four World Golf Championships events. World Golf Championships, of and unto itself, is always plural. At second and all subsequent references, the tournament may be called the Dell Technologies Match Play. The Dell Technologies Match Play is the second World Golf Championships event of the 2020-21 PGA TOUR Season as preceded by the Workday Championship at The Concession (Florida, USA). The other WGCs include the FedEx St. Jude Invitational (Tennessee, USA) and the HSBC Champions (Shanghai, China). PGATOUR.COM 2021 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play Media Guide / 1 Format Overview and Glossary The World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play returns for the fifth time to Austin, Texas, and Austin Country Club in 2021 after being cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As with the first four years, the field will be divided into 16 four-player groups. Each group will play round-robin matches within their group on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The player with the best record in each of the four-player groups advances to the Round of 16 for single-elimination match play. The Round of 16 will be played Saturday morning, followed by the Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. The Semifinals will be Sunday morning, followed by the Championship Match and Consolation Match on Sunday afternoon. • 64 players, grouped into 16 groups of four players each for rounds 1, 2 and 3, held Wednesday to Friday. Groups will be determined Monday morning by the Advance Rules Official and then revealed during a live show on PGA TOUR Digital Platforms including PGA TOUR Live on Monday, March 22 from 10:30-11:00 a.m. CT. • During group play, players play 18-hole matches against each of the other players in their group. Matches are played to either a conclusion or a halve. Matches all square after 18 holes are not extended. Points awarded to players based on results of each match as follows: Winner - 1 point Loser - 0 points Tied - 1/2 point per player • In the event two or more players in a group are equal with the highest point totals, a stroke-play hole-by-hole playoff will determine the player that advances to the 16-player, single-elimination matches. • The purse distribution for the event will be similar to past years, but payments for the players who do not advance beyond pool play will be based on the player’s record within the pool play round. This year, the 32-year-old will return to the scene of that success, as he bids to claim a second title. The three- time Ryder Cup winner will be joined at the BMW International Open (21st to 25th June) by the remaining six German pros playing their golf on the European Tour this season. “I am already looking forward to the BMW International Open in Munich,” said Kaymer. “It is particularly nice for me to play in front of the home fans in my native Germany. Furthermore, the victory at the 2008 BMW International Open will always remain a very special title for me – that is why I am always so pleased to return to this fantastic tournament.” Kaymer defeated Denmark’s Anders Hansen in a play-off in 2008, following a real rollercoaster ride of a final round.
