Greenbrier Resort Sulphur Springs, West Virginia April 10 – 12, 2016 Where Swank and Bowling Unite Jeff Mraz Bbia President The 74th BBIA Convention GREENBRIER RESORT Sulphur Springs, West Virginia AprIl 10 – 12, 2016 WHERE SWANK AND BOWLING UNITE Jeff Mraz BBIA President Dear BBIA Members, I would like to start by thanking you all for giving me the opportunity to serve as President of the Billiard and Bowling Institute of America. It is such an honor to hold this position. I’m really looking forward to the 2016 BBIA Convention site that Corey Dykstra has selected for us — the historic Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, which dates back to 1778. We had our board meeting there in October, and it is truly an unbelievable place — great restaurants, a casino, and the historic “Bunker,” once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility during the Cold War. The resort also plays host to one of the most exciting PGA tournaments of the year, and we look forward to playing on one of the five championship golf courses there. Over the past six years, it has been a pleasure to serve on the board and work with so many talented people. The Industry Catalog is one thing that we should be particularly proud of, and I’m proud to have played a small part in bringing such a great product to the marketplace. The current board has been very helpful in continually finding ways to make improvements. I’d like to personally thank our board members, as well as the best Executive Director, Bill Supper, who does more behind the scenes that contributes to our success than you’ll ever know. We have some great things planned for the 2016 BBIA Convention, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Greenbrier! Jeff Mraz BBIA President WWW.BILLIARDANDBOWLING.ORG Corey Dykstra BBIA Convention Chairman Dear BBIA Members, I hope you are all still excited to go somewhere new and unique! As we discussed at the 2015 convention, The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia is certainly that. The resort is a combination of heritage and luxury (which I will admit can be a little overwhelming at first) and yet includes a variety of options for entertainment and relaxation. The Greenbrier has a collection of five different courses including The Old White TPC which is the home of The Greenbrier Classic, a PGA Tour stop. There is also some nice golf history amongst the clubhouse and other areas on the property – mostly related to legendary Sam Snead. Even if you are not a golfer (take it from me), I would encourage you to enter the scramble. Our golf chair does an outstanding job of making it enjoyable for all and it is a great chance to see some of the 10,000 acre property and spend some time with colleagues and friends! The property includes a spa, shopping area, over 100,000 square foot casino, list of activities that is too long to list and, of course, the famous bunker. Check out the website (www.greenbrier.com) as I am convinced there is something for everyone – just get past the fact that it is a little swankier than the average bowling party venue! On that note, gentlemen should pack a jacket as it is required in a few of the restaurants and the casino after 7:00 pm. If you are flying in and renting a car, I would recommend you fly into Roanoke, VA (ROA.) The scenic drive is approximately an hour to the resort or if you prefer not to rent, The Greenbrier offers a shuttle for $60. Parking on property is $25.00 per night. I look forward to seeing everyone this coming April 10-12th. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at 616-304-0101. See you there! #PGATOUR! INTRODUCTION Bryan Ahearn couldn’t believe his good luck. His employer, ParFour Marketing, has relied on him to de- liver insightful and successful marketing strategies for key clients as the “Voice of the Millennial.” As the largest living generation, many brands and media companies knew that millennials, and the following generation, Gen Z, were critical to their success in the future. Now, Bryan was given an assignment to develop a media and marketing plan for the PGA TOUR for the upcoming season that would engage Mil- lennials with the organization’s social media, viewership, and events. Bryan had been a golfer since high school, and played on his college team. His vacations and business trips often included finding a new golf course wherever he traveled. However, he knew mere enthusi- asm for the sport would not satisfy the PGA TOUR. He knew that success for this client would center on delivering results on five key performance indicators (KPI’s): o Increase attendance of 18-34-year-old fans on-site (at tournaments) ▪ The amount of time spent on-site ▪ The amount of money spent on-site o Convert casual fans who watch majors and other sports into PGA TOUR tournament at- tendees o Provide excitement for fans looking for social and memorable experiences o Increase the number of Millennials who watch PGA TOUR events on various social media platforms o Increase the number of Millennial followers on PGA TOUR social media PGA TOUR Bryan first reviewed the scope of his client. He learned that the PGA TOUR is headquartered in Ponte Vedra, FL, USA, and is the main organizer of the professional golf tournaments played primarily by male golfers in the United States and North America.

President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. As always, if you want to reach me to discuss anything, please send me an email at roger.laime@aecom or call me on my cell phone at 518-772-7754. Please be considerate of others, be safe and think warm weather. Roger Laime Treasurer’s Report June 15th, 2020 I want all of our members to be aware, especially our newer members that you will see a bunker renovation fee on your July invoice. This is our final year of our 5 year bunker renovation project as Steve and his staff have recently completed #13. The fee will be 3% of dues for your membership category.
