We need to discuss our storage situation and make a plan before the quilt show. We will meet in the main lobby of Ford Park at 11AM and adjourn in time for lunch! Laurie Hayes 2017-18 President 2 April 19-21 - Diane Knott: Scrap Quilt Secrets Diane Knott’s trunk show of scrap quilts will include those in her book Scrap Quilt Secrets. Diane’s workshops will be based on the techniques in her book. Friday, April 20 - Relax after the show and focus on sewing curves easily. Choose your own colors and scraps + any of the curved patterns in Scrap Quilt Secrets. Saturday, April 21 - the book’s cover quilt, Crazy Daisy, applique and scraps. ________________________________________________________ May 17 - 19 - Winnie Fleming Trunk show: Star quilts, finishing with Winnie’s favorites...Feathered Stars Friday May 18 class - A simplified technique for making the Feathered Star block has been developed by Winnie Fleming for this GTQG workshop. She will teach the Feathered Star on both days, with variations on Saturday. If you have not responded to my emails or calls to give me the information I need I can't move forward for my part. I need dimensions of the quilt you are bringing, along with whether or not you will be bringing a photo as well (please no bigger than 8x10, and framed would be awesome). I also need to know if you are bringing it the day of setup (April 12) or if I need to meet with you to get it prior to the setup day. Melinda Stanton led the opening prayer. Our presentation will be given today by the Fiber Voices. We had the Golden Needles Quilt Guild from the Conroe area selling raffle tickets for their quilt. Dinner tonight will be at Sweet Basil Noodle House at 5:30. The minutes from the February meeting were printed in the March newsletter. There were no corrections so they stand approved. The February financial report was printed in the March newsletter. There were no corrections so they will be placed on file for audit. Susan reported our speaker for April will be Diane Knott. Her book is required for the workshops and she will have some with her to sell. In May we will host Winnie Fleming. She will present her simple way of making the feathered star. You can sign up on our website. Michelle Walker reported our Quilt Show is only a month away. There is still much work needed to make this a successful show. Still needed is mini quilts for the auction, boutique items, and quilts for sale. See the website to know whom to turn them in to. Volunteers are needed this Saturday at the open sew day to help make more white drapes to be hung at the quilt show. Yard signs are available today. We’re asked to put them out on April 2. See Michelle if you need more. T-shirts are available today for $10. After April 1 they will be $15. See Melinda if you need one. Raffle tickets need to be turned in. Jenni Beaumont reported our media blitz will begin April 1. She has lined up quite an impressive list of avenues to get the information out to the public. She reiterated the best way to spread the word is by our members. The YMBL State Fair will be accepting quilts for their judged show. Contact her ifyou’re interested in participating. Kathy Tade won the BOM. Our guild will need to sew the blocks together before sending them away to be made into a quilt for the Quilts of Valor. There were 73 members present today. 2 visitors and 1 new member. The night meeting had 8 members present with 3 visitors and 1 new member. There were 7 show and tells at the day meeting and 3 at night. Mary Nash reported a new bee has formed in Nederland, the Sweet Honey Bee. Linda Ainsworth asked the members to bring fat quarters each meeting and she would group them together to be used for door prizes.
