Over the past 16 years, the ŚŝůĚƌĞŶ͛ƐŚĂƌŝƚŝĞƐ&ŽƵŶĚĂƚŝŽŶ(CCF) has been able to distribute more than $8.2 million dollars in grants to organizations that serve children in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. All of us associated with the BB&T Classic and CCF feel privileged to be able to have an impact on our community during these difficult economic times. There are countless families dealing with unemployment, poverty, inadequate medical care, and homelessness. Many nonprofits are struggling to stay afloat. The money that we raise can make the difference in keeping an essential program alive. It is in these areas that we want to focus our efforts. In January 2009, CCF began a new program ʹ Coats for Kids. Each year, new winter coats, purchased through a special arrangement with our regional partner, Lord and Taylor, are distributed to needy children throughout the Washington, D.C. metro region. In 2009, on the Martin Luther King holiday, volunteers gathered at the Verizon Center to help distribute 500 new winter coats to children. In 2011 we distributed more than 1,300 coats and look forward to distributing at least 1,200 coats in January 2012. We have three wonderful events to advance our cause ʹ the BB&T Basketball Classic, the ͞ĂƐŬĞƚ>>͟'ĂůĂ͕ĂŶĚŽƵƌĂŶŶƵĂůŐŽůĨ tournament. The BB&T Classic has become a unique tradition to Washington, D.C. More than 30 visiting teams and four National Champions have come to play in this annual event. The University of Maryland Terrapins and the George Washington University Colonials have served as the host teams every year. We are most grateful to these two Universities for their continued dedication to their home communities. Finally, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to express our deep appreciation to BB&T. The generosity of all who work there and their spirit of giving is a wonderful example for all of corporate America. dŚĂŶŬƐƚŽĂůůŽĨLJŽƵĨŽƌLJŽƵƌƐƵƉƉŽƌƚ͘,ĂǀĞĂŐƌĞĂƚƚŝŵĞ͕ĂŶĚůĞƚ͛ƐŬĞĞƉǁŽƌŬŝŶŐƚŽŐĞƚŚĞƌĨŽƌŽƵƌĐŚŝůĚƌĞŶ͘ Best wishes, Peter Teeley Chairman of the Board Our thanks to our official corporate partners: BB&T Marriott Wardman Park The Baltimore Sun MASN GEICO SMUCKER’s The Greene Turtle The Washington Examiner Our thanks also to the following: ABBA The Concert Mindy Pipes Amerisource Bergen Premium Distributors Amgen, Inc.
