Use of any photograph outside of this document or the presentation of this document is prohibited unless permitted in writing. 4 CHAPTER 1 – INTRODUCTION Introduction: Fire Management Overview and Direction This Fire Management Plan (FMP) will provide direct guidance and authorities so fire management specific activities can occur and be compliant with the 2001 Federal Fire Policy, Department of Interior Manual, and Indian Affairs Manual. It will provide the margins for fire operations to meet natural resource and social objectives stated in the Flathead Indian Reservation Forest Management Plan (FIRFMP). As a result of the FIRFMP, this plan has been cleared through the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) requirements, and has received direction from the Tribal membership through resource objectives development based on an interdisciplinary teams efforts, public meetings, written comments, and direction from an ad hoc oversight committee of tribal members. Wildland fire and prescribed fire use have both been identified and approved through these processes as an integral part of managing forest and rangelands on this Reservation. Through the collaborative efforts of developing the FIRFMP, changes to fire dependent ecosystems were identified because of 90 years of fire suppression, silvicultural treatments, domestic livestock grazing, and building construction. The historical occurrence of fire and planned use of fire has been incorporated into Tribal management philosophy for the next 30 years to reach desired conditions that will be more consistent with forest conditions prior to European contact. As this FMP is implemented, program coordination will be required with Tribal Departments, Tribal public, and neighboring agencies. These opportunities will open this plan for further development as time exposes new prospects for improvement. “Because of the ladder fuels (fuels that reach from the forest floor into the canopy), fires in this zone now burn as partial stand- replacement or stand-replacement fires.” Flathead Indian Reservation Forest Management Plan – 2000 Recommendations were made on the following topics: • Improve Fire Prevention and Suppression Reduce Hazardous Fuels Restore Fire-adapted Ecosystems Promote Community Stability and Collaboration Challenges Western Governors Association, Press Release – Diverse interests offer recommendations to Western Governors for improving forest health, June 19, 2003. Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters.     AN ANALYSIS OF WILDFIRE IMPACTS ON CLIMATE CHANGE By: Taylor Gilson Mentor: Dr. Elaine Fagner 1 Abstract Abstract: The western United States (U.S.). has recently seen an increase in wildfires that destroyed communities and lives. This researcher seeks to examine the impact of wildfires on climate change by examining recent studies on air quality and air emissions produced by wildfires, and their impact on climate change. Wildfires cause temporary large increases in outdoor airborne particles, such as particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5) and particulate matter 10(PM 10). Large wildfires can increase air pollution over thousands of square kilometers (Berkley University, 2021). The researcher will be conducting this research by analyzing PM found in the atmosphere, as well as analyzing air quality reports in the Southwestern portion of the U.S. The focus of this study is to examine the air emissions after wildfires have occurred in Yosemite National Park; and the research analysis will help provide the scientific community with additional data to understand the severity of wildfires and their impacts on climate change. Project Overview and Hypothesis This study examines the air quality from prior wildfires in Yosemite National Park. This research effort will help provide additional data for the scientific community and local, state, and federal agencies to better mitigate harmful levels of PM in the atmosphere caused by forest fires. The researcher hypothesizes that elevated PM levels in the Yosemite National Park region correlate with wildfires that are caused by natural sources such as lightning strikes and droughts. Introduction The researcher will seek to prove the linkage between wildfires and PM.

The scientific basis for ecological restoration and fuel treatment activities is growing, but remains largely unsubstantiated, with isolated exceptions. ABSTRACT The modern television viewer enjoys an unprecedented amount of choice and control -- a direct result of widespread availability of new technology and services. Cultivated in this new television landscape is the phenomenon of binge watching, a popular conversation piece in the current zeitgeist yet a greatly under- researched topic academically. This exploratory research study was able to make significant strides in understanding binge watching by examining its effect on the viewer - more specifically, how it affects their reception towards a television show. Utilizing a uses and gratifications perspective, this study conducted an experiment on 212 university students who were assigned to watch one of two drama series, and designated a viewing condition, binge watching or appointment viewing. Data gathered using preliminary and post questionnaires, as well as short episodic diary surveys, measured reception factors such as opinion, enjoyment and satisfaction. This study found that the effect of binge watching on viewer reception is contingent on the show.
