Scholarship Information

The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Eta Mu Zeta Chapter Scholarship Committee will award book scholarships to students from selected high schools in the Thurston and Pierce County areas. The book scholarships are for qualifying high school seniors for financial assistance to cover the cost of books at an accredited college and university and will be in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) each.

The Applicant Essay and Personal Statement must be typed using a 12-point font with 1.5 or double lines. If any part of the application is not complete, the applicant may be disqualified.

To be eligible for consideration, applications must be RECEIVED no later than Wednesday, April 30, 2021. We will NOT consider the postmark date for submissions received after this date.

If an applicant wishes to share copies of awards or other pertinent items with the committee, please mail them along with your application.

**All documents in your application packet becomes the property of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Eta Mu Zeta Chapter and will not be returned to you. If you are selected as the winner, you will be recognized on social media outlets by the Tacoma NPHC. You may also be required to provide OFFICIAL, sealed high school transcripts.

Zeta Phi Beta Scholarship-2021

QUALIFICATIONS

Each applicant must be:

1. A citizen of the United States. 2. Graduating high-school senior this current year, with an earned .P.A. of 2.7 or higher 3. Planning to attend an accredited university, college, or technical institution REQUIREMENTS

Each applicant must submit the items below by April 30, 2021:

1. Applicant Essay and Personal Statement: The applicant essay topic is provided. Your personal statement should describe your professional aspirations. Include your educational goals, potential challenges that may occur with possible ways and/or resources to overcome those challenges. The essay should be 300 words

2. A completed copy of the APPLICANT’S PERSONAL INFORMATION FORM containing statements about his/her involvement in school activities; participation in community activities and organizations; receipt of any awards certificates or special recognition and future educational/career goals. 3. Two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers, school counselors/administrators, employers, other adults in the community (exclusive of family members) 4. A copy of your unofficial transcript must be submitted with completed application.

EVALUATION CRITERIA Each applicant is evaluated on: 1. Quality of transcript, personal statement and essay 2. Degree of involvement in school activities 3. Extent of involvement in community activities 4. Content of letters of recommendation
