Their season was highlighted by a truly team effort with every player contributing in significant ways throughout the season. After 9 years of junior cricket, for all but two players (including the coach), the greatest team reward was achieved on their final day of junior cricket – a first and final junior Premiership! Congratulations U16 Glenmore Park Redbacks!! 2 018/19 District Yearbook 4 COMMITTEE PRESIDENT Grant Kean VICE PRESIDENT Craig Batty SECRETARY Rebecca Nicholls TREASURER John Jennings REGISTRAR Rebecca Nicholls COMPETITION SECRETARY Craig Batty REPRESENTATIVE COORDINATOR Rick Lennox GIRLS COORDINATOR David Williams UMPIRES COORDINATOR Michael Drum REPRESENTATIVE DEVELOPMENT Grant Kean OFFICER 2 018/19 District Yearbook 5 PRESIDENT’S REPORT Season 2018/19 was again another year of change and transition as Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW continue to strive for the formula to ensure cricket remains a leading sport in our community. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to the tireless efforts of our Executive volunteers who dedicate countless hours to ensure we have a local cricket competition in Penrith that is largely a great experience for our participants. These people include Craig Batty our Vice President and Competition Secretary, Rebecca N icholls our Secretary, John Jennings the Treasurer and Rick Lennox our Representative Program Coordinator. For most your efforts go unnoticed and unrecognised but for me it is your work that means we have a local cricket and representative program for all our boys and girls. On behalf of our cricketing community I thank you sincerely. On the field this season has provided some great success stories again. Although declining we still had 58 teams take the field from nine different clubs across U10s to U16s. Seven out of our nine clubs participated in finals cricket, with six clubs winning at least one premiership title. There were 456 games of junior cricket. 93,052 runs scored, 5,721 wicket taken, 12 centuries and 21 five wicket hauls. On the Representative front we had some great success once again this season but none more significant than the U16s Watson Shield team coached by Peter Tracey and Brendan Vella bringing home the trophy, the first one in 9 years. Congratulations to all involved. We also had some other notable performance from the U15s DCA making the Semi Finals which is a fantastic achievement and our U10s PC team finishing on top of the table in their development competition. For the DCA boys and girls competitions we won 53% of our games up from 29% the prior season which is almost double the wins, an outstanding outcome, while the PC’s did extremely well winning 40% of their games which was exactly in line with last season. Off the field there was also a significant amount of progression and change. In June 2018 prior to season commencement at the AGM a new Constitution was endorsed by all clubs, a largely new and first time Executive was elected by you the members and our clubs, which meant we could continue to pave the way for the future of Penrith Junior cricket at that we have done more so than ever in a time of change by Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW. With this I ask that you remain positive and open to change as we continue to look to ensure Cricket remains one of Australia’s no.1 sports. Over the past 12 months we have seen some notable advancements and achievements for our Association. Some of these include: further implementation of Cricket Australia’s new formats, centralised junior blasters programs, continued promotion of our Girls only Thunder League, more regular and collaborative communication with Cricket NSW and NSWDCA leading to more aligned strategies and objectives with our governing bodies for both local and representative cricket, the formation of the Penrith Cricket Council involving Cricket NSW/PJCA/NDCA/Penrith Grade Club. Presentations with the Cricket NSW Talent Identification and Academy Representatives to ensure our selection criteria align with their pathway programs, this ultimately lead to the PJCA being invited to attend NSW Academy trials as observers thus provider insights never available before, which hopefully will only create greater opportunities for our players within the talent identification processes into the future. It was also very pleasing to see that our new selection criteria implemented before last rep trials already very much aligns to that of these elite pathway programs. 2 018/19 District Yearbook 6 We have continued to advance our relationship with the Penrith Grade Club via greater access to their resources which were highlighted this year by more than ever before, with grade players offering their volunteer time as coaches and assistant coaches in our program. If you have seen the appointments for this season’s teams you will see we have again made some exciting announcements here with four of our premiership winning 1st grade team committing to the PJCA rep system. Discussions continue on a regular basis with Penrith Council in order to foster and advocate future cricket needs in the region with a focus on better facilities, ground maintenance and hopefully access to turf wickets for our local competition. This season has seen upgrade nets at Jamison Park with new nets going up as we speak at Ched Towns and Knapsack. We have opened the door with face to face meetings with our state and federal members of parliament to assist with achieving positive outcomes in achieving some key objectives with Council and Cricket NSW this includes the Minister for Sport. Overall, I think it is fair to say the picture for Penrith Junior Cricket is positive and exciting and I trust we can all band together to build for the years ahead. First of all I would like to start by thanking our manager Cate. Her efforts were amazing, guaranteeing our team was always well organised and maintaining a wonderful positive culture within our team. Thanks to both the GBCC & PJCA committees for giving all their time in organizing such a great competition. It was such an entertaining season with the competition being very close. On behalf of all the players, I would like to thank our trainers, James and Rob who have encouraged and provided an environment that the boys have thrived in. Thank you to our scorers - Val, Dom, Cate and Rob - for all their skill, time and efforts. 2 018/19 District Yearbook 9 Thank you to all of the parents who have shared in our “competitive” morning tea roster and giving our boys enough energy every week at the games. Finally, to all the parents, families and friends who support the players. Thank you for your attendance at games and training and congratulations on a fulfilling season. I look forward to seeing you all back for the 2019/20 season. Gregory Walker Coach 2 018/19 District Yearbook 10 UNDER 11 – N RANCE TROPHY EMU PLAINS We started the season with 10 players in our team. A mixture of 6 kids returning from last year with 4 new players to our team, most of them playing their first season of weekend cricket. We also had a mixture of ages ranging from 9 to 11. Having 10 players and only being able to bat and bowl 8 each week created some challenges but we settled on a system where our 2 subs would keep wicket each week. The kids were fantastic despite occasionally not getting to bat and bowl there were never any complaints and everyone showed great team spirit and gave their all no matter which part they had to play that week. We started the season with some up and down performances. When we were good we were great, but we let ourselves down in a few games early in the season with some sloppy fielding and some crazy running between the wickets. This saw us lose 3 of our first 6 games. By the mid-point of the season the team had begun to show some real improvement with their skills.

Type the abstract of the document here. The abstract is typically a short summary of the contents of the document.] Edinburgh Cricket Club Junior Season Report 2015-2016 In the past 12 months Edinburgh Cricket Club has grown to become the second largest cricket club in Victoria. This has come about in part due to A LOOK a demographic surge in area but also, we like to think, because the Burra BACK AT is a great place for players of all ages to enjoy cricket. The number of junior SEASON teams has doubled in the past 3 years from 8 teams in season 2012-13 to 16 2015-2016 teams in 2015-16. The most exciting development this season has been the advent of our under 15 girls’ team. Women’s cricket at the Burra has been up and running for over a decade now with the woman this year taking out the WCCC North West Premiership. This season our number one priority was getting a girls’ team up and running. Slowly over the preseason numbers gathered and we just had enough players for the start of the ECA Anna Lanning Spirit competition, which runs on a Wednesday evening. Despite their ages ranging from 8 to 13, the girls quickly bonded into a team and before long were playing some great cricket. Word spread and numbers grew over the season so that next season we hope to have 2 teams.

  • Season 2011-12
JUNIORS SEASON 2011-12 A LOOK BACK AT SEASON 2011-2012 From my personal viewpoint the season 2011-12 is memorable for off-field difficulties arising from HDCA and leading to the frequently asked questions from junior coaches, managers, parents and players within the Club and from several fellow junior co-ordinators “ What are HDCA up to by combining Green and Gold divisions in U13s and U15s? Are there going to be Green finals and Gold finals?. Why are teams nominated by clubs as Gold teams playing in Green finals and vice versa.’’ It is difficult to reconcile small Green players struggling against older and bigger Gold players with the Spirit of Cricket. The Club’s aim is that the junior players develop their cricketing skills and play their games in an enjoyable and safe environment with the emphasis on inclusion; the Club motto being ‘Cricket is fun’. It was not always’ fun’ for some of our players this past season because of the above and this will be considered as the Club plans for next season. The Club has continued its policy that there must be a clear pathway through juniors and, as they get older, through to seniors. That is, there is a progressive and planned development of personal and team skills that enable juniors to transit smoothly through each successive junior level and, from there, to senior cricket. This did not run as smoothly as planned this season, and efforts will be made to rectify shortcomings in the coming year. Nevertheless, seventeen registered juniors played in senior teams during the season.

It also gives mums, dads and even grandparents an opportunity to participate and be involved in the activity with their children and thus build stronger family relationships – and, for the club, provides a source of parent volunteers in the future as the child advances through the junior age groups.

Edinburgh Cricket Club Junior Season Report 2016 - 2017 Edinburgh Cricket Club * * * - 2 - Edinburgh Cricket Club * * * - 3 - Edinburgh Cricket Club * * * Edinburgh Cricket Club Junior Season Report 2016 – 2017 A LOOK BACK Season 2016-17 was always going to be a big one, with 21 junior AT SEASON teams, including 5 x U10s, 7 x U12s and 2 girls teams, and around 250 2016 - 2017 players. To manage the large numbers of players and teams, the club innovated with the introduction of age level coordinators (ALCs), which was an enormous help to me in my first season as junior coordinator. To Dean Campbell, Randall Nodin, Eamon Drew, Kris Marshall, Richard Hinds and Cara Evans, a big thank you from me for taking on the ALC roles. A further innovation this season was the introduction of a coaching curriculum, brought to life through the tireless efforts of Richard Blanche, and providing guiding structures and resources for age specific training sessions and season-long training programs. As Richard says, this is a living body of work that needs constant updating and review, importantly through the use and feedback of coaches. It will continue to be a major focus of club leadership as we continue to implement and develop a program that balances fun and enjoyment of cricket with skills development and achieving on-field success. The final key element in getting through the season with sanity and MyCricket intact was Club Administrator Pauline Ioannou, whose efforts have been first class. Coaches and team managers across the club have thrown themselves into their roles, and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
