    President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. It is such an honor to hold this position. I’m really looking forward to the 2016 BBIA Convention site that Corey Dykstra has selected for us — the historic Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, which dates back to 1778. We had our board meeting there in October, and it is truly an unbelievable place — great restaurants, a casino, and the historic “Bunker,” once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility during the Cold War. The resort also plays host to one of the most exciting PGA tournaments of the year, and we look forward to playing on one of the five championship golf courses there. Over the past six years, it has been a pleasure to serve on the board and work with so many talented people. The Industry Catalog is one thing that we should be particularly proud of, and I’m proud to have played a small part in bringing such a great product to the marketplace. The current board has been very helpful in continually finding ways to make improvements. I’d like to personally thank our board members, as well as the best Executive Director, Bill Supper, who does more behind the scenes that contributes to our success than you’ll ever know.

    David Meyers Associates, Ltd June 2012 Congressional Country Club Club Information The Congressional Country Club, ranked the #1 private, member-owned club in America, is a full service country club and golf course in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Congressional opened in 1924 and was founded by former Presidents of the United States, Coolidge, Taft, Hoover, Wilson and Harding. On May 23, 1924, its doors opened to more than 7,000 persons of national and local prominence invited to the Gala Opening. The Club’s original purpose has been transformed to that of a family club with excellent facilities for golf, tennis and swimming, bowling and dining. Being one of the few clubs in the Washington area with an indoor swimming pool, Congressional now stands as one of the premiere clubs in the world. In the summer of 1977 the Club completed nine additional holes to meet the demand of its golfing members, thus providing two challenging 18-hole golf courses. Over the years, the Club and its members, as a tribute to the game of golf, which has rendered so much enjoyment to the membership, graciously offered its facilities to several major golfing events. In 1959, the USGA Women’s Amateur was hosted. Other prestigious tournaments followed with the U.S. Opens of 1964, 1997 and 2011, 1976 PGA National Championship, PGA Tour Kemper Open from 1980 to 1986, 1995 U.S. Senior Open, 2005 Booz Allen Classic and AT&T National Hosted by Tiger Woods from 2007-2009 which will again be hosted again in 2012. Congressional Country Club is currently home to approximately 1,100 Resident Active Members and welcomes over 45,000 members and guests to play on the two golf courses each year.
