Artist Biographies

Alberto Arias Flores is a third-year French studies and music performance student from studying at Bard College Conservatory of music under the tutelage of Julia Pilant, Barbara Jöstlein Currie and Jeffrey Lang. He began his musical studies in 2010 at the Conservatory Vicente Emilio Sojo and El Sistema in , Lara. He was a member of the National Children's Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in 2013 where he participated in the Salzburg Festival under Sir Simon Rattle, the Lara Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2014 and Lara Symphony Orchestra in 2017 where he has worked with great conductors like Gustavo Dudamel and Christian Vásquez. Alberto has also participated in the Miami Music Festival 2019 edition where he studied with the former empire brass horn player Gregory Miller.

Pianist Sung-Soo Cho continues to captivate audiences with his profound interpretations and musical depth. Praised for his technique and command at the piano, his wide repertoire has also drawn critical acclaim. He especially enjoys the thrill and challenge of contemporary music and displays this passion in his CD "Minimum | Maximum | Modern Piano Music by American Composers," on Albany Records in 2016. Each season, Dr. Cho performs across the United States, Korea, Poland, , and Bermuda, where he presents creative theme-based programs, the most recent being The Seasons and Wall Calendar, All Russian Music, and Complete Études for Piano by Scriabin. Highlights from his upcoming projects include a complete album of Alexander Scriabin’s Études for piano, Beethoven’s 250, and the world premiere of Michael Colina’s Piano Concerto, all of which have been postponed due to the pandemic. Since the outbreak, Dr. Cho has been curating online concert series including A Classical Quarantine with his pianist colleagues and Home Music Series with vocal collaborators. He plans to continue these series and connect with online audiences in the community, throughout the States, and abroad. Dr. Cho started his musical studies at the age of five in Seoul, South Korea, and holds degrees from Seoul National University, Manhattan School of Music, and Cleveland Institute of Music. He has served as adjunct faculty at New York University and Notre Dame College. He currently is a collaborative piano fellow at Bard College-Conservatory of Music and piano faculty at the Kaufman Music Center. For more information, see www.sungsoocho.com.

Juan Diego Mora is a percussionist born in Tachira, Venezuela, where he studied orchestral and latino percussion with professors from El Sistema. He is currently finishing his first year at the Bard College Conservatory of Music, where he plans to second major in physics and other math programs

Ana Aparicio, born in Maracay, Venezuela, is a third year student at the Bard Conservatory where she studies with Daniel Phillips. In Venezuela, she began her musical studies at the age of four, in the music program El Sistema, and performed as a soloist with several orchestras there. She was awarded the "Order Bolivariana, City of Maracay” for academic and cultural achievements. In 2013 she completed her studies at the School of Music Federico Villena in Venezuela, obtaining certification as a master performer. She performed with the Orchestra of the Americas from 2016 to 2018, with conductors Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, Benjamin Zander, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Rafael Payare, and Christian Vasquez, among others. In 2017, she studied at the School of Music Superior of Catalonia, , and later at Texas Christian University, before enrolling at Bard College and the Conservatory two years ago.

Joel Guahnich born in Venezuela in 1998 in Los Teques, Miranda State. He began his musical career playing recorder. When he was 5 years old, he decided to start his trumpet career in El Sistema, a huge national project dedicated to give a life opportunities to all children in Venezuela. Throughout his career he has been participating in all kinds of projects, orchestras and chamber music groups including The Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, Teresa Carreño Symphony Orchestra, and the Bard Philharmonic Orchestra. He has taken classes with world ranked masters such as Gabor Tarkovi, Eric Aubier, Allen Vizzuti, Max Sommerhalder, and others. Currently he is a student in the double degree program at Bard College and at the Bard Conservatory of Music in New York. He participated in several concert tours including the 2013 -Korea tour with the Symphony Orchestra, the Vatican City Tour with the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, and most recently, performances in Hainan, China, with the Bard Philharmonic Orchestra and maestro Tan Dun performing Tan Dun’s Buddha Passion.

Gabriela Marie Rosado Torres is a fourth-year psychology and music performance student from studying at Bard College Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Tara Helen O'Connor. She has regularly performed with the Bard Conservatory Orchestra and chamber music ensembles at Bard. During the summer of 2015, she received The Gilbert Legacy Full Scholarship for the Florida Flute Workshop. During that same year, she was also awarded a full scholarship to study flute at LIVE Performing Arts Studio with Mindy Heinsohn. In 2016 she won the Soloist Concerto Competition for Woodwinds, Piano, and Percussion and performed as a soloist with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Gabriela has participated in the International Music Academy Domaine Forget, the Curtis SummerFest at the Curtis Institute of Music, and Jim Walker’s “Beyond the Masterclass” at Colburn School.
