Cheerleaders, and Most of the Jocks Could Fit Into a General Popular/Preppy Clique Students The following is a list of students for use in your games. The power level or background details may need to be adjusted to fit the theme or tone of you setting. They are organized into large, vague groupings or Cliques. After this Section we will include various Clubs and other social groups that cross social lines and can be used as more specific groupings based on activities or preferences of students. They will include lists of student names that will refer to this section. A note on Cliques: These are just suggested divisions for students, and a way of organizing the student body. As you may note in the entries, many of the students have multiple cliques listed. Like in a real school, social groupings are not hard and fast and there is significant overlap between cliques. For example, all most all of the Cheerleaders, and most of the Jocks could fit into a general popular/preppy clique. Feel free to move and adjust social divisions, as necessary. The cliques that follow could also be used the easily attached social labels or costumes. From their uniform or mannerisms, it might be easy to pick out a Jock, Cheerleader or Goth from the student body, even by a total outsider. 39 Cheerleaders >Name: Abbot, Digitalis >Aliases: Poison Girl >Birthplace/Origin: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania >Age: 17 >Powers: Poison generation and control, she can produce large quantities of poisonous gas and liquid, and change its properties, and shape it at will. Poison and Toxin Immunity. >Occupation: Student >Cliques: Cheer Team, Preps, Jocks >Short Bio: The daughter of one of the school's trustees, she is a spoiled daddy's girl of old money who is infamous around school for hiding her viper's tongue behind a cutesy facade. Yet she always seems to be able to bend male students to her will through sheer force of poisonous charisma (and her huge rack). Utterly despises Ashley J as she feels she should be the cheer team leader and the school's queen. >Motivations: Take Ashley J's throne as school queen. >Secret or Hidden Info: - Was behind All-American Jr's breakup with Ashley J, but didn't expect that he would get with Tina instead of her. Her bad attitude is really just a coping mechanism to deal with her father's crushing expectations, and her self- consciousness over the fact that most guys court her only for her looks and status; she does have a spark of genuine softness underneath it all, that may be unveiled should she find the one who will be willing and capable to seek it through all the grime, the antidote to her poisoned soul. >Name: Clarke, Heather >Aliases: Trance >Birthplace/Origin: York, England >Age: 17 >Powers: Enthralling Eyes >Occupation: Student >Cliques: Cheerleaders >Short Bio: Used to get everything she wanted even before having her power. Now, while she tries not to use long term control on anyone, she still uses it for smaller things like making others do her homework and things like that. Heather's eyes can completely enthrall whoever sees them. The longer the exposure to her eyes, the stronger the mind control is. After a day of exposure, it may even become permanent for the targets with average willpower or below. >Motivations: Living a life of luxury >Secret or Hidden Info: A skilled telepath may be able to clear her enthrallment from the target's mind, although longer exposure to her mind control requires the telepath more time to clear it. She can be affected by her own power by seeing the reflection of her eyes, but only if it takes her by surprise, otherwise she can resist the effect. 40 >Name: Deus, Eiha >Aliases: Cyberdemon, Succuvirus >Birthplace/Origin: Summoned in the School >Age: Looks and acts like a late teenager >Powers: Technopathy, Self Modified Code, Draining Touch >Occupation: Student, Sophomore >Cliques: Cheerleaders, Pop music club (vocals and rhythm guitar), Nerds >Short Bio: A demon girl summoned by Gertrude Ashgrave into an AI shell and dragged into the physical world by connecting the teleporter to her network node (disciplinary action was later taken). She was enrolled as a student once it was determined that she wasn't a threat and went out for cheerleading because she thought the uniforms were cute. Bubbly, kindhearted, and airheaded romantic. Rarely turns down date invitations and has slept around plenty. She'd like to upgrade herself, but the AI shell Ashgrave summoned her into is forbidden from doing so beyond a certain point. Her acrobatics and performing skills are the only ones she's developed through hard work. Can mentally control information technology. Can gain basic competence at nearly any skill by modifying her own code. She can fly by summoning decorative wings, horns and a tail, and can travel quickly by moving through digital networks. Superhuman charisma and technological proficiency, enhanced agility. Is powered up by people donating processing power from devices to her. Can also drain energy from people attracted to her through touch (she prefers acts of intimacy), elementary technomagic (she's working on it!) >Motivations: Remove the shackles her unusual summoning has forced onto her, looking for any candidates for romantic partners. Boys are preferred, but girls are also welcome! >Secret or Hidden Info: She's wrong about her summoning having been botched. She came into being from the school's digital infrastructure closely mapping to its leylines (this may not have been an accident) and Ashgrave didn't need to prepare a shell to summon her. Eiha's limitations and how she can overcome them are a mystery. >Name: Glasser, Tonya >Alias: Invisigirl >Origin: Melbourne, Australia >Powers: Sensible only by direct physical touch >Occupation: Student >Clique: Cheerleader >Bio: Tonya was born invisible, not realizing what this meant until a year into her life. By two, she realized she could take advantage of this, stripping off her diaper and running away (a nightmare for her parents). Though punishments were severe, she never quite lost this habit. She ran away, played hooky, snuck out, grew up with the tranquil freedom of not being seen. When she wasn't doing this, she developed a loud and "big" personality. Bold or outrageous, yet stylish, outfits, gossip and occasional meanness, all to make an identity despite nobody knowing what she "looks like" (including her). She also has a very mischievous streak. But this behavior is draining, and she can always return to the peace of true invisibility. >Motivation: To stand out, be popular and observe some really wild and interesting secret things >Secret or Hidden Info: When she disappears, she often observes. Sitting with other cliques, teacher meetings, watching individuals alone, occasionally developing a stalking habit with one person until she gets bored, 41 observing couples arguing, sitting in on people's most intimate moments and observing their secrets. And unfortunately, she doesn't always keep what she's seen secret… >Name: Gomez, Kayla >Aliases: Zero-G >Birthplace/Origin: New York City, New York >Age: 17 >Powers: Minor Telepathy and Major Telekinesis. Strong but not superhuman reflexes >Occupation: Student, Senior >Cliques: Cheerleaders >Short Bio: Julia and Kayla led nearly the same lives as children, but as the older sibling, the needs and struggles of her younger sister certainly did not help. The two became homeless at a young age, and while Julia doesn't remember too much of that time, Kayla wishes she could forget it, and the decisions her parents made that led to living on the street. They did get taken in, and Kayla does everything she can to distance herself from those helpless little girls on the streets, and that includes distancing herself from Julia. She's become an expert at subtly using her powers to help out the cheerleading team, both on (telekinesis) and off (telepathy) the field. >Motivations: Becoming powerful, and well-loved. She'll cut off whoever she needs to on that path. >Secret or Hidden Info: She has some doubts about the morality of the cheerleading team and their machinations, but she chooses to double down in securing her near-future. >Name: Hikifune, Miranda >Aliases: Rabble Rouser >Birthplace/Origin: Los Angeles, California. >Powers: Super Speed. Clone Creation (up to 10 Concurrently). >Occupation: Student, Sophomore. >Cliques: Chearleaders, Preps, Jocks. >Short Bio: A lover of all things drama, Mirai (more commonly Miranda) can’t help stick her nose in every little thing that could possibly be considered interesting or scandalous. Especially loves it when people are talking about her. Loves playing match maker. >Motivations: Causing problems. Catching people in compromising positions. PDA. >Secret or Hidden Info: Has a hard drive full of all the voyeurous pics and vids she’s taken during her time enrolled in the academy. 42 >Name: Irving, Miri >Aliases: Avatar >Birthplace/Origin: Was found on a mountain in California >Age: 18 >Powers: Enhanced Voice >Occupation: Student >Cliques: Cheerleaders, cannot reasonably interact with anyone else. >Short Bio: Spent most of her childhood as the living saint of a cult following her discovery by its founders. She was adopted by the school after her cult's leader lost her favor, most of the followers left and a few of the especially devout set themselves ablaze. She bashfully refers to her time as a cult's idol as a "sheltered background" and is focused on being a normal girl. She is strangely well-adjusted for someone who watched people burn themselves alive because she didn't like them keeping her inside. Possesses a strange form of physical enlightenment. Her body and voice are perfectly in harmony with the world. This comes with the expected enhanced physical abilities and charisma, but also gives her a strong influence over other people's potentials through song and dance.

THE RAT PACK AND THE BRITISH PIERROT: NEGOTIATIONS OF NATIONAL IDENTITY, ALIENATION AND BELONGING IN THE AESTHETICS AND INFLUENCES OF CONCERTED TROUPES IN POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT. DAVE CALVERT A thesis submitted to the University of Huddersfield in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts by Research The University of Huddersfield January 2013 Abstract The thesis below consists of an introduction followed by three chapters that reflect on the performance work of two distinct forms, the British Pierrot troupe and the Rat Pack. The former is a model of performance adopted and adapted by several hundred companies around the British coastline in the first half of the twentieth century. The latter is an exclusive collaboration between five performers with celebrated individual careers in post-World War Two America. Both are indebted to the rise of blackface minstrelsy, and the subsequent traditions of variety or vaudeville performance. Both are also concerned with matters of national unity, alienation and belonging. The Introduction will expand on the two forms, and the similarities and differences between them. While these broad similarities lend a thematic framework to the thesis, the distinctions are marked and specific. Accordingly, the chapters are discrete and do not directly inform or refer to each other. Chapter One considers the emergence of the Pierrot troupe from a historical European aesthetic and argues that despite references to earlier Italian and French modes of performance, the innovations of the new form situate the British Pierrot in its contemporary and domestic context. Chapter Two explores this context in more detail, and looks at the Pierrot’s place in a symbolic network that encompasses royal imagery and identity, the racial implications of blackface minstrelsy and the carnivalesque liminality of the seaside.

Signature Date: 17/12/2020 ii iii ABSTRACT Since the development of the superhero genre in the late 1930s it has been a contentious area of cultural discourse, particularly concerning its depictions of gender politics. A major critique of the genre is that it simply represents an adolescent male power fantasy; and presents a world view that valorises masculinist individualism.

  • PS238 Is a Comic Book by Aaron Williams, Available in Print and Online
Jumpchain Compatible CYOA - Version 2.6 Produced by Bancho-anon with contributions by SJ-Chan and /tg/ PS238 is a comic book by Aaron Williams, available in print and online Well, it looks like you've wound up at Public School #238, the only public school for meta-prodigies, a.k.a. kids with superpowers. You'll spend ten years learning to master your new abilities, saving or threatening the world, making friends, and receiving an education appropriate for your level of learning (No point in giving a super-genius the standard fifth-grade treatment, right?). This world is largely based on the silver-age of superhero comic books and, despite the fact that several individuals seemingly have the power to end the world or erase significant portions of reality, the world of PS238 is mostly (but not completely) harmless. While bad things do happen, death is seldom among them, even in the midst of full scale alien invasions. For all its apparent dangers, this setting is about elementary school kids. If you don’t want to save the world, it will (probably) be saved without you doing much, if anything. If you want to save the world, then more power to you. While in this world, you are fully protected from any attempt to change history so that you cease to exist and, as long as you remain in the main PS238 timeline, the universe will not spontaneously cease to exist. You now have 1000 CP The Time: a time very much like the start of our own 21st century.

  • Revenge Body: a Novel
1 REVENGE BODY: A NOVEL AND A DEFENCE OF THE ENGLISH LITERATURE CANON IN AN ERA OF HYPERTEXTUAL ABUNDANCE. A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy By Lucy Jane Boucher Department of English, Brunel University 2 Chapter One In a small room, in a small flat, two figures faced one another. It was cold outside, but far colder on the top floor of the mid-terrace house they shared. It was late September and there was an unseasonable chill in the air, but the couple refused to turn the heating on until the dying days of December. It was a discomfort that each blamed on the other. She was cheap. He was tight. The house was freezing. Their living room was an arena for a gladiatorial contest of wills to see who could remain silent the longest. Eleri and Marcus were born and raised in a town that was known only for its above average suicide statistics. They resisted the adolescent impulse to slash their wrists or chase down paracetamol with vodka and swing from the ceiling fans. They survived the turbulent teenage years, the roar of their twenties and were creeping through the boredom of their early thirties towards a dark middle age. Birdwater was a town in South Wales on the outskirts of the capital city’s attention. It was a place to be passed through on the way to somewhere else. The town centre had been emptied by the outsourcing of fashion stores and coffee chains to the discount retail park off the M4.
