Patriot League Announces Women’s Lacrosse Academic Honor Roll 141 student-athletes receive Honor Roll recognition

Center Valley, Pa. — The nine Patriot League women’s lacrosse teams combined to place 141 student-athletes on the sport’s Academic Honor Roll announced on Monday, led by Bucknell with 21 selections.

Closely following the Bison in overall selections were Lehigh (20), American (19) and Loyola University Maryland (18), while Holy Cross (15), Lafayette (15), Colgate (14), and Navy (12) also had double-figure totals.

Ten student-athletes who made the Women’s Lacrosse Academic All-Patriot League Team in April also qualified for the sport’s Academic Honor Roll, including three-time Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year Katelyn Miller of Bucknell. Miller was one of 11 student-athletes to make the Academic Honor Roll for a fourth season, a group that also included her teammates Emily Fask, Andrea Feldman, Lindsey Ferro, Elizabeth Gauf and Sophie Kleinert, American’s Lauren Binstein, Nicole Lombardo and Alex Lugovina, Holy Cross’ Sara Hennessey and Navy’s Jill Coughlin.

Coughlin, an Oceanography (Honors) major at Navy, was one of three student-athletes who made the Academic All-Patriot League squad and turned in a 4.00 grade-point average in the spring semester. Lafayette senior Laura Kleiber (Economics and Art) and Lehigh junior Carli Sukonik (Design) also achieved that feat. Others who recorded a 4.00 GPA in the spring were Lugovina (Communication Studies), American freshmen Jackie Ferri (Accounting) and Abigail Thielemann (Undeclared), Boston University freshman Brynne Yarranton (Health Studies), Bucknell sophomore Charlotte O’Donnell (English) and juniors Cori Thielemann (Economics) and Alex Wallace (Managing for Sustainability), Lafayette junior Sarah Malone (International Affairs), Lehigh junior Emily Solenberger (Behavioral Neuroscience) and Navy junior Jess Fellows (Political Science).

To be eligible for the Spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average during the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.

“Today’s Scholar-Athletes, Tomorrow’s Leaders” – The Patriot League continually demonstrates that student-athletes can excel at both academics and athletics without sacrificing its high standards. The Patriot League’s athletic success is achieved while its member institutions remain committed to its founding principle of admitting and graduating student-athletes that are academically representative of their class. Participation in athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of a well-rounded education.

Center Valley, Pa. – Two hundred and two student-athletes have been named to this year’s Patriot League Women’s Rowing Academic Honor Roll, including 2014 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Erin Meyer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

A senior mechanical engineering major, Meyer was one of 17 women’s rowing student-athletes to post a 4.0 or better grade point average during the spring semester.

Six of Meyer’s teammates also finished with a 4.0 GPA this spring with Becca Taylor (chemistry) being the lone junior. A trio of sophomores Katherine Adler (environmental engineering), Briana Chin (brain & cognitive sciences), and Veronica Toro (biological engineering) also achieved the mark along with freshman Stephanie Bousleiman (brain & cognitive sciences) and Elizabeth Glista (mechanical engineering). Navy landed four with a perfect 4.0 GPA with freshman Ariadna Dang (operations research) and Paige Stateler (chemistry) and sophomores Rebecca Greenberg (systems engineering) and Kathleen Heinbach (computer engineering). Georgetown was the only other school with more than one student-athlete to achieve a 4.0 GPA with junior Katie McGowan (biology) and freshman Christina Johnson (human science). Colgate senior Macy Warren (psychology) had the highest mark at 4.22 and Boston University junior Anna Martin (health studies), Bucknell junior Margo Boyd (mathematics/economics) and Lehigh senior Kaitlyn Dennington (psychology) all finished with a 4.0 GPA in the spring.

Boston University led all Patriot League schools with 43 honor roll selections. Georgetown was second with 34, followed by MIT (27), Bucknell (26) and Navy (23). All 11 members of the Academic All-Patriot League team appear on the 2014 honor roll.

To be eligible for the spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.

Patriot League Announces Academic Honor Roll Schools combine for 62 student-athletes on the list

Center Valley, Pa. – Sixty-two softball student-athletes have been named to this year’s Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, including 2014 Scholar-Athlete of the Year junior Cydnee Sanders of Bucknell.

Lehigh senior Kelsey Lee, a Psychology/English major, led all student-athletes on the list with a 4.00 GPA in the spring followed by teammate Kristin Taft, who accomplished a 3.92 as a Psychology major. Both Holy Cross’ Sarah Free and Lafayette’s Amy Gebhardt had a 3.90 GPA. Free, Gebhardt, Lee and Bucknell’s Mallory Lyons all made the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive season. Eleven student-athletes to earn honor roll recognition were also selected to the Softball Academic All-Patriot League team last month.

Lehigh led all Patriot League schools with 13 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll. Holy Cross followed with 12, Bucknell and Boston University added 11 and nine student-athletes to the list, respectively.

To be eligible for the spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.

– A total of 124 men’s swimming and diving student-athletes have been named to this year’s Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, led by 2014 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Cole Puchi of Boston University.

Puchi, a junior business administration & management major, posted a 4.00 grade-point average in the spring term and was one of 11 men’s swimming & diving student-athletes to earn a 4.0 GPA or better for the spring term.

Four members from champion Navy had a 4.0 in the spring semester: freshman Ryan Bailey (chemistry), Michael Bundas (physics) and Sam Ciocco (mechanical engineering) and sophomore Frank Love (systems engineering). The highest GPA for the spring semester was Army freshman Eric Tatum (undeclared) with a 4.04.
