10 THE Signal FOCUS ON SBE By John L. Poray, CAE SBE Executive Director [email protected]

Thanks for the Memories! t’s an oft used cliché, but it fits the situation. After 28 years in Ione position with an organization, there are going to be a lot of memories. Of course, there have been a few I would like to for- get and plenty of others I have forgotten. But here are some of the fond memories of people, places and things that I will take with me when I retire on December 31. After the areas I have spent my life living in, the next place I’ve spent the most time in is Las Vegas, mostly to attend the annual NAB Show. I’ve come in contact with thousands of SBE members over the years who have come by the SBE booth and attended our membership meetings and receptions. I always came away from the show with a renewed appreciation for the enthusiasm broadcast engineers have for their life’s work.
