QOM: Which experiences in your past were the best preparation for serving as the Harris County District Attorney?

HCDA Kim Ogg: I am a native Houstonian so living here every day of my life gives me knowledge on the city. My mother was a crime victim. She was kidnapped in 1962 by a serial rapist. She was able to escape by jumping out of his car. My mother did not complain about it and she did not try to influence me, but the im- pact was life long and it very much motivated me to take up the cause of becoming a crime lawyer. My father was a lawyer and leader in gov- ernment and so he passed a lot of legislation dealing with crime. I think that the marriage of the victim per- spective and public servant perspective best prepared me to be Harris County’s District Attorney.
