The teams intending to compete/participate in the National Finals must be able to be at Pebble Beach, California in January 2017 (actual dates to be announced soon). How your participation helps The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients and their families, and tens of millions of Americans at risk. In the Delaware Valley there are currently 40,687 patients on dialysis and 13,341 people on the waiting list for a kidney. Your support will impact the lives of those in our own community who are at risk or currently living with kidney disease, and those who care for them. Zurich Classic of New Orleans Record Book (est. 2017, thru 2019) *2017 & 2018 Format Information: An historic change was made to the format of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2017, making the event a two-player team event featuring Foursomes (alternate shot) during the first and third rounds and Four-ball (best ball) during the second and fourth rounds. A change was made at the 2018 Zurich Classic of New Orleans , with the two formats switching rotations. Rounds one and three in the two-player team event featured the Four-ball (best ball) format, while the second and fourth rounds used the Foursomes (alternate shot) format. Since the formation of the PGA TOUR (1968), the Zurich Classic became the first official event to utilize Foursomes as part of a team competition. The 2017 Zurich Classic was the first official PGA TOUR team event in 36 years. Before that, the last official PGA TOUR team event was the 1981 Walt Disney World National Team Championship held at the Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista courses at Disney. Vance Heafner and Mike Holland won that title. The tournament became an individual stroke-play event in 1982. The Zurich Classic awards FedExCup points and official money and counts as an official victory for the members of the winning team. • Foursomes Matchplay
FOURSOMES MATCHPLAY Format, Scoring, Handicap Allowance Team competition with just two teams competing against each other, played under matchplay rules, scored as in matchplay. The team with the higher sum of their playing handicaps (the aggregate) receives a handicap allowance equal to 50% of the difference between the aggregate playing handicap of each side, rounded to the nearest integer (≥0.5 is rounded up, <0.5 is rounded down). The team with the lower aggregate playing handicap plays off scratch. Course Adjustment If one or both of the teams is “mixed”, all players play off the men’s tee’s stroke indexes, consequently there is course adjustment. If both teams are of the same gender, all players play off their own tee’s stroke indexes and as such there is no course adjustment. Any adjustment is made prior to subtracting the lowest playing handicap. Please note that the PAR of a hole has no bearing in matchplay, it is completely ignored and the net score on a hole is the only thing that determines the result. Description Each of the two teams comprise two players. The two teams: Team X and Team Y, each team each consist of two players, Player A and Player B; Prior to playing, each team decides separately which player on their team will tee off on the odd-numbered holes. The other player will then tee off on the even-numbered holes. If Player A tees off, then Player B must play the next shot with that ball (and vice versa) and the team players alternate in this way until the ball is holed, or until it is picked up because the team cannot better or equal the opposing team's score on a hole.

GOLF FORMATS EXPLAINED Alternate Shots Best Ball Better Ball Four Ball Better-Ball (4BBB) Foursomes Greensomes Matchplay Skins Stableford Stroke Play / Medal Scramble Texas Scramble To return to this page “click” on this link anywhere in the document [Just press control on your key board and “click” on the link] MARCH 10, 2016 HINCKLEY GOLF CLUB Competitions and Handicap sub-committee Golf Formats What format are you going to play today? Alternate Shots - Alternate Shot, also called Foursomes, is a competition format in which 2-person teams alternate hitting the same ball. The first player tees off, the second player hits the second shot, the first player hits the third shot, and so on until the ball is holed. Playing from the tee is also alternated so that the same player doesn't hit every drive. Alternate Shot can be played as stroke play or match play. Best Ball - Along with the scramble, "best ball" is one of the most popular golf tournament formats. Best ball can be played by using 2, 3 or 4 person teams. Each player on the team plays his or her own golf ball throughout the round, and on each hole the low score or "Best Ball" of the group serves as the team score. For example, player A gets a 5, B gets a 4, C gets a 6, D gets a 6, then the team score for that hole is 4, because the low score of the group was B's 4. Best ball is usually played as stroke play with the total score added up at the end of the round.
