In systematic review a total of eighty four species in twenty eight genera of Phylines are recognized from the Korean Peninsula. During this study, twenty new reports including six new species were investigated; and purposed a synonym and revised recombination. Keys to genera and species, diagnosis, descriptions including male and female genitalia, illustrations and short biological notes are provided for each of the species.

The genus Acrorrhin- ium Noualhier is reported from Thailand for the first time and diagnosed. Three new species, Acrorrhinium kranion, A. lancialium and A. tritonion, are described. The immature forms are confirmed for A. lancialium (5th instar) and A. trito- nion (4th instar); the latter species was found to be associated with Hibiscus tiliaceus L. The little known hallodapines in Asia, Alloeomimus muiri Schuh and Clapmarius thailandana Schuh, are also diagnosed. An annotated check list of the Hallodapini in Thailand and color digital images in life for all currently known Thai species are provided.

One new species from Texas, Teleorhinus crataegi, sp. nov., is described. Teleorhinus oregoni Knight, 1968 is transferred to Orectoderus Uhler. The following new synonyms are proposed (senior synonym first): O. arcuatus Knight = O. schuhi Knight; O. montanus Knight = O. utahensis Knight, O. salicis Knight, and O. cockerelli Knight; O. obliquus Uhler = O. ruckesi Knight; P. clavicornis Knight = P. ribesi Knight and P. ruber Knight; T. cyaneus Uhler = T. brind­ leyi Knight and T. nigricornis Knight; T. tephrosicola Knight = T. floridanus Blatchley and T. utahensis Knight; O. bakeri Knight = T. oregoni Knight Orectoderus and Teleorhinus are trans- ferred from the Hallodapini Van Duzee to the Pronotocrepini Knight. The Palearctic genus Ethelastia Reuter, 1876, is reviewed and transferred from the Phylini to the Pronotocrepini. This new genus is easily recognized by having a myrmecomorphic appearance and a scutellar hump in both sexes. Systellonotus stysi J. Ribes, Pagola-Carte et Heiss, 2008, was described based on females collected in Tenerife and La Palma, but careful examination showed that specimens from each island belong to different species, and can be transferred to the new genus Perenotus. As a result, Perenotus includes two species, P. s t y s i comb. n. for specimens from Tenerife and P. malobae sp. nov. for specimens from La Palma. In the present publication Perenotus gen. nov. and P. malobae sp. nov. are described, P. s t y s i female is redescribed, and P. s t y s i male is described for the first time.

We document the temporal relation of 0. obliquus to its host plant, Penstemon procerus brachycanthus (Pennell) Cronq., as well as to species of ants and visual predators that may serve as models and operators in a Batesian mimicry system including 0. obliquus. The morphological and behavioral correspondence between various stages of the myrmecomorph and the six most common species of potential ant models is described. Orectoderus obliquus Uhler (Miridae: Phylinae) is a myrmecomorphic plant bug traditionally placed in the tribe Hallodapini (Carvalho, 1958; Knight, 1968). New evidence suggests, however, that Orectoderus and its New World relatives Coquillettia Uhler and Teleorhinus Uhler form a monophyletic group distinct from other hal- lodapines (R. T. Schuh, pers. comm.). The less ant-like Nearctic genus Pronotocrepis Knight and the Palearctic genus Ethelastia Reuter also seem to belong to this group. Orectoderus is a North American genus comprised of ten species, of which only 0. obliquus is found east ofthe Rocky Mountains. The genus was reviewed by Knight (1968), who described six new species and provided a key to adult males. Our determination ofobliquus for the present study was based on information in Knight's review in conjunction with an examination oftype specimens at the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C.

Bureau of Plant Industry, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 171 10 Abstract. -An inventory of the Miridae associated with scrub (bear) oak, Quercus ilicifolia Wangenh., was conducted in northeastern pitch pine-scrub oak barrens and related natural communities from Maine to Virginia, nearly the complete range of this plant. Samples were taken throughout the season in an extensive pine barren near Frackville, northeastern Penn- sylvania. Accounts of the 44 species collected (33 at Frackville) include a review of known distribution and biology, new state records obtained during the study, and data on seasonal history and habits on scrub oak. Three patchily distributed, rarely collected antlike (myrme- comorphic) mirids were discovered: Pilophorusfurvus Knight, Schaffneria davisi Knight, and S. schaffneri Knight. These were collected only in or near aphid colonies tended by the ant Dolichoderus taschenbergi (Mayr), and they may be Batesian mimics gaining protection from predators because of their resemblance to ants. The rich fauna of Q. ilicifolia consists of phytophagous and predacious mirids, including early-season specialists on staminate catkins, and appears to be more diverse than that occurring on some larger (canopy) oak species. Faunal composition varied among the communities in- ventoried and, at a given site, changed with seasonal progression. Species richness was greatest in larger pine barrens; few Miridae were collected in remnant pine barrens or in most ridgetop barrens. Several plant bugs are abundant on (but not restricted to) scrub oak, and may be considered indicator species of pine barrens and similar communities.

Fossil Miridae ofthe subfamily Phylinae from Baltic amber are reported for the first time. A new genus Hallodapomimus gen. n. including two new species H. elektrinus sp. n. and H. succinus sp. n. are described and illustrated. The new genus is included in the tribe Hallodapini. INTRODUCTION Most reports on heteropteran amber inclusions of the family Miridae concern representatives of the subfamilies Isometopinae and Cylapinae (CARVALHO 1966, 1985, CARVALHO & POPOV 1984, GERMAR & BERENDT 1856, JORDAN 1944, HERCZEK 1991a, 1993, HERCZEK & POPOV 1997a, b, PoPov & HERCZEK 1993). Species which belong to other mirid subfamilies have seldom been described (HERCZEK 1991b, HERCZEK & GORCZYCA 1991, HERCZEK & POPOV 1992), and there are no data on the representatives of Phylinae (in spite of available inclusions), even though this group has been studied extensively (e.g. by SCHUH 1974, 1984). This shortage seems to be resulted from the large number of extant genera, which constitute the latter subfamily (about 300), and to the wide distribution of their representatives, which occur in tropical, subtropical and temperate zones (ScHuH & SLATER 1995). The situation is firther complicated by the fact that in the analysis there are important characters ofgenitalia, which makes a comparison of fossil and recent forms difficult.

Four hundred seventy-six specimens of fat bugs were studied, and antennal malformations were found in 14 of them (2.94%) (belonging to eight species and three subfamilies: Aradinae, Aneurinae and Mezirinae). All of the teratologies were observed using optical microscopy; moreover, in order to determine any compensatory regeneration, selected cases were also studied using a scanning electron microscope. In almost all of the specimens, the successful regeneration of the sensory organs to various degrees was observed. Additional results were the discovery of a previously unrecognized type of sensillum in fat bugs – a campaniform sensillum as well as signifcant diferences in the distribution of the sensilla depending on the systematic afliation. Teratological cases of insects have long been of interest to entomologists. The first information about the abnormal structure of the Heteroptera antennae was given by Heineken in 18291. He reported the existence of three-segmented antennae, which were shorter and thicker than those with a normal structure in the genus Reduvius (Reduviidae). Next, Burmeister provided information on the frequent collection of specimens of Raglius alboacuminatus (Rhyparochromidae) that had only three (but much larger) segments on one of the antennae2.
