After recording one of their most successful seasons ever in 2009, the Lions will look to continue their winning ways in their 2010 home opener against Ursinus College. Last season marked a new era for Albright Football tallying a program first 11 victories. Best Finish in NCAA Tournament: Quarterfinal Round (09, 96, 76, 75) The Lions have welcomed in over 50 newcomers to this year’s roster, and with a Most Wins in Program History: 11 (09) solid core of veterans, this year’s team will truly showcase a new style of Albright football. As in years prior, the Lions defense will once again be a force to be reck- 2010 TEAM CAPTAINS oned with, while on the offense fans will see a new quarterback taking the snaps this season.

ALBRIGHT IN DIVISION III Last season, the Lions were ranked on both the AFCA and D3Football.com Top-25 Coaches Polls for the first time in program history. On the AFCA coaches poll, the Lions ended the season ranked 9th in the country, while on the D3Football.com the Lions were ranked 15th in the country for the first time in program history. On the 2010 D3Football.com Preseason Poll, the Lions are ranked 29th in Division III. #9 Bergery #30 McAdams #76 Schannauer KELLY ON THE SIDELINES 2010 albright roster breakdown After having one of the most prolific careers in program history, former quarterback BY STATE BY CLASS SIZE Tanner Kelly has joined Head Coach John Marzka’s staff for the 2010 season. - 60 Seniors - 16 Kelly will work primarily with the quarterbacks as well as being in charge of the - 55 Juniors - 35 offensive quality control. The ECAC Division III Player of the Year, Kelly ended Maryland - 23 Sophomores - 31 his senior season as one of the top passers in the country, and was named MAC Delaware - 4 Freshmen - 69 Offensive Player of the Year, ECAC Southeast Player of the Year, and D3Football. New York - 3 Virginia - 3 com East Region Offensive Player of the Year. Washington D.C. - 1 PAC-MAC CHALLENGE For the first time ever members of the MAC and the PAC will meet in rivalry Starters Returning Starters Lost games. This season, the Lions will travel Geneva College, while the rest of the Offense - 6 Offense - 4 Middle Atlantic Conference will host to their PAC opponents in what should turn Defense - 4 Defense - 7 out to be a great test for the entire conference as a whole. WELCOME TO THE CLUB It was recently announced that Stevenson University will be joining the Middle At- lantic Conference in football. With the addition of the Mustang’s to the conference, ALBRIGHT ON THE RADIO the Lions will now have eight conference games and only two non-conference Starting this fall Albright’s own radio station WXAC 91.3 FM will be games in 2011. Last fall, Bergery posted 39.5 tackles, while Mancinelli added 36 of his own. Bergery also tallied two interceptions, both of which came against Widener. Mancinelli totaled 3.5 tackles for a loss, and was credited with one sack as well. Marzka also served as Academic Coordinator during his time with the Tomcats. He created and implemented an academic support program that helped the Tomcat football team achieve a team GPA higher than the all-male student average for his last 4 consecutive semesters. For the fall 2006 semester, a record 39 players attained a 3.0 or higher GPA, 13 were named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, and six players attained a perfect 4.0 GPA. For his efforts in academic excellence, Marzka received Thiel’s “2006 Distinguished Innovator Award”. In his capacity as the Tomcat’s Recruit- ing Coordinator, Marzka designed and led the execution of a recruiting model that built the foundation of players for the 2005 PAC Championship and 2nd round trip to the NCAA Playoffs.
