Thank you to Des for the snowflakes and to eve- ryone for their donations which came to £160 and will be split between the Village Hall and the Church. 5 An Evening with Sam Luxemburg. Thursday 7th December @ 7pm Tadmarton village Hall. For those who have not yet registered their interest, there are still some spaces available. Sam emigrated from England to Australia in August 1963 because he was offered a job in computer programming. This was when computers were still very new, cost millions of pounds, and were too big to fit into an average living room! However, in the mid-seventies, Sam had a revelation moment, and switched from working with his head to working with his heart. Sam studied, and subsequently qualified as a psychologist, and for the last 35 years his career in this field has included counsellor, teacher, management coach and organisational consultant. Sam Luxemburg retired last year after an active career in psychology in Australia. He is spending a year in Europe and has now fallen in love with Oxfordshire and is staying in Lower Tadmarton. Psychoanalysis, behaviourism and counselling are three flavours of psychology. How is it that they are all so relevant, and yet all so different? Note that they are all created by men. Why no women, especially when the majority of psychologists are female? Further developments have included PTSD, EMDR, CBT, REBT and a lot more alphabet soup! THREE MEN WHO CHANGED PSYCHOLOGY Sigmund Freud Carl Rogers BF Skinner Sam’s particular interests include the work of Carl Rogers, plus mindfulness, self-awareness and empathy. As light refreshments and canapés are provided, please register your interest in advance with; Sam Luxemburg Registered Psychologist in Australia Member of the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Counselling Psychologists [email protected] or, by ringing him, on 07474067793 6 £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ £ Tadmarton Village Hall 250 Club November 2017 Lovesey. £15. Bill Darbon will be talking to us on the subject of: ‘Cacti and Succulents’ and, to end the evening Mulled Wine, Sausage Rolls and Mince Pies Look forward to seeing you all there. PS. Don’t forget 8th February 2018 when Pauline Pears will be talking to us about 7 8 Tadmarton Charities As the Village Appraisal highlighted the fact that many people in the Village knew little about Tadmarton Charites I thought it would be helpful to give a little back- ground especially as new people move into the village. Tadmarton Charities is an amalgamation of the Poor’s Land Charity, the Macder- mot Charity and the Macdermot’s Educational Charity. The Poor’s Land Charity arose from the Inclosures Act of 1775 when a small area of land, which is now part of Tadmarton Golf Course, was made available to help the poor and needy of the parish. Subsequently this land was swapped for the 16 acres which the charities now own. This comprises of 2 fields which run down from the golf course road and up to a field owned by the Banbury Ornithological Society. The 16 acres of land provide a rental income which makes up the majority of the income distributed to recipients in the parish. The other main investment is a hold- ing in M & G Charifund originally of £12,500 which were monies received for granting a right of access to the Banbury Ornithological Society land back in 2005. This holding does not distribute income and with the addition of £3,000 from our Building Society account was worth £31,071 at the date of the last ac- counts (Dec 2016). The Trustees are strictly bound by the trust deed which allows us to ‘relieve either generally, or individually, those residents of the Parish who are considered to be in genuine need, or suffering hardship, or distress’. It is interesting to look back and see that in 1867 the charity delivered coal to 70 families who were deemed to qualify. However there are still people and families who are in genuine need and it is the trustees job to allocate funds to them. They do of course rely on people applying for themselves or nominating others. The Trustees would now like to hear from any person who feels that they, a neigh- bour, friend, or family member, might qualify for consideration for the 2017 dis- tribution. The name, address and brief details should be provided to the Clerk to the Trustees at the address given below. Those who have always received help from the Chari- ty will automatically qualify and need not reapply. C Dean Clerk to Tadmarton Charities 9 Christmas at The Lampet Arms. Armed with loppers, secateurs, strim- mers and saws we remove fallen trees and thin out the undergrowth, allowing established trees to flourish. We have made great progress over the last few years, and are planning to do some tree planting this year in some of the areas that we have opened up. If you have not been involved in this before and would like to find out more please contact me for further details. We will be having working parties out between January and March 2018, meeting at 9 a.m. at the top of the woods and finishing by about 12.30 p.m. The commitment is as great or little as you wish and all volunteers will be welcomed. The planned dates, weather permitting, are: Sunday 14 January Sunday 11 February Sunday 11 March Sunday 28 January Sunday 25 February Sunday 25 March WELCOME TO TADMARTON Please contact Tim Turner on 01295 780764 if you have recently moved into Tadmarton or if you know someone who is a new arrival.

Collective Worship ➢ Annex 1: Membership of SACRE ➢ Annex 2: Attendance record for SACRE Members 2016-17 ➢ Annex 3: Reflections ➢ Annex 4: The value of SACRE: a view from two members ➢ Examination results by individual schools FOREWORD FROM THE CHAIR I was honoured to be elected Chair of SACRE in November and first and foremost want to thank Nick Wood for all his years in the role; I hope I will serve the Council as effectively and enthusiastically, if perhaps not quite for so long! These are challenging times for RE and SACREs and my main priority as Chair is to ensure that we, as a representative body, are as active and effective as we can be in supporting and challenging schools to provide good quality RE to all pupils. We will do this by making our presence more felt both physically and on the web. Whilst communication between SACRE and schools is more challenging, we recognise the importance of working with schools to share their good practice and to spread the provision of quality religious education and meaningful collective worship. RE remains a statutory subject for all schools and its importance has never been more acute than today. Pupils need the opportunity to make sense of their own and others’ views of life and to have an accurate knowledge and understanding of different beliefs and ways of life.

saturday 8 - monday 31 may 2010 free guide www.artweeks.org Sponsored by Welcome to Artweeks 2010 2010 is set to be the biggest Artweeks ever with 474 sites exhibiting during the Festival. Artweeks plays a vital role in bringing artists and art enthusiasts and buyers together across the county. Our goal this year is to bring new audiences to the work of Oxfordshire's creative community, those who might find the idea of going to a gallery daunting. By visiting an open studio and talking to the artist you get to understand the creative process, the way they have tried to convey their ideas and the effect they have created. Most of the works on view are for sale and you'll find some originals at prices that you might pay for a mass-produced copy in a quality department store. Artweeks is all about involvement and originality; by simply going along to a couple of studios and seeing what is on offer, you too add to the vibrancy of Oxfordshire's biggest arts festival. ANNUAL REPORT OF THE OXFORDSHIRE STANDING ADVISORY COUNCIL ON RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (SACRE) September 2017 – July 2018 CONTENTS ➢ Foreword ➢ 1. Standards and quality of provision of RE ➢ 2. Managing the SACRE and Partnership with the LA and Other Key Stakeholders ➢ 3. Effectiveness of the Agreed Syllabus ➢ 4. Collective Worship ➢ Annex 1: Membership of SACRE ➢ Annex 2: Attendance record for SACRE Members 2017-18 ➢ Annex 3: Report from the meeting with the Commissioner ➢ Examination results by individual schools FOREWORD FROM THE CHAIR 2017 – 18 continued to be an important one for RE nationally, with the publication of the Interim Report from the Commission on RE. We were most fortunate to have an invitation for one of the Commissioners, Dr Joyce Miller, to present at a meeting and, having invited teachers to attend, we had a good turn out with some interesting questions and discussions. A report from this is included in Annex 3. This was the first event, we hope of many, that we planned to raise the presence or SACRE and of RE across Oxfordshire. I am keen to examine and address membership representation on SACRE. This is an important group within, but independent of, the Local Authority, with representatives from Christian churches, different faiths and beliefs, teachers and County Councillors. With a full and active membership, it supports schools in providing good religious education across all phases and types of school. RE is not just learning about religions and studying people and ideas from the past. It must also build bridges to the future through the development of thoughtful belief and ways of living, reflecting on the wisdom of the past and applying it to the issues and challenges of today.

University of Kent's Institution Contextual Flag All schools on this list meet the requirements for the University of Kent's Institution Contextual Flag. The Institution Contextual Flag is given to all institutions whose data indicates that they perform in the bottom 40% nationally for KS5 results reported by the Department for Education each year. We use the average point school per entry and where data is not available, we use KS4 result, if available. In order to make this more reliable we look at data over a three year period to see if they are low performing for at least two out of the last three years. In cases where an Institution is flagged, but subsequently closes, the flag will be retained and the institution will continue to appear on the list. We use the Institution supplied by you in your UCAS application (the UCAS centre or Last Institution) to identify whether it has a Contextual Flag. Please note: independent schools are not included, neither do we have data from government agencies in Scotland and Northern Ireland and therefore these cannot be given a flag. Similarly, there may be schools or colleges which have recently changed name, status or have merged and this has resulted in no data being reported by the Department of Education , in these instances we will not be able to assess the Institution for a Contextual Flag.
