Umhlanga Set To Rock! Turffontein-based trainer Tyrone Zackey travels into the SA Champions Season bull-ring on Saturday with a lightly raced son of A P Arrow who contests the Gr1 Daily News 2000. Tyrone has been down this road before – big names like 2012 July hard-luck horse Smanjemanje, Singing Sword and Judicial are three Zackey gallopers that spring to mind. “I have 30 horses in my string and it’s not an easy game training slow horses. But we it and we soldier on – I have some nice 2yo’s. But time will tell!” he laughs. The 69 year old says he is ‘absolutely under no false illusions’ about the prospects of the twice raced Glider Pilot. We asked whether he had gone close in the Daily News in years gone by. “No. I have never tried it. Win, lose or draw, the race will give us an idea of how good our boy is. We won’t be backing him, if I can put it that way.The owners love the game and enjoy going down to Umhlanga Rocks - so it’s a good weekend break and we like to take our chances in Gr1’s when the opportunity arises. He has done nothing wrong and I gave them the confidence to have a bet on his debut, which he duly won when backed from 40’s to 10’s,” he says with a broad smile. Tyrone recalled that the half-brother to 2016 Daily News star Rabada had shown little when he arrived after the sale but slowly started beating companions in gallops. “He was bought at that Van Vuuren dispersal sale and there were some administrative issues with the paperwork and delays. Heversham Park Innovation Bonus For Breeders Heversham Park Farm has introduced an exciting new innovation for breeders that support its stallions in the 2017 breeding season. All breeders of a two year old winner by a Heversham Park Farm based selected stallion will re- ceive a R30 000 cash bonus upon the horse’s first win anywhere in the country. Heversham’s marketing and sales director Katerina Theart explained that the purpose of the bonus was to reward those breeders using the farm’s stallion roster. The Plus 30 Bonus allows breeders to reap a reward even if they have not sold or obtained a high price for a yearling. The breeder can choose to keep the reward for their own benefit or cede it to the yearling purchaser as an added extra. The Heversham Park Farm Stallion roster for 2017 will be finalised shortly… Enquiries: Contact: Fred Brons at [email protected] /CELL: 083 325 8161 SPORTING POST • THURSDAY 1 JUNE 2017 18

UEFA Champions League Final Juventus vs Real Madrid | Sat 3 June | (Cardiff) | 20:45

Two giants collide for the ultimate crown when Juventus battle it out with current UEFA Champions League title-holders, Real Madrid. The final pits the tournament’s best defence up against the fiercest attack. Both sides claimed a record 33rd league title in their respective leagues this season, proving that they’re worthy of challenging to be Europe’s best. Madrid will look to do what no club has done before and retain their Champions League trophy. The side from the Spanish capital are record 11-time winners, while Juve have won Europe’s elite tournament twice in their history. This promises to be a thrilling final with plenty of fireworks expected in Cardiff.

To catch up with Chadley Nagel’s previews click here juventus At the start of the tournament, many people saw Juventus as no more than a team that should reach the knockout stages, but will be knocked out when they meet Europe’s so-called “bigger giants”. Game by game, the Bianconeri proved their doubters wrong, shutting out some of the best attacking forces on the continent, while putting their defence to shame with some brilliant displays going forward. Juventus have built up their reputation through their impressive defence this campaign. Whether Massimiliano Allegri played a back-four or opted to play a back-three, the Old Lady have always been impressive. Their performances have the statistics to back them up as well with the Italian giants only conceding three times in the Champions League en route to the final. real madrid Real Madrid come into this final off the back of a superb La Liga winning-campaign, beating Barcelona by three points. As mentioned before, that was a record 33rd league title for Los Blancos. Zinedine Zidane’s first full season has been nothing short of greatness. Zidane has proven to be a mastermind tactician who knows all about the Galactico way of playing football and winning silverware. Madrid are on the longest scoring run across all competitions – 64 matches – and if they were to score in the final, they will become the first club to score 500 in the competition.

Probable line-ups: Juventus: 3-4-2-1 Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Dani Alves, Pjanic, Khe- dira, Alex Sandro; Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain. Real Madrid: 4-3-3 Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; Isco, Benzema, Ronaldo.
