Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Sponsored by Pro Ambitions Hockey, this award is voted by the head coaches and is given to the first-year Winners Award player who has shown skill, ability and leadership beyond that expected of a player in his rookie season. Farabee lead all Hockey East rookies in conference scoring, amassing 24 points on seven goals and 17 assists. He paced all first-year players with 0.71 assists per game, 1.00 points per game, 10 power-play assists, 13 power-play points, and one shorthanded goal. Two of his seven tallies proved to be game-winning strikes. His 24 points in league play tied for eighth among all Hockey East players. The Cicero, New York native leads the Terriers in point scoring overall (35) and was second among his teammates in league play (24). Each of the last three times a freshman has lead Boston University in overall scoring, he has taken home Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year hon- ors as Farabee follows in the footsteps of Clayton Keller (2016-17) and Jack Eichel (2014-15.) Farabee, named to the 2018-19 Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team, was honored as a Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week three times on January 14 and 28 and March 18. Then Alex Ovechkin scored twice during a four-goal rally and the Capitals beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-2 to extend their winning streak to nine games and overtake the Dallas Stars for the NHL points lead. "Tonight, you saw some backbone when it was needed," Washington coach Barry Trotz said. "It (was) an opportunity for guys to step up and they did. There wasn't any excuses." The four-goal third period came after the team lost forward Jay Beagle to an upper-body injury and center Nicklas Backstrom to an unspecific injury in the second period. Beagle will undergo surgery and miss significant time. Backstrom's injury was not disclosed and he could play Thursday at the Carolina Hurricanes. Washington already was playing without top defenseman John Carlson, out with a lower-body injury. Despite that, the Capitals turned around Buffalo's 2-1 lead quickly. "We are pretty relentless as a team," Washington goalie Braden Holtby said. "(Obviously, the injuries) makes it tougher. Those guys play a huge role on our team but we are just going to have to find different ways to win if they are out. Alongside his classmates in conference play, Hutsko was tops in assists (16), points (24), assists per game (0.67), points per game (1.00), game-winning goals (2), and plus-minus rating (+14). His five power-play assists were tied for third-most among league rookies. The Tampa, Florida native lead the Eagles in point scoring, both overall (31) and in league play (24), becoming just the second rookie to lead Boston College in overall point scoring since at least 1999-2000. The award was given out at Matthews Arena in Boston in conjunction with the Frozen Four weekend. He is the second consecutive Hobey winner from Hockey East, as Boston College’s Johnny Gaudreau claimed the prize in 2014. Eichel becomes the first freshman winner of the Hobey Baker since Maine’sPaul Kariya won the award in 1993 after scoring 100 points (25g, 75a) in his rookie campaign for the Black Bears. Eichel’s 70 points this year (26g, 44a) is the highest total for an NCAA rookie since Kariya.     DOBBER’S 2010-11 FANTASY GUIDE DOBBERHOCKEY.COM – HOME OF THE TOP 300 FANTASY PLAYERS I think we’re at the point in the fantasy hockey universe where DobberHockey.com is either known in a fantasy league, or the GM’s are sleeping. Besides my column in The Hockey News’ Ultimate Pool Guide, and my contributions to this year’s Score Forecaster (fifth year doing each), I put an ad in McKeen’s. That covers the big three hockey pool magazines and you should have at least one of them as part of your draft prep. The other thing you need, of course, is this Guide right here. It is not only updated throughout the summer, but I also make sure that the features/tidbits found in here are unique. I know what’s in the print mags and I have always tried to set this Guide apart from them. Once again, this is an automatic download – just pick it up in your downloads section. Look for one or two updates in August, then one or two updates between September 1st and 14th. After that, when training camp is in full swing, I will be updating every two or three days right into October. Make sure you download the latest prior to heading into your draft (and don’t ask me on one day if I’ll be updating the next day – I get so many of those that I am unable to answer them all, just download as late as you can).
