The Saddleridge fire broke out in Sylmar near the 210 Freeway on Thursday night and is burning out of control, threatening thousands of homes. The fire is currently at 25 acres with 0% containment. The fire will continue to spread within the containment of the river bottom due to the east winds. There is currently a voluntary evacuation order and shelter in place order for residences near the fire. Please reference the map below for detailed evacuation information. For more information call 805-527-4437 Rancho Santa Susana Community Center, 5005 E Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, CA 93063 ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION: 118 Easbound closed at Kuehner -Victoria Avenue closed between Gonzales Road and Olivas Park Drive Riverside County Fires Reche Fire (Riverside County)Firefighters continued to get a handle on the fast- moving Reche fire and announced Friday morning, Oct. 11, that forward spread had stopped.As of about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, the blaze was 40 percent contained, officials said. Firefighters are on scene to strengthen containment lines.The fire, in a canyon area north of Moreno Valley, blackened 350 acres Thursday after flames from a trailer fire spread to nearby brush and led to evacuations in the rural community.Those evacuations were lifted at 9 p.m. Thursday as officials announced the fire was 10 percent contained.The trailer fire was reported about 1 p.m. in the 9300 block of Reche Canyon Road and quickly grew due to strong Santa Ana winds, officials said.As of Friday morning, 91 firefighters were battling the fire in steep, hilly terrain. Two air tankers and a helicopter were helping in the firefight.There were no immediate reports of injuries or damaged structures and the cause of the fire was under investigation.There are no road or school closures and no evacuation orders. Sandalwood Fire (Riverside County) Evacuation orders in the Calimesa area in Riverside County remained in place Friday after a burning load from a garbage truck ignited a blaze yesterday afternoon, spreading and destroying 74 structures and leaving one person dead, authorities said. The Sandalwood Fire has burned 823 acres, or about 1.28 square miles, and was 10% contained as of Friday morning, according to CalFire. A person in a mobile home died, the agency confirmed. Officials have not provided information on whether or not every resident has been accounted for. The Associated Press previously reported that at least one person, an 89-year-old woman, was missing. A garbage truck had dumped a burning load of trash in the area of Calimesa Boulevard and Sandalwood Drive at around 2 p.m. Thursday and sparked a fire, according to CalFire.The flames spread into vegetation and into the Calimesa Mobile Home Park, where 74 homes were destroyed and 16 were damaged, fire officials said. The mobile home community's website said it had a capacity for 110 homes.CalFire said investigators are treating the site as a crime scene. Shelters: The Calimesa Senior Center care and reception site will close at 7:30 P.M. this evening. A shelter has been opened at 7:30 P.M. at: Mesa Grande Academy, 975 Fremont Street, Calimesa, CA. Transportation will be provided to current evacuees from the Calimesa Senior Center to Mesa Grande Acedemy by the City of Calimesa. MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS: South of 7th Street, east of County Line Road. Animal shelter: Large and small animals may be taken to the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, located at 581 S. Grand Avenue, in San Jacinto. If residents are unable to get to their pets and need help to evacuate pets, please call (951) 358-7387.
