ABC Kids Early Education

Disclaimer: ASEPA (Australian Special Education Principals Association) have joined together with UK- based nasen (National Association for Special Educational Needs) to work in partnership to crowd-source free resources that may be useful in supporting children with complex and/or additional learning needs.

Who is this resource for?

This is a Teaching and learning resource developed to support early childhood educators around . The website offers you a range of content aligned with priorities in early childhood pedagogy. It is also linked to relevant series on ABC iview and provides direct links to Play School Through the Windows films; and to these curriculum areas:

1. Family, Community and Culture 2. Sustainability and Nature 3. Creativity and Self-Expression 4. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) 5. Health and Wellbeing

Informed by National approved learning frameworks and the inspiring big ideas driving early childhood curriculum in Australia and internationally, ABC Kids content reflects the diverse interests and perspectives of a young audience.

1. Access ABC Early Education here or go to https://www.abc.net.au/abckids/early- education/

You can access the website and watch episodes without a log in. You are also able to log in and create an account in these ways:

As parents of students who may have additional learning and support needs or disabilities, you may need some help to make all of this technology work for your child. Below is a link to some ‘How to Videos’ to support parents with making it easier to work online.

Tips for parents or carers

The big ideas within curriculum areas are linked to ABC episodes and to different learning activities. This resource including ‘Notes for Educators’ are available to help extend ideas emerging from our shows and podcasts. These resources help you delve a little deeper – facilitating deeper understandings and promoting ongoing discovery. This is illustrated below using the family, community and culture theme.
