MANDATE Founded in 1979 with the purpose to raise and grant funds for the advancement of golf in Canada. Mackenzie Hughes signing autographs at RBC Canadian Open Pro-Am 4 Golf Canada Foundation 2019 Annual Report Rory McIlroy 2019 RBC Canadian Open Champion CALGARY GOLF FESTIVAL July 4, 2019 Cottonwood Golf Club With funds raised through Golf Canada Foundation’s 2018 Trustee Cup, Alberta Golf piloted the Calgary Golf Festival presented by Shaw Communications at Cottonwood Golf Club to introduce newcomers to the game in an inclusive, barrier-free event. Families were invited to rent a hole for $20.00 for two-hour timeslots and play the hole as many times with no pressure from other groups. Other activities included a kid’s area, entertainment, and BBQ lunch. Though weather proved a challenge, the event was a success with 35 families renting 44 holes for the day. Alberta Golf and Shaw plan to expand the event to five urban markets in 2020. 5 Alena Sharp & Guest, CP Women’s Open Pro-Am CP WOMEN’S OPEN ALL-STAR CANADA DAY PRO-AM August 19, 2019 Magna Golf Club The All-Star Canada Day Pro-Am kicked off the CP Women’s Open at the immaculate Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ontario. Participants were treated to an all-star clinic on the range during warm-up that featured Cheyenne Woods, Brittany Lang, Alena Sharp and several other top players on the LPGA Tour. Following the clinic, participants played a round at the pristine Magna layout with Canadian players and capped the day with cocktails on the terrace overlooking the 18th green. Facility, In-School and Outreach are the three pillars of this program that saw 137,243 new kids participating in junior programming and a total of 1.8 million junior participants in our flagship programs since inception in 1996.
