Last Fling to Host Train Labor Day Weekend

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – April 14, 2009 – The Naperville Jaycees are happy to announce Train will perform at 8p.m. on the Rotary Hill Main Stage at the Last Fling, Sunday, Sept. 6 this Labor Day weekend.

“Train is a great, American band,” said Kevin Piket, Last Fling co-executive director, “and they share a lot of personal experience through their music.”

As for sources of inspiration for the band’s new , For Me, It’s You, “the ‘you’ changes in every song,” said Train vocalist and . “It’s the woman I’m in love with… my children or my dear friend who died this year, it’s my mother, it’s my family, it’s my band.”

The Grammy Award-winning rock band has achieved RIAA platinum status or better on each studio album, generating a string of hit singles, including: “Free,” “,” “I Am,” “,” “Something More,” “She’s On Fire,” “Calling All Angles,” “Ordinary,” “” and “Get To Me.”

Friday, Sept. 4, Lonnie Brooks (6 p.m.) and Robert Cray (8 p.m.) will kick-off the Last Fling with some good-time, uptown, low-down blues, showcasing soulful vocals and instrumental artistry.

“This year we wanted to diversify the musical genre throughout the weekend, in hopes to engage all audiences,” said Matt Liethen, Last Fling co-executive director, “People are looking forward to the variety; we’re confident it’ll be a great show.”

About Last Fling The Last Fling is the Naperville Jaycees' major fundraising event of the year. Each year, they host the city's annual Labor Day festival, a wholesome, family event, with the entire community participating. More than 300,000 patrons visit over the 4-day event, which is held along Naperville's Riverwalk area. Starting Friday afternoon and running through Monday evening, there are special events, carnival rides and attractions, a children's playland, food and beverage vendors, a business expo and concerts on two stages each evening. The Labor Day parade is also part of the festivities. Hotel packages and free shuttle service will also be available.

About Naperville Jaycees The Naperville Jaycees is a nonprofit service organization with over 200 young persons dedicated to personal development through community service.
