Bergenseren er aktuell som en av førerne i mesterskapet, som starter med et løp i Saudi-Arabia i slutten av mars. Extreme E er et nytt bilsportmesterskap hvor det skal kjøres med elektriske biler på steder hvor klimaendringer har gjort seg gjeldende for å skape oppmerksomhet rundt global oppvarming, og vise at elektrisk mobilitet kan være en del av løsningen for planeten. Løpene vil ha etapper som minner litt om Dakar Rally, og en kvinnelig og en mannlig deltaker skal dele på hver bil. En rekke velkjente team fra internasjonal motorsport er klare som X44, eid av Formel 1-verdensmester Lewis Hamilton, Andretti Autosport, Abt Sportsline og Chip Ganassi Racing. Flere førere er allerede klare som svenskene Mattias Ekström og Timmy Hansen, amerikanerne Kyle Leduc og Sara Price, og Katie Munnings fra Storbritannia. En annen som er aktuell er den norske rallycrossføreren Andreas Bakkerud.
