August 10, 2016 WATCH MITSKI's VIDEO for “HAPPY” May 23, 2016 For Immediate Release Watch Mitski’s “Happy” Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ0O2vDT0VE Puberty 2 Out June 17th on Dead Oceans Mitski will release Puberty 2, her fourth studio album and debut for Dead Oceans, on June 17th. The following week, she embarks on a North American tour beginning with a run of already sold out shows in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. After releasing the bold video for rapturously praised lead single, “Your Best American Girl,” Mitski now presents the meticulously crafted video for widely lauded second single, “Happy.” Directed by Maegan Houang, who came up with her own completely out of the box narrative, the “Happy” video perfectly captures Mitski’s idea of the exhausting and exhaustive cycle of the fleeting nature of happiness. “Mitski resists psychic death by constantly pushing forth into bolder textures, refusing to be meek and sedated even as joy feels compromised . every element combines to a powerful, tarnished fanfare that's neither joyful nor morose, but possessed of a strange confidence that serves as an anchor against slipping into either emotional extreme.” — Pitchfork [Best New Track] “It’s a song whose changes in tone and shape feel hard to contain, yet its message is ebb-tide: happiness comes, happiness goes.” — The New York Times [The Playlist] “Between the St. Vincent-esque vibes and pretty melodies, ‘Happy’ makes a case that sometimes disappointment isn’t so bad.” — Entertainment Weekly [A-] “But although her lyrics find only a weary sense of dejection in the endless cycle between fleeting moments of happiness and the perpetual comedown of living, the song still manages to point towards a reason to keep trudging forward: it sounds so fucking good.” — Stereogum [#1 in The 5 Best Songs of the Week] Mitski’s North American tour kicks off the week following the release of Puberty 2. As previously noted, the live band will be a three-piece: Mitski (bass/vocals), Callan Dwan (guitar) and Casey Weissbuch (drums). Japanese Breakfast and Jay Som will support. Music can help people in so many ways like when you are sad you can listen to happy music, if you can't sleep you can turn on calming music that doesn't have any lyrics, or you can put on sad music if you just want to let out a cry. Music can also motivate you or inspire you to do something. Music helps me by calming me down when I'm stressed, makes me happy when I am sad or angry, or sometimes I just listen to sad music because I just feel like it. Music also helps me fall asleep faster. When I listen to music I feel like I'm in a whole different world and in that world all my worries, problems and stress goes away and I feel happy. Music is important to me because a lot of songs have really deep meanings to them. Music inspires me to make my own music or learn to play the piano or guitar.

MOAB IS MY WASHPOT Stephen Fry For You The Book of D., Verse 10, Chapter 11 To live is to war with trolls in heart and soul. To write is to sit in judgement on oneself. Henrik Ibsen The interests of a writer and the interests of his readers are never the same and if, on occasion, they happen to coincide, this is a lucky accident. W. H. Auden MOAB IS MY WASHPOT Joining In ‘Look Marguerite... England!’ Closing lines of The Scarlet Pimpernel, 1934 1 FOR SOME REASON I recall it as just me and Bunce. No one else in the compartment at all. Just me, eight years and a month old, and this inexpressibly small dab of misery who told me in one hot, husky breath that his name was Samuelanthonyfarlowebunce. I remember why we were alone now. My mother had dropped us off early at Paddington Station. My second term. The train to Stroud had a whole carriage reserved for us. Usually by the time my mother, brother and I had arrived on the platform there would have been a great bobbing of boaters dipping careless farewells into a sea of entirely unacceptable maternal hats. Amongst the first to arrive this time, my brother had found a compartment where an older boy already sat amongst his opened tuck-box, ready to show off his pencil cases and conker skewers while I had moved respectfully forward to leave them to it. I was still only a term old after all. Besides, I wasn’t entirely sure what a conker skewer might be.
