    IIT BHILAI : IN PRESS 2016-2019 Foreword Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) became the 23rd IIT in the country and was established in the state of Chhattisgarh in 2016. Currently functioning out of a transit campus in Raipur, the permanent campus is proposed to be constructed on a 432 acre stretch of land in Kutelabhatha and Sirsa Khurd villages in the Durg district. The institute was established under the mentorship of IIT Hyderabad till the beginning of the tenure of its founding Director, Prof. Rajat Moona, in March 2017. In the three years of its existence the institute has expanded to include six departments – Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Liberal Arts. IIT Bhilai has grown significantly in terms of its academic and research profile, and this can be charted through press coverage in various local and national dailies of repute. The primary purpose of this booklet is to capture this growth. It will also serve as a repository of events that have proved significant in the shaping of the institute, for future reference. The booklet is to be released on the institute's Foundation Day, August 7, 2019, by chief guest Mr. K.K. Singh, ED (P&A), Bhilai Steel Plant and Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IIT Bhilai.
