I am proud to report that Isle of (Newport District) Wight County’s efforts to develop an intermodal park to support the growth gbdjmjuz!bu!Tijsmfz!U/!Ipmmboe!Joufsnpebm!Qbsl/!Ju!jt!fyqboebcmf!up!pof!njmmjpo!! at the Port of Virginia, is already paying off. In July, LDI/Safco Products James B. Brown, Jr., trvbsf!gffu!boe!bwbjmbcmf!gps!jnnfejbuf!mfbtf/ Company announced plans to invest $17 million to build a distribution facility Vice-Chairman at the Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park. The company broke ground and (Hardy District) moved in the building within four and a half months, proving the County’s expedited site plan review process works, and putting our park on the radar Phillip A. Bradshaw, screens of developers and site selection consultants across the country. The (Carrsville District) County also continued land acquisition efforts for future development. Al Casteen, A new effort by the County’s rural economic development division was the formation of the Virginia Plastic (Smithfield District) Bag Coalition in partnership with the Virginia Retail Federation to examine the impact of plastic bag litter on the agricultural community. The coalition’s goal is to implement a County wide public educational Thomas J. Bank failures, bankruptcies and bailouts made headlines throughout the nation. Our existing industry began feeling the slow down in business, which resulted in some tough Benjojtusbujpo decisions - the announcement of a line shutdown and layoffs at International Paper and the closing of W. Douglas Caskey, Franklin Equipment Company, a 50-year-old family business. The County will not feel the full impact of County Administrator these losses until fiscal year 2011. Patrick J. Leone Report Prepared for Charles Carroll House of Annapolis, Inc. by Archaeology in Annapolis A Cooperative Project between Historic Annapolis Foundation and The University of Maryland at College Park 2002 Abstract and Executive Summary In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Archaeology in Annapolis was invited to excavate the Carroll House and garden on 107 Duke of Gloucester Street in Annapolis, Maryland. The site, named the St. Mary's Site (18AP45) for the Catholic church on the property, is currently owned by the Redemptorists, a Roman Catholic congregation of priests and brothers who have occupied the site since 1852. Prior to the Redemptorists' tenure, the site was owned by the Carroll family from 1701-1852 and is perhaps best known as the home of Charles Carroll of Carrollton (1737-1832), signer of the Declaration of Independence. Excavations at the site were conducted during four consecutive summer seasons from 1987- 1990. The investigation focused on three research questions. The first line of inquiry were questions surrounding the dating, architectural configuration, and artifact deposits of the "frame house," a structure adjoining the west wall of the brick Carroll House via a "passage" and later a three story addition.
