  • Batman Year One Proprosal by Larry and Andy
BATMAN YEAR ONE PROPROSAL BY LARRY AND ANDY WACHOWSKI The scene is Gotham City, in the past. A party is going on and from it descends Thomas Wayne with his wife Martha, and son Bruce. They are talking, with Bruce chatting away about how he wants to see The Mark of Zorro again. Obviously they have just come from a movie premiere. As they turn a corner to their car, they are met by a hooded gunman who tries holding them up. There is a struggle and the Wayne parents are murdered in a bloodbath. Bruce is left there, when he is met by a police officer. There is a screech and a bat flies overhead... Twenty years have passed. Bruce is now twenty‐eight and quite dynamic. The main character has been travelling the world, training for a war on crime, to avenge his parents' deaths. He is at the Ludlow International Airport, where his butler Alfred picks him up. The two drive to Wayne Manor, just outside of Gotham. Bruce watches the city from the distance. The scene moves to downtown Gotham, where Bruce is wearing a hockey mask and black clothes. A fight breaks out between him and a pimp which leads to Bruce escaping to a rotting building. Bleeding badly, he doesn't know whether to continue his crusade against crime. A screech fills the area and a bat dives at him, knocking him onto an old chair. Bruce realises his destiny... The opening credits feature Bruce at Wayne Manor, slamming down a hammer on scrap metal, moulding it into shape.

  • Schurken Im Batman-Universum Dieser Artikel Beschäftigt Sich Mit Den Gegenspielern Der ComicFigur „Batman“

FIRST BANK OF GOTHAM - EVENING The imposing, sturdy Art Deco of Gotham's primary banking institution sets the sunset scene, a small crowd gathered around the front steps and a smaller crowd within that surrounding a floodlit PODIUM, set up for a press conference. Microphones, TV news cameras and reporters, and a line of puffed up executive men and women hovering behind the raised stage like peacocks at feeding time. A middle-aged, balding man steps up to the podium, met by a series of CAMERA FLASHES - this is MARCUS HASLAM, and he is the proudest man in Gotham right now. HASLAM Thank you, thank you, ladies and gentlemen for your time here today, on the auspicious occasion of the unveiling of the First Bank of Gotham's all-new security vault. Singled out in the crowd is: BRUCE WAYNE Incognito, peering over shades at the Bank before looking down at his phone screen: Where the front page of the Gotham Broadcasting Company's news blog yells back at him: 'THE CATWOMAN STRIKES AGAIN' It's a story detailing a daring theft the day before, framed around a blurry CCTV image of the thief in question. And which just happens to have been penned by one Vicki Vale. Bruce looks back up at the Bank, a familiar grit in his jaw as he watches, discretely scanning the crowd.

Faith’s Lodge 2011 Annual Report “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to come here and grieve. We had an amazing time. Coming, we were nervous and didn’t know what to expect but it was absolutely delightful.” A note from our board chair: Thank you to our extended family of supporters and friends! Greetings to you as we finish our fourth year of what we believe is invaluable work serving parents and families who are grieving over the loss or the health of their child. Over 116 volunteers helped Faith’s Lodge serve over 220 families in 2011 which results in over 900 families served since opening our doors in 2007. Exit interviews from our guests were overwhelming positive with almost everyone indicating Faith’s Lodge helped bring hope to their lives. 2011 will certainly be remembered as one of our major transitional years for Faith’s Lodge. Long-time executive director Anna Stier left in early 2011; Jackie Lee Stone, our indispensible events contractor, helped the board by adding interim executive director duties to her work. And then at the end of the year, we were most fortunate to secure Curt Peterson, our current and ongoing interim executive director, who is overseeing tremendous building and infrastructure development for our foundation. A highlight of key accomplishments last year includes: • 1st annual Restore the Hope Tree Planting for Faith's Lodge families and supporters following a devastating July 1 storm that ripped through NW Wisconsin. Event helped to restore the hope and the grounds at Faith's Lodge in a more literal way, through the planting o trees throughout the property.

TEASER FADE IN: EXT. GOTHAM CITY - DUSK (D/1) We’re ten stories above the street, perched on the edge of an old office building. A stone GARGOYLE gazes blindly at a majestic mountain range of Gothic stone spires and sleek glass towers under a darkening blue sky, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. SELINA KYLE (14) - an elfin girl dressed in street Goth style, the future CATWOMAN - appears alongside the gargoyle and scans the streets below, a hunter searching for prey. Without any hesitation, she launches herself from the edge of the roof onto a fire escape one floor below and - using drainpipes, window ledges, and light fixtures - descends to street level with amazing nerve and agility. EXT. THEATER DISTRICT STREET. GOTHAM Imagine New York City’s Times Square in the 1970s and then turn the dial to eleven - squalid but sexy, dangerous but glamorous. Colorful GOTHAMITES and gawking TOURISTS watch TWO GANG MEMBERS brawling violently in the middle of the road. One gangster wears crude HOME MADE BODY ARMOR and wields a machete, the other wears a garish ZOOT SUIT and is armed with a hammer. Nobody notices Selina slide from a store awning onto the sidewalk.

The book opens on Batman saving a man from committing suicide. Batman grapples with rebuilding his home and city whilst the Road to No Mans Land Criminals freed during the Earthquake run rampage in the streets. How would we deal with a tragedy such as this? Since Knightfall Batman has had to ponder several times what kind of Legacy he is going to leave behind. It was refreshing, therefore, to see him confide in Tim Drake that should Bruce Wayne get struck down that he wishes the new boy Wonder to carry on as The Dark Knight. Since embarking on my chronological read through of the Batman graphic novelsTim has slowly grown on me. Becoming my favourite Robin during the events of Prodigal. By Lyndsey Erin Shelton Under the mentorship of Dr. Darin H. Van Tassell ABSTRACT It is a widely accepted notion that a child can only be called stupid for so long before they believe it, can only be treated in a particular way for so long before that is the only way that they know. Why is that notion never applied to how we treat, address, and present religion and the religious to children and young adults? In recent years, questions have been continuously brought up about how we portray violence, sexuality, gender, race, and many other issues in popular media directed towards young people, particularly video games.

Örebro universitet Institutionen för humaniora, utbildnings- och samhällsvetenskap Genusvetenskap, kandidatkurs Självständigt arbete, 15hp Vårterminen 2016 Mad Love? Populärkulturella uttryck och verklighetens våld i det populärkulturella paradigmet Batman Emma Rydahl Handledare: Sofia Strid Abstract The purpose of this essay is to study the discourses of violence and constructions of the violent man and how he is made visible as well as possible through the fiction Batman, understood as a popular cultural paradigm, and how this violence can be understood in rela- tion to "real violence" as it is visible/enabled through two perspectives: gender studies and psychology. The two most important characters of the essay are the Joker (the perpetrator) and Harley Quinn (the abused). The material consists of fifteen comics and comic books written with different writers though all comics and comic books are published by DC Comics as a part of Batman. The key theoretical perspectives of this paper is the psycholog- ical or individual perspective and the gender studies or structural perspective. The material was analyzed in two phases. First from a psychological approach and then through a gender studies perspective. A total of six themes emerged from the analysis. Three psychological themes and three gender studies themes. These themes was then analyzed through a dis- course perspective to see which themes that got most space in the material and how these relate to "real violence". The results of the study are that the psychological and gender stud- ies approach constructs two different images of the Joker as a perpetrator. The psychologi- cal perspective is given most space in the material.
