All other applications are dealt with by Officers. This summary gives a brief overview of the applications granted and highlights some of these cases; particular in relation to development that may involve the creation or retention of jobs, either in construction or as part of the built development. 1.3 Between 2nd April 2011 and 6th May 2011 there were 98 planning applications granted under delegated powers. This period represents approximately one twelfth of the total number of applications granted under delegated powers in a year. Applications Granted 2.1 Of the 98 granted planning applications, 52 (53%) were for householder applications, mostly for house extensions. It is worth noting the majority of extensions to houses do not require planning permission. Permission is only required generally for the larger or more obvious extensions that may have some impact on neighbours or the street scene. These 52 granted applications mean a significant number of occupiers in the City will be able to make substantial improvements to their homes. These house extensions often involve significant personal investment by the owners that will also support jobs in the local building trade. 2.2 There were 36 (37%) non-householder applications granted under delegated powers between 2nd April 2011 and 6th May 2011. These included commercial development, new residential properties and public sector development. 2.3 Planning permission (10/01151 EXT) has been granted for the erection of 14 new dwellings at 55-57 Albert Road. 2.4 Planning permission (10/01373/FUL) has been granted for major alterations at Dudley Road School Community Centre which will help to enhance the range of activities at the site. 2.5 Planning permission (10/01394/FUL) has been granted for an extension to an existing place of worship and associated car parking permitted at Mander Street. It will provide improvement and expansion to a valuable community facility. 2.6 Planning permission (11/00041/FUL) has been granted at Unit 1, Wednesfield Business Park, Waddensbrook Lane. The change of use will result in a redundant unit being brought back into use, along with necessary improvements which would enhance the industrial unit and enable further works to alter units and creation of at least one new job. Page 2 of 68 2.7 Planning permission (11/00083/FUL) has been granted for extension, change of use and refurbishment to enable an established Doctors Surgery to expand at 40/44 Thornley Street. 2.8 Planning permission (11/00088/FUL) has been granted for an extension to the Co-Op undertakers at High Street, Bilston. It will allow this business to make the operation more efficient. Conclusion 3.1 The above information briefly summarises the applications that have been granted under delegated powers in Wolverhampton over a period of approximately one month. The schedule which follows gives details of each individual application. Each application is accompanied by the name of the planning officer dealing with that case. Their contact telephone numbers are printed on the front of this report should you have any queries about a particular case.
