Artist: ADAM FRANKLIN / HANDSOME artist: ADAM FRANKLIN / HANDSOME FURS title: Shine A Light format: 7” / Digital catalogue #: WW011 barcode #: 6 23339 1283 1 5 release date: TBA site: http://whitewhale.ca/label/artist/shinealight We’re very proud to be releasing the Shine A Light 7″ with Handsome Furs (Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade) and Adam Franklin (Swervedriver) covering a track by each others “other” band… Fans were searching for it. What happened to the “Shine A Light” Wolf Parade cover that was supposed to close the highly anticipated Adam Franklin debut Bolts of Melody? Adam had been closing shows with the song on tour and it was in the press releases for the record, but, upon release, it wasn’t there. Did a recorded version exist? Then, there it was, posted on myspace. A lush, intimate version of Shine A Light as only Adam Franklin could do it. But, 2 days later it was removed. “Could you put it back?” “Post the mp3?” One fan went so far as to ask whether Adam was too much of a rock star to take 30 seconds to personally send him the .mp3. A slew of responses erupted on the blog. One note came from long-time Swervedriver fan and White Whale founder, Ryder Havdale. Ryder was friends with Dan Boeckner who’d written Shine a Light, and, sure enough, a light went on…. What if Dan would record a Swervedriver track? A quick call was made and, as it turned out, Dan too was a fan of Swervedriver. “When I was 12, if you told me Adam Franklin would cover one of my songs in the future I would have freaked!” This month marked the return of Swervedriver with a showcase at Coachella and the first official tour in 10 years. Adam is recording his second solo album as Adam Franklin and has just released the debut for his latest project, Magnetic Morning. Dan has just finished recording the sophomore Wolf Parade record and Handsome Furs are currently working on their follow-up record. Dan and Alexei of Handsome Furs are covering a yet to be announced Swervedriver track and the 2 tracks will be available as a limited edition 7” on colored vinyl as well as digitally. Adam Franklin’s cover of Shine A Light is available on iTunes now! The Handsome Furs track will be available once the 7″ is ready. Expect it early summer. TRACK LISTING: 1) Shine A Light 2) TBA. • PRESSEMITTEILUNG 18.10.2019 Wolf Parade Kehren Im März 2020
FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH Große Elbstr. 277 a ∙ 22767 Hamburg Tel.

  • Alternative Cds Dominate 2006'S Best
Alternative CDs dominate 2006’s best Top 10 albums of ‘06 w Jared Delmar w Managing Editor Each year around this time, magazines that cover entertainment news publish lists of the best performances of the preceding year. West Word is no exception; the Around Town section of the paper regularly publishes reviews of films, television programs, video games, restaurants and other media, including music. This year’s top 10 albums include: 1 0 . 45:33 – LCD Soundsystem A treadmill run, “programming inclines and speed throughout,” is what LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy describes is the basis for 45:33, a sprawling and, as the title suggests, 45 minute and 33 second long epic. With no really central melody throughout, and the lyrics appearing in short bursts every 10 minutes or so, 45:33 is a perfect paradigm for 2006’s unconventional tendencies. It was originally designed, so Murphy says, to require very little focus and for the beat not to rival the pace of running. Regardless, it is also easy to to see the appeal even while sitting on a sofa or car seat. 9. Shut Up I Am Dreaming – Sunset Rubdown Beginning modestly, with the lo-fi debut Snake’s Got A Leg, Sunset Rubdown was Spencer Krug, a five-dollar Casio and a four-track recorder. Krug had full creative control over—well—himself, as a solo artist, and this fact remains unchanged as SunsetRubdown adopted three new members for their sophomore album. Krug, having performed vocally with other groups (Frog Eyes, Destroyer and Wolf Parade), brings more to the table than just his voice.
