – Children in Care, Contract Care, Gernon Manor 18 hours 30 minutes per week afternoons – permanent. “Contract Care are committed to helping all young people to reach their full potential. Our foster carers are central to this, so the support offered by the Team Co-ordinator is an important role as part of the team around the child.” - £10,372.56 - £11,312.52 per annum

Post 10 – Children in Care, Fostering, Erewash 37 hours per week – permanent. “South Derbyshire Fostering Team are a positive, supportive team with a focus on establishing positive working relationships with foster carers, colleagues, children and young people and other childcare teams. Our Fostering Team Co-ordinator is very much a part of the team around the child, as are our Foster Carers. This role will require a worker with excellent interpersonal skills and be highly organised.”

The role of the Business Services Procurement Assistant is to provide a high quality and effective support service to operational managers and employees on a broad range of administrative support activities and to procure goods and services on behalf of the department ensuring compliance with EU, National and Local Authority procurement and financial regulations.

Proven literacy and numeracy skills are essential as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You should be self-motivated and willing to adopt a flexible approach to meet priorities and deadlines. Well-developed IT skills and an excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite are required - especially Excel as the ability to produce and work with spreadsheets is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team in a therapeutically-informed residential care home for Derbyshire children with complex social and emotional challenges.

Glenholme is a five-bed home situated in Erewash and forms an essential part of our wider mainstream residential care network.

You will be working as part of a small staff team who provide support and a person-centred service to children and young people. This will involve a combination of day, evening, night, weekend, and bank holiday working. You will also work in partnership with parents and other professionals and so you will need a good range of communication skills.

Brackenfield School is an area special school for the South of Derbyshire, providing an exciting and relevant education for young people with complex needs including communication and comprehension difficulties. The Head Teacher and Governors wish to appoint a full-time teacher with a start date for ASAP. However, for the right candidate we will consider a later start date.

The successful candidates will join an experienced team of teachers, STLAs and LSAs who support young people aged 4 to 16, ranging in ability from pre formal to formal learners (equivalent range from previous Pscale P3i to end of Y2- KS1 expectations).

All of our young people have complex learning needs. We have a specific focus on pupils with complex communication and cognition needs and those with significant visual and auditory impairments.

Pupils in Brackenfield school are not chronologically age grouped and instead are grouped by their cognitive, social, communication and sensory needs. We are looking for someone to join our highly skilled team, who can build excellent relationships with our children and is committed to high standards in the classroom as part of a highly motivated and hardworking team. You should have knowledge and understanding of specialist education and early childhood development. Successful applicants will need an understanding of the issues and support strategies relating to children with complex special educational needs. The successful applicant will promote the school ethos through high levels of expectation, being an adaptable team player, promoting growth mindset through recognition of character education and be able to encourage pupil independence. In specific we are looking for applicants who have experience in working with pre-verbal pupils with complex needs. However, other relevant experience will also be considered.

A vacancy has arisen in the Development Management Section of the Planning Services Division for a Senior Planning Officer (Design).

We are looking for a forward-thinking individual to join the team which is committed to delivering continually improving standards for South Derbyshire. You will be encouraged and supported to develop and become an important member of a friendly team.

You should have experience of processing a range of planning proposals in a Development Management context including unblocking obstacles to delivery and be eligible for full member of the RTPI. You should be able to demonstrate good report writing and problem-solving abilities and work to deadlines with the minimum supervision. You will be responsible for processing a wide range of planning and other applications, which will include preparing and presenting reports to the Planning Committee, representing the Council at Public Inquiries, Hearings (and occasionally in Court) and negotiating planning agreements. You must also be able to visit sites throughout the district. You will have an MA in Spatial Planning or other qualification to a similar level recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute.
