Triptykon: Requiem, Century Media / Sony Music TAXI Nr. 175 21.

Warrior, from Celtic Frost and Triptykon, started back in 1982 a band called Hellhammer. The band existed for a mere two years, from May 1982 to May 1984. During this time, the band released three demos, one 12-inch EP, and two songs on the legendary "Death Metal" compilation album. The band disbanded when Hellhammer members Tom Gabriel Warrior and Martin Eric Ain went on to form Celtic Frost. Warrior has made it clear; Hellhammer will never return and will never be reformed. Still the music exists, and it is an extremely important part of Tom G. Warrior's life and extreme metal in general – widely credited as pioneers of extreme metal. Even if Hellhammer is a band of the past, Warrior had an urge to perform the classics on stage. This is when Triumph of Death became an reality. Triumph of Death is a band solely dedicated to perform the legendary music from Hellhammer.

  • Musician Tom Warrior on Channeling Your Emotions Into Art
To help you grow your creative practice, our website is available as an email. Subscribe April 29, 2019 - As told to J. Bennett, 3298 words. Tags: Music, Art, Creative anxiety, Collaboration, Multi-tasking, Beginnings. On channeling your emotions into art Musician Tom Warrior on being confronted by your past work, coping with writer’s block, and learning from a master. You’ve been involved in at least three highly revered metal bands over the course of your career: Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and Triptykon. How has your artistic approach evolved over the years? I don’t think the basic approach has changed much from my early days. What has really changed is the experience I’ve gathered. I’ve been a musician for 38 years now, which is a staggering number for me, and if you had told the young Tom that he will be a musician for so many years, he wouldn’t have believed you. But it is as it is, and of course unless you’re a completely closed person you gather experience on every level during such a time in the music industry and the music scene—ranging from working with other people and trying to establish creative bridges with other people, to technical studio experience and routine as a player. And that’s really the area where it’s changed. My personal approach, my attempts to convert some of my emotions into music and lyrics, I think I’m still handling them pretty much the same as I did in Hellhammer. When you started Hellhammer in the early ’80s in Switzerland, you were quite isolated from the rest of the heavy metal world.

The gallery will host an opening reception on October 4th from 8-11pm. ‘Resurrection’ will include a striking collection of Vincent’s paintings, which are created exclusively in his own human blood. *In the privacy of his studio, Vincent practices a kind of modern-day phlebotomy, siphoning the life force which he believes contains his own psychic energy, while giving it an outlet and form. In doing so, he dissolves the barrier between artist and art in a most literal and immediate sense. *This retrospective encompasses all of Vincent’s available work from the beginning of his career and aims to examine the congruency of life and death. *VINCENT CASTIGLIA is the first American artist to receive a solo exhibition invitation from Oscar Award-winning artist H.R. Giger in the history of the H. R. Giger Museum Gallery. Vincent’s art has been praised by fellow artists, musicians, and other notables throughout his career. “With such precise technique, his depiction of human musculature is nothing short of outstanding.” – Paul Booth / World-renowned Tattooist, Artist, Gallery Owner, Fanatical Nihilist “If the body is the temple, then the heart is the altar and the blood is the sacred flame that enlightens the shrine.

  • The Magic of Thulcandra Is That They're Really
“The magic of Thulcandra is that they’re really fucking good. It’s not just nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake.” (Decibel Magazine) One might argue that the artist’s intent is irrelevant. In Thulcandra’s case, taking the bands’ aesthetic intentions into consideration not only enriches and elevates the experience of the music, it also enhances its value for extreme metal. When Thulcandra was founded in 2003 by Obscura’s lead guitarist and vocalist Steffen Kummerer and Juergen Zintz, it was done with one intention: To celebrate the music of bands from the golden age of Swedish extreme metal such as Dissection, Sacramentum and Unanimated; songs that comprehend, reinterpret and pay tribute to old-school Swedish blackened death metal and its overall aesthetic. Yet, after the demo “Perishness Around Us” was released in 2004 and preparations for the recording of Thulcandra’s first studio album were already taking place, events took a grim turn. All activities came to an abrupt end when Juergen Zintz tragically committed suicide. Thulcandra was reborn when Tobias and Sebastian Ludwig (both Wraithcult, Ex-Helfahrt) und session drummer Seraph (Dark Fortress) joined forces with Kummerer in 2009 – and the band’s debut album “Fallen Angel’s Dominion” was finally recorded. With its release in 2010, a merciless winter storm was unleashed upon the masses that can only be described as the an accurate homage to Dissection, including the infamous “blue” Necrolord cover artwork and the grim reaper imagery. By doing so, Thulcandra was coming “as close as possible to reviving those fallen heroes of old” as angrymetalguy.com put it.
