For Humanitarian Purposes Only - City Production date: 26 April 2017 Building Damage Density and Residential Areas (2015)

ANALYSIS NOTE

This map illustrates density of building damage in the city of Aden, , Yemen, based on the remote damage analysis conducted by UNITAR- UNOSAT using satellite imagery acquired 21 August 2015, 10 May 2015, and 31 December 2014.

The damage density was calculated by REACH based on damage to all structures identified as buildings (561), excluding temporary structures, roads, impact craters, etc. All damaged structures detected outside of residential areas have been identified as nonresidential. At the same time, the damage indicated within residential areas does not indicate damage to only residential buildings (such as houses, apartments) as it also includes damage to buildings used for non-residential purposes.

This map was produced in cooperation with the Shelter Cluster and aims to provide a basic overview for humanitarian actors on damage in residential areas of Aden as of August 2015.
