Cinegy Prompter ...... 170 Preface

Managing the growing complexity of playout, and file delivery is an increasing challenge to broadcasters. As the number of channels and platforms a broadcaster delivers rises, controlling that infrastructure is critical.

Software-based solutions, with technologies such as high-density virtualization and IP stream I/O, offer the possibility to consolidate complexity into bite-sized elements - particularly as more features can be added to collapse the length of the traditional broadcast chain.

Delivering a channel is complex – with many interconnected elements costing money, requiring management and needing maintenance. Cinegy Air simplifies these challenges by supporting multiple channels with multiple features in a single box. Deploying Cinegy Air on a server brings AC-3 encoding, Nielsen watermarking and Cinegy CG channel branding to one integrated software solution.

Cinegy Air PRO is the logical next step in the evolution of broadcast automation and video servers. Gone are the monolithic black boxes, replaced by TCP/IP network-attached real-time software appliances. Cinegy Air PRO provides a broadcast automation front-end and a real-time for SD, HD, Ultra HD (4K), and/or 8K playout in an integrated software suite, offering unparalleled flexibility by playing compatible format and mixed resolution content as well as un-rendered edit sequences straight to air.

1.1. Playout System

The Cinegy Air product is represented in two versions: PRO and SOLO.

Cinegy Air PRO is a versatile broadcast automation and playout solution.

Cinegy Air SOLO is an entry level version of the product for an easy start and simple operation; some of the features are not available in this version.

This documentation covers all features available in the Cinegy Air product. All descriptions and illustrations are provided for the PRO version of the application.

The features unavailable in SOLO version are marked with the corresponding notes. Cinegy Air application provides an interface for convenient creation of playlists, editing and .

To perform direct playout, Cinegy Playout should be connected. This application is a software-based engine that sends playlists to air.

 Refer to the Cinegy Playout Manual for detailed description of configuring and operating of Cinegy Playout application.

The preparation of playlists is performed via Cinegy Air Playlist Editor.

Cinegy Air PRO application itself can be used for on-air playlist management.

 Refer to the Configuring Cinegy Air article for more details on the application setup.

Any PC connected to the network on which the Cinegy Air application has been installed can be used to prepare and edit playlists. A playlist can be composed of any clips in commonly supported file formats and/or with clips prepared in Cinegy Desktop. Using Cinegy Desktop is optional and is not required for work with Cinegy Air.

 Refer to the Cinegy Desktop Manual for more details concerning this product.

Once a playlist is ready for broadcast, it is loaded into Cinegy Air running in single channel or multi channel control mode and is sent to the playout server.

Cinegy Air provides the following features:

• media material instant playback: any clip or Sequence prepared in Cinegy Desktop and added to a playlist can be sent to air immediately in control mode; • video files instant playback: file of any Cinegy Air supported format (mpg, avi, dv, wmv, etc.) added to a playlist can be broadcast immediately in control mode; • a playlist composed in Cinegy Air can be played back on two Cinegy playout servers simultaneously for fail-safety reasons. In case of on-the-fly changes in the playlist, the playout servers merge the altered playlist with the one being played, providing a smooth and swift change of the playout; • reliable security system preventing unauthorized access to media material prepared for broadcasting; • simultaneous broadcasting of different playlists in various TV formats to multiple channels; • simultaneous broadcasting from one channel to multiple output devices;

Page 3 | Document version: 6ae6f26 • simultaneous broadcasting of the same playlist to several channels with different TV formats; • the playout software is implemented as an SQL-independent service to provide the most robust on-air playback; • horizontal timeline view provides a clear overview for easy operations; • secondary events for external device control; • local or remote control operation via LAN or WAN; • GPI events processing for automatic commercial insertion; • as-run log generation; • uninterrupted broadcasting even in case of server disconnection from the local network or from Cinegy Archive (if there are proxied items in the list). If the current item is not proxied, emergency footage is broadcast instead.

The proxy storage holds pre-fetched playlist items in a defined compressed format for the following reasons:

• so that even the most difficult playout session can be prepared easily; • to avoid rendering on-the-fly whenever possible.

Items are proxied in chunks. Once proxied, the item is stored in a proxy folder (defined in the Cinegy Playout configurator). In case of repeated usage it will not be proxied for the second time, but will be played back directly from the proxy folder.

Items are proxied in the order they are played back. Only the most recently inserted items can be played directly from the media server. The playout server takes material for playback according to the playlist from essence storage as shown below:

1.2. Cinegy Air Installation

This article guides you through the Cinegy Air PRO installation steps.

 The Cinegy Air SOLO installation process is the same.

 At least local administrator rights are required to install and configure Cinegy Air on your computer.

Select the "Don’t use Cinegy Browser" option if it is not required to use the built-in Cinegy Browser for browsing through the Cinegy Archive database.

Next select the required time zone by choosing between options presented in the "Time zone" drop-down list.

Page 11 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Checking the "Use fixed offset" option enables entering the required time offset in the time picker specifying hours, minutes and seconds. Using fixed offset enables defining time subtracted from or added to UTC.

If "Use fixed offset" option is not checked, the selected time zone will be used instead.

The "Default video system" and "Default aspect ratio" parameters are used for the default blank playlist creation.

Then define the aspect ratio values of the items inserted into a playlist.

Using the "Default original aspect" drop-down list, define the original aspect ratio value to be used by default for the source files inserted into a playlist. To define the aspect ratio value automatically, choose "Auto".

Use the "Default target aspect" drop-down list to choose the target aspect ratio to be applied to playlist items. Set this value to "Original" to keep the original aspect ratio of a playlist item. If the "Stretch" value is selected, the target video stream is stretched to fill the entire frame, no cropping is applied.

 Refer to the Aspect Ratio section for detailed information on playlist item display on the playout screen.

In the "CG Repository" field define the folder location where Cinegy Titler templates are stored.

The audio matrix presets storage location can be defined in the "Audio Matrix presets" field.

If the audio matrix XML file cannot be found, opened or successfully processed, a warning prompt will be  shown at the Cinegy Air startup. Cinegy Air control application will be loaded, but it will not be possible to change any audio matrices or audio encoding profiles. The valid audio matrix XML file should be specified in Cinegy Air configurator.

The "Legacy sequence audio" parameter defines how to process Sequences without master audio tracks prepared in Cinegy Desktop 9.1 and earlier. Choose the appropriate option from the drop-down list:

Channels Configuration

The list of channels to control can be configured under the "Channel" panel. Multi-channel configuration is achieved by adding and configuring more than one channel. Each channel must be configured individually.

Click the empty line underneath the list of channels to add a new channel for broadcasting.

 Once the channel is created, its name is written in red until you specify its playlist and engine parameters.

 In order to prevent the time differences between the control and playout stations, all Cinegy Air clients take the current time from the playout server.

 Controlling remote instances and defining the secondary (slave) engine in multi channel control mode is not supported in Cinegy Air SOLO.

Press this button to delete the selected channel.

Use these buttons to change the channels order.

The following diagram represents the multi channel control mode configuration:

Page 15 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Time Zone

Time zone configuration is based on the DST shift. In order to ensure correct scheduled playback of playlist  items during Daylight Saving Changes it is possible to define a time zone or fixed time offset for each channel you are configuring.

Select the required time zone by choosing between options presented in the "Time zone" drop-down list. Selecting the Time Zone ensures the correct time offset for DST.

Checking the "Use fixed offset" option enables entering the required time offset in the time picker specifying hours, minutes and seconds. Using fixed offset defines the server’s own time regardless of the Time zone set.

If "Use fixed offset" option is not checked, the selected time zone will be used instead.

 Time zone settings are set separately for each channel you are configuring.

 After applying time zone changes it is required to restart the Cinegy Air Control application.

DST change affect playlists created using Cinegy Air v11 and converts them into a new format; once the Cinegy Air control application launches the following warming appears notifying about playlist format change:

Page 16 | Document version: 6ae6f26 On the next step define the following settings:

• Video system – TV system used for broadcasting. • Aspect ratio – aspect ratio for the video stream (4:3 or 16:9). • Audio level reference – the zero dB level for the VU meter. • Preserve original audio – the option for disabling the audio volume control on the playout control panel. • Engine 1, 2 – master and slave playout servers.

Select the "Local" checkbox if Cinegy Playout is installed and launched on the local computer. In the corresponding "#" field next to the server IP address, define what Engine instance will be used to process the specified playlist.

 Refer to the Multi-Instance Playout Service paragraph in the Cinegy Playout Manual to learn how to create additional Cinegy Playout instances.

 The remote control feature is unavailable in Cinegy Air SOLO, the "Local" checkbox is disabled.

• Active playlist – file with the *.MCRactive extension that contains the content of the active playlist.

You can browse for an existing file or simply enter the file name in the defined location for a new file. The playlist will be restored from this file when you launch the Cinegy Air application in one of the control modes. The playlist is automatically

Page 17 | Document version: 6ae6f26 updated after each applied change. When Cinegy Air application is closed, the currently used playlist is automatically saved to this file. If the *.MCRactive file is stored on the shared network drive and its location becomes unavailable, the applied changes will not be saved and the following error message will occur:

• Backup location – specify the backup playlist location for the MCRActive and .bak file creation in the event of access loss to the primary location. In case the location is unavailable or there is no sufficient rights to access it the corresponding error message will appear:

Select the "Auto Append Playlist" checkbox to enable the auto-append feature. Once selected, the "Auto append folder" field becomes editable.

• Auto append folder – the watch folder for the playlists to be automatically appended to the end of the current playlist. Once a playlist file is detected in this folder, validation of its TV format compatibility, as well as its start date and time is performed automatically. If the playlist is scheduled to start in the future (i.e. it will not start immediately) and has the compatible format, it will be appended to the current playlist and the original playlist file will be moved to the "Processed" subfolder. If the playlist is scheduled to start in the past or has an incompatible format, it will not be appended and will be moved to the "Declined" subfolder. In this case the corresponding error message will be logged to the specified user log folder. • Shared playlist – this option allows you to edit the playlist from several computers simultaneously. If the playlist is changed on one computer, the changes will automatically appear in the playlist of Cinegy Air Control application running on the second computer. Refer to the Two Cinegy Air Clients, One Shared Playlist and One Playout Server paragraph for more information about this configuration model.

 Please note that the proper system time synchronization between two machines running Cinegy Air control applications ensures the correct work of "Shared playlist" option.

• Remote CG – the server and the instance number of the separate dedicated playout instance that renders the Cinegy Titler templates. • CG Repository – the folder location where Cinegy Titler templates are stored.

 Cinegy Titler templates are applied to items as secondary events.

Page 18 | Document version: 6ae6f26  Refer to the Creating a New Titler Scene article within the Cinegy Titler Manual to learn how to create Cinegy Titler templates.

 Refer to the Sequence Compatibility article for more information on "Legacy sequence audio" handling.

Aspect Ratio

There are two parameters defining the aspect ratio values of the items inserted into a playlist.

Using the "Default original aspect" drop-down list, define the original aspect ratio value to be used by default for the source files inserted into a playlist. To define the aspect ratio value automatically, choose "Auto".

In the "Default target aspect" drop-down list, choose the target aspect ratio to be applied to playlist items.

Press "OK" to finish configuring the Cinegy Air control application.

Page 34 | Document version: 6ae6f26 You can make additional limitations to your search. This can be done by adding conditions to the metadata fields. To do this, add a row in the bottom part of the advanced parameters configuration group by pressing the button.

 Refer to the Advanced Search paragraph within the Cinegy Desktop Manual for detailed information about advanced search parameters configuration.

Search Request Syntax

It is possible to use multiple words for search. In this case, they are connected with the logical AND.

It is also possible to use AND, OR and NOT operators, as well as brackets. If you enter several words separated by a space, the AND is assumed.

The wildcard * is also allowed.

The words in search query that are less than 3 characters are not searchable. If such a word is a part of a disjunction, the whole phrase is not searchable too.

The following tables explain the search request syntax in detail.

Expressions

Expression Description Example

any word all the forms of that word man will find man and men "string" the exact string "man*" will find man* man* will find man, many, manuscript, manner and so * any string of zero or more characters on ? any single character ?ean will find Dean, Sean and so on any single character within the range [a-k] or [] [C-P]arsen will find Carsen, Larsen, Karsen and so on within the set [abcdef]

Page 35 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Expression Description Example

any single character not within the range [^a-k] de[^l]* will find the words beginning with de where [^] or the set [^abcdef] the third letter is not l "%exact the exact word combination or phrase "%folder #1%" will find folder #1 phrase%"

 If the "?" symbol is placed at the beginning or the end of the word, it is processed as the "*" wildcard, i.e. "?" will be substituted by one or more characters.

When using the expression with a range of symbols (written in square brackets) and performing search within some text rather than searching for a single word, add the "*" symbol at the beginning and the end  of the search expression. For example, if you are searching within some text for the words starting with any symbol of the [b-t] range and the second part of which is "end", use the following search expression: *[b-t]end*.

 When using the "%exact phrase%" expression, please note that the search process may take a long time, especially in large databases.

 The natural-language search is language dependent. Your SQL server must have the search engine for the language you are using; otherwise, the search function will not work.

Operators

Operator Shortcut Description Example red monkey Joe & Willy AND & or space logical AND black AND white

Joe | Willy OR | logical OR purse OR life

Joe NOT Willy NOT ~ logical NOT ~fish&~meat

( ) logical grouping (~red monkey) | (John Smith) LIKE, NOT LIKE LK, NL matching a specified pattern LIKE *land

Search Results

The search results are displayed on the left-hand panel:

Page 36 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Use "Change your view" button to change the thumbnail size or switch to detailed list view of search results.

If the search comes up with more than one page of search results, use the pagination control at the bottom of the page to navigate the search results or enter the desired page number and hit Enter.

You can define the number of search results to be displayed per page by choosing the corresponding option from the "per page" pull-down list or entering the value from 10 to 2000 via the keyboard. The total number of search result items is indicated in the "Displayed" field.

 Refer to the Search Results article within the Cinegy Desktop Manual for detailed information about the found objects metadata display.

File Browser

File Browser provides access to the materials stored on your local computer or network share. It is used to compose playlists with MCRitems (clips from Sequences, Bins and Rolls that have been exported to the inventory folder) or media files.

Page 37 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Use "Change your view" button to change the thumbnail size or switch to detailed list view.

The file formats that are not supported by Cinegy Air will be filtered out and not displayed in right-hand panel of file browser.

In order to add an item, or items, from File Browser to a playlist, simply use drag-and-drop.

 The item(s) will be inserted with the aspect ratio, defined in the Cinegy Air Configurator. Refer to the Aspect Ratio paragraph for details.

1.5. Integration with Cinegy Desktop

Overview

The MCRitem is an XML file that defines a separate playback element in the playlist with the set of metadata that describes the given item. It can represent a simple clip or a comprehensive Sequence with titlers, effects, pictures and voice-overs inside. The MCRitem also includes descriptive metadata (name, description, comment) and the data, defining the processing and display of the given item.

This allows you to send a prepared Sequence directly to the playlist from your Cinegy Desktop without rendering the media file. The rendering will be performed on-the-fly.

To create an MCRitem, follow the steps:

1. Create a shared folder (e.g. Inventory) where the *.MCRitems will be stored. 2. Open the Cinegy Desktop application:

Page 38 | Document version: 6ae6f26  Refer to the Cinegy Desktop Manual to learn how to work with this product.

3. Select the desired Sequence or clip from the Roll/ClipBin and choose the "Send to inventory…" command from the context menu:

The common "Save as" dialog box appears:

Page 39 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Navigate to your dedicated inventory folder and enter a file name into the text field.

4. Press the "Save" button to create the ".MCRitem" file with the name you specified.

Use Windows File Explorer to add *.MCRitem(s) to a Cinegy Air playlist.

 Refer to the Adding Items to Playlist article to learn how to add *.MCRitems to Cinegy Air playlist.

Playback While Ingesting

Cinegy Air supports the playback of clips that are currently being ingested.

While the material is being captured, the clip remains locked in Cinegy Archive database. It is possible to add such clip in the Cinegy Air playlist. When you drag-and-drop the locked clip from Cinegy Browser to the playlist, the following dialog is open:

Page 40 | Document version: 6ae6f26 It shows the current duration of the clip and asks you to define the estimated duration. Press "OK" to add this clip to the playlist.

 The clip that is still being captured can be sent to playout.

 If the estimated clip duration appears to be longer than captured material duration, at the end of this clip playout the configured emergency footage will be displayed.

When added to playlist, the clip currently being ingested will also be proxied (if proxying is set up). If proxying reaches the end of the currently ingested material, it will switch to proxying another item.

 Refer to the Proxied Items section for more information on proxying.

It is also possible to add to the playlist MXF OP1a files, that are currently being written (e.g. via Cinegy Convert).

 Playback while ingesting within Cinegy Archive database into MOV container is not possible due to container limitations.

Working with Placeholders

Cinegy Desktop has the special type of items - placeholder MOGs - that are used as a temporary substitution for the material that has not been ingested yet. Such placeholders can be inserted in the Cinegy Air playlist.

Page 41 | Document version: 6ae6f26  For this workflow to work, Cinegy Desktop should be installed on the computer where Cinegy Air control application is running and the corresponding Cinegy Archive database should be selected.

The placeholder MOG can be dragged-and-dropped to the playlist via Cinegy Browser:

In the playlist, this item will be displayed in the red font. After the media is ingested in the placeholder MOG, it is updated in the playlist and becomes the regular item

 Refer to the Placeholder MOGs article for more information on working with placeholders within Cinegy Desktop.

1.6. Interface Customization

Panels Docking

It is possible to customize the panels position within Cinegy Air window to create layouts that work best for various tasks. The tabs and panels can be docked to a convenient location or float as separate windows, for example, to be displayed on different monitors. The customized layouts are retained so that next time the Cinegy Air control application is open, the panels are set according to your needs.

 The playlist panel is not dockable.

Initially, the default layout is applied and its editing is locked, which is indicated by the checked "Lock layout" option in the "View" main menu:

Page 42 | Document version: 6ae6f26 This mode does not allow docking panels but their display can be switched on/off.

To enable layout editing, uncheck the "Lock layout" option in the "View" main menu.

To undock the panel, click the leftmost bar on the panel and drag it to the desired location:

While you drag, visual hints appear:

Page 43 | Document version: 6ae6f26 When the mouse cursor hovers over one of these hints, the highlighted area will show where the panel will be docked if you release the mouse button there.

Panel tabs can be docked as separate panels. To do this, click the tab caption and drag-and-drop the panel to a desired position:

To make the panel or tab floating, release the mouse button on the desired place outside the hints.

For all the panels to become fixed in their positions once the layout is created, check the "Lock layout" option in the "View" main menu.

To reset to the default layout, use the "Reset layout" command in the "View" main menu.

 Resetting the default layout causes playlist row height reset.

 Application restart is required for this action to take effect.

Automatic Opt-Out and Multichannel Variation Blocks

Specify the background highlight color for the automatic opt-out and multichannel variation blocks in the playlist in the "Automatic Opt-out blocks color" and "Multichannel variation blocks color" fields respectively.

The "Limit per hour" field defines the maximum number of minutes per hour for advertising. While the amount of advertising time does not exceed this limit, the variance value highlighted in blue color is displayed in the playlist beneath the block duration. If advertising time exceeds this limit, its variance value becomes highlighted in red:

The out-of-network duration is calculated for each opt-out block starting from the end time of the current block and one hour earlier. The broadcasted items are also included in this calculation.

The following illustration shows the sample playlist, for which the "Limit per hour" parameter is set to 12 minutes for automatic opt-out blocks. For the "Commercial Block 1" the total opt-out blocks duration is 10 minutes of advertising time and 2 spare minutes are highlighted in blue. Inserting Items to Empty Playlist

The "Insert items" window appears after you add a new playlist or when you add one or more items to the empty playlist table either in single channel or multi channel control mode:

Here you can set the exact time and date when the inserted item will go on-air.

Page 66 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The same window appears after you have added the follow item type to the end of the composed playlist after the last item had been broadcast in one of the control modes.

Source Error

Ensure that all the items being added to the playlist are of the compatible TV formats.

Otherwise, the following error message appears:

Special Items

Dummy Item

You can insert a dummy item into the playlist by pressing the "+Dummy" button or by selecting the "Insert" > "Dummy item" command from the context menu. Shift+D is the default keyboard shortcut.

It is possible to reassign the default shortcut used for a dummy item insertion and add a new  combination(s) via the keyboard customizer. Refer to the Keyboard article for more information about the keyboard customization.

This item is a reserved "empty" item with a fixed duration. It is used to reserve a fixed amount of time in the schedule, to be filled later with item(s) of a corresponding duration.

A dummy item is not broadcast. Operator must fill it in with appropriate clip(s) before going on-air. If this item is not completely filled when the previous item in the playlist is on-air, the dummy item is not marked as cued and is automatically skipped; the next actual playlist item is marked as cued and is broadcast instead.

Until filled in appropriately, dummy items are shown in red.

By default, the dummy item duration is 15 minutes, but you can change the default duration in the "Preferences" dialog.

 The duration of an item cannot be less than 0.5 seconds.

To fill in the dummy item, select the actual item in integrated browser or the Windows Explorer, hold the Ctrl key down and drag-and-drop the item into the selected dummy item position; the dummy will be filled with media and metadata of this item.

Page 67 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The dummy item behavior depends on the duration of an item it is filled with. If the inserted item is shorter, the dummy item is cropped correspondingly and placed after it.

If the inserted item is longer, the following dialog appears:

Press "Yes" to keep the original dummy item duration; in this case the clip Out point will be shifted back to match the required duration.

Choose "No" to preserve the duration of the new item.

Abort the replacement by pressing "Cancel".

Live Item

Depending on your playback configuration, a live signal goes from the defined input device or from IP (if the "Use RTP/UDP input" option is enabled) to output.

 Refer to the Playback device settings section in the Cinegy Playout manual for details about setting up the input and output devices.

Press the "+Live" button on the item editor panel to add a live item after the selected item. This command is also available from the "Item" main menu: "Insert" > "Live item". The default keyboard shortcut is Shift+L.

Page 68 | Document version: 6ae6f26 It is possible to reassign the default shortcut used for a live item insertion and add a new combination(s)  via the keyboard customizer. Refer to the Keyboard article for more information about the keyboard customization.

By default, the live item duration is 15 minutes, but you can change the default duration in the "Preferences" dialog.

 The duration of an item cannot be less than 0.5 seconds. For live items the In point is always set to 00:00:00:00.

To define the RTP/UDP source URL, select the "Item properties…" command from the live item context menu and switch to the "Parameters" tab. The description of "Live Source" parameters is given here.

Alternatively, you can simply drag-and-drop the RTP/UDP URL from the Cinegy Route Browser holding the Ctrl key down directly to the live item entry in the playlist.

Note Item

Press the "+Note" button or select the "Insert" > "Comment" command from the "Item" main menu to add a note to the playlist above the currently selected item. Adding a note does not affect your time scale. To edit a note, double-click it or press F2 and enter your new text. Hit Esc to cancel the operation.

Media Offline

If all media qualities for a particular footage are unavailable, the system displays the "Media Offline" text instead of showing the media material in Clip Viewer or in the preview window on the item editor panel. In this case, the emergency footage or color bars will be played back depending on the playout station configuration.

It is not possible to add a clip with unavailable footage to the playlist. In this case the error window appears:

Page 69 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Subtitles

Cinegy Air provides a simple way to "burn-in" the subtitles to the playout items in the playout list, before they are broadcast on air. External subtitle files of the following formats are currently supported: SRT, STL.

 Subtitles are not applied for dummy and live items.

To apply a subtitle file to the specified playlist item, select the "Subtitles" > "Insert subtitle track…" command from its context menu and in the dialog that appears browse for the desired subtitle file:

Page 70 | Document version: 6ae6f26 In the appeared window select the "Use Titler as renderer" option to enable subtitle rendering using Titler.

In this dialog window you can also specify the font to customize the subtitles display. For this select the "Use Font" option and specify the font family, color and outline settings.

Use the "Place subtitles within safe area" option for the subtitles to be displayed inside the inner boundaries of the safe area, ensuring that all subtitles text will be visible.

The subtitles display settings and effects can be specified in one subtitle style template XML file. Thus the unified style can be used for all subtitles. For this remove the selection of the "Use Font" option and browse for the subtitle style template file:

 You can use a subtitle style template XML file which was generated via legacy Titler plugin (within Cinegy Desktop) using the "Save style as file" command.

To remove the subtitle track, select the corresponding command from the "Subtitles" submenu. Subtitles can be viewed in

Page 71 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Clip Viewer.

Cinegy Titler Items

Cinegy Titler templates previously created via Cinegy Titler Editor can be inserted into Cinegy Air playlist as a primary event.

 Refer to the Cinegy Titler manual to learn more about creating and working with Cinegy Titler templates.

You can use Cinegy Browser, File Browser or Windows Explorer to navigate to the Cinegy Titler template file(s). Drag-and- drop the template to the desired position in the playlist. The following dialog will be open:

Here you can preview the template and define the variables values if necessary.

 The template variables can only be edited at this stage. Having inserted the template into the playlist, the variables values cannot be changed.

Press "OK" to add the template to the playlist.

If Cinegy Titler template has infinite loop defined as its duration, the template will be inserted into the playlist with duration equal to the value defined in the “Default Still duration” parameter. After insertion into the playlist, the duration of such item can be increased up to 3 hours.

 Cinegy Titler templates can also be added as secondary events for playlist items. Refer to the this paragraph to learn about adding Cinegy Titler templates as secondary events.

Managing Items

Multiselect

It is easy to select more than one item at once. Hold the Shift key down while clicking the last item you wish to select. This will select all items in between the first and the last clicked item. To select all playlist items, use the Ctrl+A keyboard shortcut assigned by default or choose the "Select all" command from the "Edit" main menu.

Page 72 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Copy and Paste

The copy and paste commands are available from "Edit" main menu:

• Cut – cuts the currently selected item(s). This command is available from the "Edit" main menu. The default keyboard shortcut for this action is Shift+Delete. To cut the selected item(s), you can also use the Ctrl+X keyboard shortcut. • Copy – copies the currently selected item(s). This command is available from the right-click menu. The default keyboard shortcut for this action is Ctrl+C. • Paste – inserts an exact duplicate of the previously copied item. This is very useful if you want to copy an item(s) from one position in the playlist to another. This command is available from the "Edit" main menu as shown above. The default keyboard shortcut for this action is Ctrl+V. • Paste below – inserts the copied data below the selected playlist item.

You can also copy items by dragging-and-dropping them inside the list. Select an item and hold the Ctrl key down during the action.

Moving Items in Playlist

To move an item to another playlist position, simply drag-and-drop it.

 Only one item can be moved at one time.

Replacing Items in Playlist

To replace an existing Cinegy Air playlist item with another one, drag a new item from integrated browser or Windows Explorer over the item that you wish to replace and drop it while holding the Ctrl key down.

 Integration with Cinegy Archive is not supported in Cinegy Air SOLO.

The following dialog appears asking you to define the parameters of replacement:

Page 73 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Select the "Keep secondary events" option to preserve the defined secondary events of the item after its content replacement. You can define to keep the secondary events only if they fit into new item duration by selecting the corresponding option.

To keep the duration value of the item whose content is being replaced, select "Keep original duration" option.

You can also define to keep the In and Out points of the original item if they fit into the new media duration. For example, there is a clip with 02:00:00:00 start timecode and its duration is 90 minutes. This clip has In point set at 02:30:00:00 and Out point at 03:00:00:00. This means that the playlist item duration is 30 minutes. If the new clip timecode is within 02:00:00:00 - 03:30:00:00 range, the IN and Out points will be preserved after media replacement. Otherwise, the In point will be set equal to the new clip start timecode, the playlist item duration is preserved and equal 30 minutes.

If there is more than one instance of an initial item in the playlist, you can replace all of them by checking the "Replace all instances of this item" option. The number in brackets indicates how many instances of the same item is present in current playlist.

Refreshing Items

When an item is dragged-and-dropped on top of another playlist item with the Alt key down, only the media content of the item is replaced with the In/Out points, metadata and secondary events are preserved. This will be automatically applied to all instances of the item having the same Traffic ID value as defined for the playlist item on which the new material is being dragged-and-dropped. If Traffic ID value is not defined, the new material is applied to all the instances of the initial item in the playlist. The confirmation dialog appears if more than one item will be refreshed during this operation.

 If any of the instances refers to the timecode which is unavailable in the new item, the whole operation will be cancelled.

Updating Items

When item is added to the playlist, its modification date is internally saved. If the file-based item or a node from Cinegy Archive is modified after being inserted to the playlist, this playlist item will be displayed in blue in the playlist table and it can be updated. Use the commands described below to update playlist item(s).

 If only the item metadata are updated, such playlist item will not be highlighted blue in the playlist.

Update Selected

The *.MCRitems added to the playlist from the defined (e.g. Inventory) shared folder can be overwritten according to the latest changes applied via the Cinegy Desktop application. The modifications in file-based items and Cinegy Archive nodes are also monitored. Once the item is modified and saved into the same location, it can be automatically refreshed in Cinegy Air by using the "Update selected" command. To perform this action, select the item you wish to update and choose the "Update selected" command from the "File" main menu:

Page 74 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Update All

Select the "Update all" command from the "File" main menu to update the content of all modified items in the playlist.

Once the updating has been completed, the report window will be displayed:

Removing an Item

You can remove an item from a playlist by pressing the "Remove" button or by selecting the "Delete" command from the "Edit" main menu. The default keyboard shortcut for this operation is Delete.

Adding a Comment

Page 75 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Hit Esc to cancel the operation.

Renaming Items

You can change the item name by double-clicking the selected item name field and entering a new name. It is also possible to rename the selected item in the item name field on the selected item editor panel by using the F2 keyboard shortcut. You can cancel the operation by hitting Esc.

Aspect Ratio

The "Orig Asp" column displays the original aspect ratio of the item. To set the source aspect ratio for files inserted into a playlist, select the required value from the "Orig Asp" pull-down list.

To change the target aspect ratio, choose the required format from the "Targ Asp" pull-down list. If the "Stretch" value is selected, the target video stream is stretched to fill the entire frame.

 Changing the target aspect ratio affects only the broadcasting video stream and does not modify the original item appearance.

Playout Conversion

Depending on the playlist item aspect ratio and considering the playout server aspect parameters, the appearance of the broadcast item on the playout screen can differ. The following tables display all possible combinations in detail:

Page 76 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Original Target 16:9 Channel Aspect Aspect Aspect Description Ratio Ratio Ratio

Page 77 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Custom Metadata

Cinegy Desktop allows to add custom metadata to video materials that are stored in Cinegy Archive database.

 Refer to the Descriptors, Presets article within the Cinegy Enterprise Manager Manual for details on how to create metadata fields.

The custom metadata descriptors can have text or boolean values.

Video material along with defined custom metadata can be exported as MCRitem and then used in a Cinegy Air playlist. Custom metadata values can also be used in CG templates with corresponding macros for sending to playout.

 Refer to the Macros article in the Cinegy Titler Manual for detailed description of working with macros.

Having inserted an MCRitem into the playlist, select the "Custom Metadata…" command from the "Item" main menu:

Alternatively, use the "Custom metadata" command from the selected item context menu.

The "Custom metadata" dialog will appear listing all available descriptors and their values for the currently selected item. Check the corresponding descriptor, it will be displayed in the playlist table in the new column:

Page 78 | Document version: 6ae6f26 To show all available custom metadata, use the "Display all custom metadata" command from the "View" main menu:

It will analyze all playlist items and create a column for each available custom metadata descriptor with their values display.

The custom metadata values can be changed directly in the playlist table.

 To enable custom metadata editing, make sure the "Metadata" option is enabled in the Cinegy Air Configurator.

 All changes made during editing can be undone and redone with the "Undo" and "Redo" commands from the right-click menu.

Playback Quality Degradation

To improve the reliability of the system, the quality degradation feature has been introduced. If the required quality goes offline for some reason, the next lower quality will be played back on-air with the frame-to-frame correspondence, without interrupting playout. When no lower quality is found, the emergency footage or color bars will be played back depending on the playout station configuration. If the required quality eventually goes online, the playback quality will be restored.

Managing Interrupted Items

If the clip was interrupted by an urgent item during the broadcast (by using the "Start Cued" command), the operator can easily resume the playback of this clip. This feature is especially useful if it is a long clip, e.g. a movie.

The marker point is created at the time of broadcast interruption.

Page 85 | Document version: 6ae6f26 When the interrupted item is copied and pasted or dragged-and-dropped to the lower part of the playlist after the currently broadcast item, you can open it in Cinegy Clip Viewer in the editing mode (using the "Edit" button on the panel or the "Edit in the clip viewer" context menu command), easily find the interruption point and adjust Mark In accordingly.

 If several playlist items are copied, and one of them is the interrupted item, the marker point is not created for it.

Programing Items

Setting Trigger Types

The following trigger types are available for applying to a playlist item:

follow

manual end

clocked

join-in-progress

Select an item and press the respective button to specify its trigger type.

The corresponding icon is shown in the "Start" or "End" column of the item depending on the trigger type.

Page 86 | Document version: 6ae6f26 These trigger icons are also displayed on the timeline.

 Please note that whenever an item trigger type is displayed against faded gray triangle it means that fade in or fade out effects are applied to it.

Follow

The selected item will start automatically on completion of the previous item. The Shift+F keyboard shortcut, assigned by default, sets follow play mode.

Manual End

The selected item will end when initiated manually. The Shift+M keyboard shortcut, assigned by default, sets manual play mode.

 When a manual end item is copied, the trigger type remains unchanged.

The manual end trigger can be set to the currently played item but only if there are more than 0.5 seconds left until its end.

Clocked

The selected item will start at the specified time. The Shift+C keyboard shortcut, assigned by default, sets clocked play mode.

 When a clocked item is copied, the trigger type changes to follow.

When the clocked item trigger type and start time are set correctly, the following items will fill the corresponding blocks one after another with no holes.

 You can set the fixed start time for any item by changing its trigger type into the clocked type. The following items start time will be recalculated automatically according to the time defined.

Join-in-Progress

Page 87 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The selected item will shorten if the previous item is longer than expected (e.g. live item). The Shift+J keyboard shortcut, assigned by default, sets join-in-progress play mode.

 If the previous item overrun is longer than the duration of the "join-in-progress" item, it will be skipped.

It is possible to reassign the default shortcut used to set follow, manual end or clocked mode for the item  and to add new combinations via the keyboard customizer. Refer to the Keyboard article for more information about the keyboard customization.

Loop

You can force the items to play in loop until you manually start the next item or until the next clocked item is automatically activated. To set the item as the first element of the loop, select the "Set loop start" command from the item context menu or use the "Loop" button on the item editor panel. To set the item as the last element of the loop, select the "Set loop end" command or use the "L. End" button on the item editor panel. The respective icons will be displayed in the "End" column.

To manually start the item outside the loop, cue it and then use the "Start Cued" button or the corresponding command from the "Playout" main menu.

If there is a clocked item outside the loop, it will be started on its defined start time and the loop will exit.

Start Time

To set the specific start time for the selected item, set its trigger type to clocked and enter the new start time on the start indicator on the item editor panel:

The start time can also be changed in the "Start Time" playlist column.

The start time for each non-clocked item is calculated automatically based on the previous clocked item start time and the duration of the preceding items.

If the start time is not properly set and there are gaps between timecodes of the items in the playlist, (for instance, when the item start time has been set manually), then the incorrect timecode and the previous item duration is displayed in red.

Page 88 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The time value in the "Variance" column indicates the schedule disruptions ("+" indicates a "gap" in the schedule, while "–" indicates the item overlaps with the next item).

If the gap between two items is more than 24 hours, it will be displayed as ">24" in the "Variance" column. The exact value of the time gap is specified in the item properties.

When the selected item start time is set, its countdown time starts. The countdown "Time to Start" timer is located on the item editor panel:

Start Time Auto-Calculation

Cinegy Air performs automatic start time recalculation if the start time or duration of one or more items is changed. This happens if an item is added, removed or skipped, or if the In and Out points are shifted. If you set a fixed start time for a clocked item and time gaps appear, you can change the trigger type to follow and the start time will automatically be recalculated.

Time Controls

There are fields on the item editor panel representing information about start time, duration and date of the selected item.

 Item duration can be changed directly from the item editor panel using double-click.

It is easy to control the time left until start, with the help of the countdown timer on the item editor panel.

Skip

To set or cancel the skip status for the selected Cinegy Air playlist items or the whole program, use the "Skip" button on the item editor panel.

To set or cancel the skip status for the selected block(s), use the "Skip block" command from the cascaded "Block" menu in the right-click menu. Alternatively, use the "Skip" button, but the block must be collapsed first.

The overall time and duration calculations are not affected by the skipped item duration and secondary events. The items in the skipped program or block are also excluded from calculations.

Page 89 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Custom Categories

The playlist items can be marked with categories of the specified color to visually differentiate types of content like commercial items, TV ratings, etc.

The category can be defined for each individual playlist item. For this click within the "Category" cell of the playlist item, the drop-down list with default categories will be shown:

Select the category you want to apply for this item.

To delete the applied custom category, select "No category" for this item.

The custom categories are created via the "Preferences" dialog.

The "Hide CG Layers" functionality enables automatic CG layers deactivation of a particular item when its broadcast has already finished. Selecting the required options automatically deactivates the corresponding CG layers once the item

Page 95 | Document version: 6ae6f26 broadcast is finished:

 This functionality is available only for Cinegy Titler graphics.

Secondary Events

The secondary events panel is located at the bottom of the application and has a table view with the following columns:

• Offset – defines the time offset from the item start/end (depending on the value defined in the "From" field);

 Specify the offset value to be able to edit the "Device" and "Command" fields.

• From – defines whether offset is calculated from the beginning or from the end of the current item; • Absolute – defines the time when the event will be sent to the device (is set automatically depending on the offset value and iten start time);

 The "Absolute" value is not editable.

• Name – defines the name of the secondary event; • Description – specifies the event description; • Device – defines the device that will receive the event; • Command – defines the command; • Option1…3 – defines the command options; • ID – defines the secondary event ID which is logged into the as-run log for every event raised.

Setting Offset

There are two ways to set the offset:

• You can enter it manually into the offset field (in hours:minutes:seconds:frames). The offset value can be positive or negative value. • It can be calculated automatically. To do this, select the "Find the event offset…" context menu command.

Page 96 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The "Cinegy clip viewer" window appears:

Find the desired frame and press the arrow button. The offset will be automatically calculated and recorded into the offset field of the secondary events table. To cancel the operation, hit the Esc key.

A secondary event with incorrectly specified offset time will not be fired. In this case, proper color indication is used for convenience. A secondary event will not be fired if positive offset time reaches the next playlist item. In this case, the "Absolute" field will be highlighted in red.

Please note, a secondary event may also fail to fire at the end of the item with zero offset; similar color  indication will be used in this case. It is recommended to fire the event at least several frames before the item end.

Page 97 | Document version: 6ae6f26 If a negative value is used for offset time and it is out of the previous item boundaries (for example, the timecode value is before the previous item Start), the time in the "Absolute" field will be displayed in red and the event will not be fired.

 In control mode, the "Offset" and "Absolute" values are read-only for the items being played back.

Favorites

An event can be added to "Favorites" list. This functionality allows to create the list of frequently used events (e.g. logotypes, branded CG templates, etc.) and apply them easily when necessary.

There are two Favorite events collections: “Common Favorites” and “Channel Favorites”. The "Common Favorites" are accessible in both playlist editor and multi-channel modes. Favorite events from “Channel Favorites” collection are accessible in their corresponding channel.

Common Favorites

To add an event to the "Common Favorites" list in the playlist editor mode, select it in the secondary events panel and use the "Add to the Favorites…" command the from the right-click menu. The following dialog appears:

Page 98 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Specify a more meaningful name of the Favorite event or leave the default one. You can add an event to the root of Favorites, or organize it into a separate group. To create a new group of events, press the "New Group" button:

Enter the name of your custom group and specify the group where it will be located.

Having specified the name and the location of your Favorite event, press "OK". The event with its parameters will be added to the list of "Common Favorites" events.

To edit and organize your saved Favorite events, use the "Edit Favorites…" context menu command. The following window will appear in the playlist editor mode:

In this editor, you can edit and delete events as well as add new groups and events.

To add a new group here, select the new group location folder, press the "New Group" button and enter the group name.

You can organize elements by selecting them and dragging-and-dropping them to the desired position or folder.

 The "Insert All" command is available within a group of Favorite events to insert all group items at once.

Secondary events can be also applied via the "Add events from Favorites" command from playlist item right-click menu. This allows applying secondary events to multiple selected playlist items.

Several secondary events can be selected and applied to the item. To do this, choose the desired secondary events holding the Shift key and use the "Copy" context menu command. Navigate to the required playlist item and use the "Paste" command available from the context menu. This allows several secondary events to be applied for a single playlist item.

Channel Favorites

In the multi-channel mode the channel Favorites are accessible.

The events added to this collection will be available only for the channel where they were created.

 The events added to the common Favorites in multi-channel mode will be available for all channels.

The process of Favorite events managing is identical for playlist editor and multi-channel modes.

Page 101 | Document version: 6ae6f26 To add a stored Favorite event to the events table, select the event you need from the corresponding "Insert from common Favorites" or "Insert from channel Favorites" right-click menu. The event will be added to the events table.

The current servers statuses are shown on top of the playout control panel. The possible combinations of control monitors are shown below:

Page 126 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Working with Items

In control mode you can do nearly all operations that you can do in playlist editor mode with the following difference: the item will be copied in case you wish to move passed, on-air or cued items.

 Refer to the articles from the Handling Items section for detailed descriptions of working with items.

The playlist items are played back one by one from the first clocked item on the schedule in accordance to the following item start time. If there is a gap between successive items, the last frame of the previous played item will be broadcast until the new item goes on-air.

The on-air item can be edited. Once the item currently being broadcast is opened in the Clip Viewer, it is possible to define the Out point or split this item at the selected position, with a 3-second safety margin. When the item is split, the remaining part is placed as a separate item in the playlist right beneath the on-air item and automatically cued.

Item Status, Coloring and Font

All items in the playlist have a background color. The color changes according to the item status. The coloring and styles of the playlist entry can also be changed according to playlist programming.

Status

The column displays the possible status values of an item. In playlist editor mode they are:

the item is ready for playout

the item is skipped

live item

dummy item

the item is empty

the In-Out range of the clip is greater than the In-Out range of the source file

In control mode possible status values of an item are as follows:

Page 127 | Document version: 6ae6f26 the item is already broadcast

the item is on-air

the item is ready for playout

the item is skipped

live item

the item is cued

dummy item

the item is empty

the In-Out range of the item is greater than the In-Out range of the source file; the item media is unavailable

Coloring

 To disable the use of italic fonts in the playlist‘s editable fields, deselect the "Use italic font for the editable fields" option in the "Preferences" window. Refer to the Preferences article for details.

Page 128 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Analyzing Playlist Media

The media included into the playlist is automatically processed by the Air control application to verify its availability as well as indicate any modifications that have been applied to it.

If the media of a particular playlist item is unavailable or cannot be located, the corresponding item is displayed in red coloring:

As soon as the media becomes available the item coloring changes to default.

 The playlist item inserted from the Cinegy Archive database and having multiple levels of quality is analyzed only to detect the availability of the highest quality.

The item modification is checked within two different scenarios.

In the first scenario the media of the item added to the playlist directly from the local storage is analyzed. Once any update has been applied to the media since its adding to the playlist and its modification date is newer, the playlist item will be displayed in blue coloring:

To update the item use the "Update selected" command form the selected item menu.

 Please note that in the described above case the original playlist item duration is not updated.

The second scenario is related to the items inserted from the Cinegy Archive database. These items can be updated using the "Update selected" command from the selected item menu; MCRItems duration is updated as well.

 Multiple items can be updated at one time.

 Only the modified MCRItems can be updated. Refer to the Integration with Cinegy Desktop section to get more information on MCRitems.

 If any proxying has been generated for the modified item it will rerun automatically.

Proxied Items

 Items proxying is not supported in Cinegy Air SOLO.

With the item proxying feature configured in Cinegy Playout, every item will be proxied in the background process. The items proxy status is shown in % in the "Proxy" playlist column:

Page 129 | Document version: 6ae6f26  The proxy value for the on-air item only shows a rate of proxying for the material yet to be played back without regard to the part that has already been played back.

In order to use the item proxying during the ingest, the duration for the item being ingested should be set precisely. If the number of frames is unknown, 0 frames should be defined (e.g. 01:40:35:00).

For the items to be successfully proxied, the ingest progress for the current item should be at least 3%; for  short items this value should be not less than 1.5%. Then the proxying of the item inserted into the playlist should reach 10% rate and then it will be ready to be sent on-air.

Coloring

Different proxying stages are shown with different colors:

The proxy status of the item currently being proxied is shown in blue.

The proxy status of the item not being proxied at the moment is shown in black.

The proxy status of the item currently being uploaded from the proxy server is shown in grey.

The red background of the proxy status indicates the item source unavailability or failure when reading the item. When this occurs with the on-air item, the progress of proxying is counted backwards and proxied media is played back directly from the proxy folder. The yellow background indicates that the whole item or some part of the item was proxied with autodegradation (in lower quality).

 Quality degradation should be enabled on the "Proxy" tab of the Cinegy Playout Configurator. Refer to the Proxy article in the Cinegy Playout Manual for detailed description of proxy setup.

The proxy creation progress of each item is also shown on the timeline in the form of a light blue progress bar:

Drop Proxy

The "Drop proxy" option allows to rerun proxying of the defined item in the playlist. This command is available from the item context menu or via the "Drop proxy" command from the "Item" main menu:

Page 130 | Document version: 6ae6f26 This function can be used for items proxied with autodegradation while the high quality proxy files are needed; or when a problem during item proxying has occurred. All created proxy chunks are deleted and new item proxying starts.

Items Fade IN/Out

It is possible to fade in and fade out the playlist items. The fade in and fade out behavior is adjusted by defining the corresponding number of frames for the image transition to or from black. Fading is also applied for audio within the item. To configure the fade in/out effect, select the required item and choose the "Item fades…" command available from the item context menu or via the "Fades.." command from the "Item" main menu:

Page 131 | Document version: 6ae6f26 In the opened dialog specify the frame number you want to item transition start by selecting the "Fade in" option and entering the desired number of frames in the corresponding field:

Audio Controls

Audio VU Meters

There are four pairs of stereo audio indicators displayed between control monitors on the playout control panel. VU meters are intended to help program producers maintain consistent volume levels across all the items in the playlist. Each indicator controls a definite audio channel.

The scales have the following areas for the instant level display (the values here are in the user scale):

• Green (below 0 dB) • Yellow (0 to 4 dB)

Page 138 | Document version: 6ae6f26 • Red (above 4 dB)

At the top of the scale is an additional color indicator. It shows the integrated status of the signal (during approximately the last 1.5 seconds). The following states are indicated (note, the value here is absolute, in dBFS, or dB Full Scale):

• Black digital silence (below -120 dBFS) • Green signal (below -6 dBFS) • Red signal (above -6 dBFS)

The zero level of the VU meter is adjustable to the requirements of your organization.

 Use Ctrl+M shortcut to mute audio preview when viewing material in Cinegy Air. This will not affect audio on air.

Adjusting the Zero dB Level

Use the Cinegy Air Configurator to set up the zero dB level for the VU meter. Open it and set up audio VU meter zero (dB) parameter:

The value indicates the distance in dB between the maximum digital level and the zero of the VU meter. Note that the zero level value should be set up within the bounds of -20 and 0; otherwise you will not be able to apply your settings as the "OK" button in Cinegy Air Configurator will be grayed out.

Volume Control

The volume control slider is located to the right of the audio VU meter. It allows you to change the volume level for the on-air item by moving the slider with the mouse. This control can be disabled by selecting the "Preserve original audio" option in Cinegy Air PRO configurator. The volume can also be adjusted via the corresponding commands in the "Playout" main menu. It is possible to assign the custom shortcuts for these commands to make volume adjustment faster.

 To mute, move the volume control slider to the bottom.

Page 141 | Document version: 6ae6f26  Please note that the clock is set to display time defined via channels configuration

Channel Preview

Cinegy Air has the optional panel for the multi channel playout preview displaying the outputs from all the configured channels. To open it, select the "Monitor Panel" option in the "View" main menu.

In single channel control mode this panel will display only one channel.

 Refer to the Channels Preview paragraph for detailed information about the multi channel playout preview panel.

1.12. Regional Variations

Automatic Opt-Out

Cinegy Air Control application allows to broadcast regional variations apart from the main programming channel, thus providing programming specific for a particular region. A common example of using regional variations is local news or advertisements.

Regional variations broadcast can be achieved using the automatic opt-out and multichannel variation.

Automatic Opt-Out

Configuration of this workflow should be done on both main and regional channels sides.

Main Channel Configuration

To configure the opt-out workflow on the main channel side, follow the steps:

Page 142 | Document version: 6ae6f26 1. Create a playlist; add content to be broadcast as an RTP or UDP stream to the regional channel. 2. Set the "Automatic opt-out" block type for that content and define its "Avail Id":

3. The playlist containing opt-out blocks can be exported for further use in regional channels. To do this, use the "Export opt-out playlist…" command from the "File" main menu.

 In the exported playlist, opt-out blocks are cleared and marked as empty; "Avail Id" is preserved. All items outside opt-out blocks are replaced with live items (one per block), preserving their duration.

4. Configure the RTP/UDP output for Cinegy Playout instance to be used for playlist broadcasting from the main channel. In the "RTP/UDP output transport settings" dialog, make sure to select the "SCTE35 cueing messages stream PID" option and define the PID value to enable SCTE35 messaging:

Automatic opt-out workflow can be also built using SDI signal. SCTE104 messages are embedded in VANC at line 11 in the SDI output signal. The line number parameter is hidden in the configuration and can be changed directly in the instance configuration file. Insertion of SCTE104 can be disabled by setting the line number parameter to 0. Decoding of the SCTE104 messages is not currently supported.

 SCTE104 message embedding is not supported for UHD/8K formats.

Regional Channel Configuration

To configure the workflow on the regional channel side, follow the steps below:

1. Create a playlist that will use content from the main channel, set the same "Avail Id" for automatic opt-out blocks.

Page 143 | Document version: 6ae6f26  Alternatively, you can use the playlist template generated on the main channel as it described in point 3. Fill in the opt-out blocks with regional content.

2. For the Cinegy Playout instance that will receive the RTP stream from the main channel, define the settings of RTP input and listening for the SCTE35 cueing stream:

The "Enable RTP/UDP input" option activates automatic use of IP signal as the live feed for an RTP/UDP live item playout of content received from the main channel. The source URL defined here will be used as default RTP/UDP input for Live items in the playlist if "RTP/UDP Live Source" is not configured in the Live item parameters in Cinegy Air.

The "Listen for SCTE35 cueing stream" option should be selected to enable listening for SCTE 35 packets; the RTP/UDP URL should be specified in the "Source url" field.

 Refer to the RTP Input article in the Cinegy Playout Manual for detailed information on RTP input setup.

Multichannel Variation

Multichannel Variation

Multichannel variation blocks are used in the workflow when several channels are configured to follow the same playlist, but each channel should have its own window when it plays region-specific content like local news or commercials.

To configure this workflow, follow the steps:

Page 144 | Document version: 6ae6f26 1. In the Cinegy Air Configurator in multi channel control mode, define the same playlist for all channels. The "Shared playlist" option will become disabled for these channels.

2. In a Cinegy Air playlist, set the "Multichannel variation" type for the block that will have regional variation in content. Then fill the block with the corresponding items.

 When the block type is changed to "Multichannel variation", the first item in the block receives the "clocked" trigger.

1.13. Keyboard

For convenience in work with Cinegy Air according to your requirements, assign the shortcut keys using the "Keyboard…"

Page 145 | Document version: 6ae6f26 command from the "Edit" main menu:

The "Customize Keyboard" dialog appears:

Select the required command by navigating in the "Categories" and "Commands" fields. The selected command description is displayed in the "Description" field.

The categories list of the "Customize Keyboard" dialog differs depending on the application mode: the  categories supported in playlist editor mode only are not available in single/multi channel control mode and vice versa.

The "Current keys" field displays all the assigned shortcuts for the selected command, if any.

Page 146 | Document version: 6ae6f26 To delete an existing shortcut, select it from the list and press the "Remove" button.

To assign a new shortcut for the selected command, press the desired keys combination in the "Press new shortcut key" field and press the "Assign" button. If the specified shortcut is already enabled to any other command, the corresponding command name will appear in the "Currently assigned" field. Pressing the "Assign" button in this case enables the entered shortcut for the selected command anyway.

To reset all the changes, press the "Reset All…" button.

Press the "Close" button to confirm the changes and close the dialog box.

1.14. Audio Profile Editor

Audio Profile Editor is a separate application within the Cinegy Air installation that provides an easy, convenient and intuitive interface for creating and editing audio profiles. Audio mapping profiles, audio ducking profiles and AC-3 encoder profiles can be managed here.

Audio Profile Editor

The Audio Profile Editor window consists of two panels:

The left panel contains three groups of profiles:

• audio mapping profiles; • audio ducking profiles;

When expanding each group, the list of the corresponding profiles is displayed.

The right panel displays the details and commands for working with the selected profile.

To load a previously created profile in the XML format, press the "Load" button and browse for the required file using the common "Open" dialog.

Having finished working with the profiles, press the "Save" button to save the audio matrix presets in a separate XML file. The common "Save As" dialog will open asking you to specify the name and location of the XML file.

Page 147 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Press "OK" to save the changes and close the Audio Profile Editor window. If no changes should be applied, press the "Cancel" button.

In order for the custom profiles to be available during the Cinegy Air playlist composing, the saved audio matrix presets XML file should be specified in the Cinegy Air configurator.

 Refer to the Configuration section for more information about specifying audio matrix presets in the Cinegy Air configurator.

Audio Mapping Profiles

The profiles for mapping audio inputs to audio outputs are managed in the "Audio Mapping Profiles" paragraph of Audio Profile Editor.

Sample Profile

The sample audio mapping profile is included to give the starting point for creating a custom profile.

Choose the "Sample" subcategory in "Audio Mapping Profiles"; the right panel will display the details and default description of the selected profile:

To get familiar with the audio matrices, use the "Edit profile…" link. The "Matrix Editor" will open. It is described later in this article.

Creating a New Profile

To create a new audio mapping profile, select the title of the corresponding section and use the "Create new profile" link:

Page 148 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The default details of the newly created profile will be displayed on the right panel of the window:

You can specify the profile description entering the desired text in the "Description" field.

Audio Matrix Editor

Proceed with specifying the profile parameters and use the "Edit profile…" link. The following window will open:

Page 149 | Document version: 6ae6f26 The Matrix Editor provides a graphic interface for routing and mixing different input channels to different outputs. Each input can be routed to any combination of outputs. Several input channels can be connected to one output channel at the same time. In this case, the signals are mixed together.

To change the default profile name, enter a new one in the "Name" field.

Select the "Default" checkbox to make the profile being edited a default profile used for new items added to the Cinegy Air playlist. The default profile is displayed in bold in the corresponding profiles drop-down list in Audio Profile Editor.

The "Dimension" drop-down list allows you to choose the audio matrix grid size, i.e. a number of input and output channels.

By default each output channel is set to receive only the signal from the corresponding input channel.

To create a mix, use the corresponding adjustment controls. While keeping the left mouse button pressed over the control, move the mouse left or right; the current value is shown as a decimal below the adjustment knob. The minimum, maximum and middle values can be set simply by clicking on the desired value displayed around the adjustment knob. The exact value can also be entered in the field below.

The zero value means that the input channel is routed to the output channel without any additional mixes. The "-100" value disables the input channel from mixing and deactivates the control.

Having specified the necessary input-to-output relations, press "OK" to finish the profile creation.

To delete a profile, select it in the "Audio Mapping Profiles" list on the left panel and use the "Remove profile" link.

Page 150 | Document version: 6ae6f26 Audio Ducking Profiles

The audio ducking profiles are necessary for using the audio ducking feature.

 Refer to the Audio Ducking paragraph for detailed information on audio ducking.

The process of creating and editing audio ducking profiles is similar to that for audio mapping profiles described in the previous paragraph.

The Matrix Editor for audio ducking profile is as follows:

The "Main Level" slider defines the audio attenuation level of the main signal (all channels) before merging it with the ducking signal.

The matrix specifies the mixing pattern of the ducking signal.

1.15. Cinegy Air File Extensions

When connection to the playout server is lost, the green indicator changes to red; the server name is displayed in red as well.

If two or more playout servers are defined in the Cinegy CG "Settings" dialog and all of them are properly connected, broadcasting is carried out on all of them. When connection to either of playout servers is lost, broadcasting proceeds on the connected server(s):

Press the "Reconnect" button on the main toolbar to re-establish connection.

Re-established connection to the main server does not automatically resume the CG template broadcasting on all layers. To restart the template, press the "Play" button for the corresponding layers.
