They use their time efficiently, applying a sensible approach to both home and work. People switch back and forth with ease between time on and off the job many times each day. It is this easy transition between work and home that allows people in today’s Swedish society to fully enjoy life. On dark, wintry mornings, they wake up; light candles; drop their children off at daycare; hurry to work; take care of the morning’s first tasks; and then at 10am they stop to relax with a morning fika (coffee break). Fika revolves around coffee, but it wouldn’t be complete without a cinnamon roll or some other sweet baked goods. Back after lunch, they work a few more hours before taking an afternoon fika. Fika at work is a valuable tool for colleagues to communicate on a personal level, as well as about work ̶ killing two birds with one stone. They give their full concentration to their work while on the job and finish up quickly. They don’t hang around the office unless there is work to do, and they make good use of the hours between the end of the workday and when they sit down to dinner.

Published in final edited form as: Pharmacol Ther. 2021 August ; 224: 107838. doi:10.1016/j.pharmthera.2021.107838. Toxicology of flavoring- and cannabis-containing e-liquids used in electronic delivery systems Aleksandr B. Stefaniaka,*, Ryan F. LeBoufa, Anand C. Ranparaa, Stephen S. Leonardb aRespiratory Health Division, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV 26505, USA bHealth Effects Laboratory Division, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV 26505, USA Abstract Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) were introduced in the United States in 2007 and by 2014 they were the most popular tobacco product amongst youth and had overtaken use of regular tobacco cigarettes. E-cigarettes are used to aerosolize a liquid (e-liquid) that the user inhales. Flavorings in e-liquids is a primary reason for youth to initiate use of e-cigarettes. Evidence is growing in the scientific literature that inhalation of some flavorings is not without risk of harm. In this review, 67 original articles (primarily cellular in vitro) on the toxicity of flavored e-liquids were identified in the PubMed and Scopus databases and evaluated critically. At least 65 individual flavoring ingredients in e-liquids or aerosols from e-cigarettes induced toxicity in the respiratory tract, cardiovascular and circulatory systems, skeletal system, and skin. Cinnamaldehyde was most frequently reported to be cytotoxic, followed by vanillin, menthol, ethyl maltol, ethyl vanillin, benzaldehyde and linalool. Additionally, modern e-cigarettes can be modified to aerosolize cannabis as dried plant material or a concentrated extract.

They are available in wide varieties and their preferences may vary according to the regional demands. Easy access of global information and exposure of various bakery products has increased the demand for bakery ingredients. Baking ingredients offer several advantages such as reduced costs, volume enhancement, better texture, colour, and flavour enhancement. For example, ingredients such enzymes improve protein solubility and reduce bitterness in end products, making enzymes one of the most preferred ingredients in the baking industry. Every ingredient in a recipe has a specific purpose. It's also important to know how to mix or combine the ingredients properly, which is why baking is sometimes referred to as a science. There are reactions in baking that are critical to a recipe turning out correctly. Even some small amount of variation can dramatically change the result. Whether its breads or cake, each ingredient plays a part.

STOKE READS Stoke Family Cookbook #StokeReads stokereads.org.uk 2 Foreword “Stoke-on-Trent is famous for lots of iconic dishes and as a city we’re passionate about our food. It’s great to see that some classic Stoke recipes, like everyone’s favourite oatcakes and a traditional Staffordshire lobby, have made their way into the cookbook - as well as food from lots of different cultures. Food and cooking is a brilliant way of celebrating the rich and varied heritage of our city, as well as bringing families across Stoke-on-Trent together at the dinner table. I hope everyone will take time to talk about and try out some of the great dishes in this cookbook.” - Councillor Lilian Dodd, Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent “Wherever we’re from and whatever we’re interested in, one thing we can all agree on is that sitting down for a good meal with loved ones is one of life’s great pleasures. And the good news is that it has literacy benefits too! Our research shows that children who sit down to eat dinner and talk with their family are more confident at talking than those who don’t. “Reading recipes, writing shopping lists, and following the steps to create a meal are all simple and fun ways to improve the skills that children need to succeed and be happy– and you get to enjoy a delicious meal at the end! There are so many great recipes in this cookbook from lots of different community groups across Stoke-on-Trent and I can’t wait to test some out at home!” - Jonathan Douglas, Director of the National Literacy Trust #StokeReads stokereads.org.uk 3 Starters #StokeReads stokereads.org.uk 4 Name: Patricija Švencionyte School: Burnwood Community Primary School Shashlik Ingredients: • 4 onions • 100g oil • 200g mayonnaise • 2kg pork shoulder • A blend of spices of your choice – suggested spices include ground cumin, black pepper, ground cinnamon, ground coriander, cayenne pepper, etc.

Several Clubs were involved with organising either individually or as a group selling tickets to the movie “Murder on the Orient Express.” ThereDistrict 9910 was so much enthusiasm that tickets were over sold and some well-known Rotarians (won’t mention names) were balloted out and did not get the opportunity of seeing the movie. Over all everyone enjoyed the night and the funds raised will be well received. CLUB VISITS UPDATE: On the 11th November Denise and I commenced our last Club visits by travelling to Vanuatu. On hand to meet us at the airport was Assistant Governor Richard Purdy who took us to our accommo- dation and got us settled in. / Authentic Danish Pastry / / FIKA: Enjoy the small things / In harmony with the idea of ‘Lagom’, the secret of Swedish happiness, Scandinavian artisans create perfect cakes under the premise “not too much, not too little, just the right balance”. In Sweden, FIKA* is a tradition which means getting together to have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. It’s much more than just a break; it’s part of a lifestyle, a legitimate excuse to share and enjoy moments in life with something sweet. Conceived in Scandinavia, we present: LØVE + ØVEN: LØVEN The Authentic Danish Pastry *El acompañante más común con el café para Fika son los remolinos de canela. / Wienerbrød: the Scandinavian recipe / Innovation The classic Scandinavian recipe combined with the innovation of new fillings and fruit. Elaboration A tasty yeast-leavened dough of wheat flour, free range eggs, sugar, and generous quantities of soft margarine interleaved between the different layers giving a more pliable texture, different from other doughs. Filled With plentiful exquisite fillings together with pieces of real fruit; custard cream, marzipan, apple compote, chocolate chips, diced mango, we achieve a renewed vision of this most traditional Scandinavian recipe. / LØVEN CROWN/ An original shape with a “royal look” The crown shape leaves nobody indifferent. But it’s not just its outward appearance. The soft texture and the intense flavour of the fillings - its strawberries and custard cream are a delicate combination - taken to the next level.
