  • ELECTORAL DIVISION PROFILE 2017 This Division Comprises Bungay and Wainford Wards in Their Entirety Plus Part of the Saints Ward
UNGAY ELECTORAL DIVISION PROFILE 2017 This Division comprises Bungay and Wainford wards in their entirety plus part of The Saints ward www.suffolkobservatory.info 2 © Crown copyright and database rights 2017 Ordnance Survey 100023395 CONTENTS . Demographic Profile: Age & Ethnicity . Economy and Labour Market . Schools & NEET . Index of Multiple Deprivation . Health . Crime & Community Safety . Additional Information . Data Sources 3 ELECTORAL DIVISION PROFILES: AN INTRODUCTION These profiles have been produced to support elected members, constituents and other interested parties in understanding the demographic, economic, social and educational profile of their neighbourhoods. We have used the latest data available at the time of publication. Much more data is available from national and local sources than is captured here, but it is hoped that the profile will be a useful starting point for discussion, where local knowledge and experience can be used to flesh out and illuminate the information presented here. The profile can be used to help look at some fundamental questions e.g. Does the age profile of the population match or differ from the national profile? . Is there evidence of the ageing profile of the county in all the wards in the Division or just some? . How diverse is the community in terms of ethnicity? . What is the impact of deprivation on families and residents? . Does there seem to be a link between deprivation and school performance? . What is the breakdown of employment sectors in the area? . Is it a relatively healthy area compared to the rest of the district or county? . What sort of crime is prevalent in the community? A vast amount of additional data is available on the Suffolk Observatory www.suffolkobservatory.info The Suffolk Observatory is a free online resource that contains all Suffolk’s vital statistics; it is the one‐stop‐shop for information and intelligence about Suffolk.

  • The Planning Act 2008 Lake Lothing Third Crossing
The Planning Act 2008 Lake Lothing Third Crossing Examining Authority’s Report of Findings and Conclusions and Recommendation to the Secretary of State for Transport Examining Authority David Morgan BA MA (T&CP) MA (Bld Con IoAAS) MRTPI IHBC – Lead Member Stephen Roscoe BEng MSc CEng MICE – Panel Member 5 September 2019 This page is intentionally blank OVERVIEW File Ref: TR010023 The application for the Lake Lothing Third Crossing (the Proposed Development), dated 3 July 2018, was made under section 37 of the Planning Act 2008 and received in full by the Planning Inspectorate on 13 July 2018. The Applicant is Suffolk County Council. The application was accepted for examination on 9 August 2018. The examination of the application began on 5 December 2018 and was completed on 5 June 2019. The Proposed Development comprises a new multi-span single carriageway opening bascule bridge highway crossing which, via associated approach roads and new roundabout junctions connecting into the existing road network, would link the areas north and south of Lake Lothing, Lowestoft. The opening bascule bridge design, facilitated by a bridge control tower on the south quay, would enable large vessels to continue to use the Port of Lowestoft. The Proposed Development also includes new mooring within the inner harbour for recreational vessels. The Proposed Development would accommodate all types of vehicular traffic as well as non-motorised users, such as cyclists and pedestrians. It would also include a new access road linking Waveney Drive to Riverside Road on the south side of Lake Lothing. Summary of recommendation: The Examining Authority recommends that the Secretary of State should make the Order in the form attached.

  • Norton Marshes to Haddiscoe Dismantled
This area inspired the artist Sir J. A. Arnesby 16 Yare Valley - Norton Marshes to Brown (1866-1955) who lived each summer Haddiscoe Dismantled Railway at The White House, Haddiscoe. Herald of the Night, Sir J.A.Arnesby-Brown Why is this area special? This is a vast area of largely drained marshland which lies to the south of the Rivers Yare and Waveney. It traditionally formed part of the parishes of Norton (Subcourse), Thurlton, Thorpe and Haddiscoe along with a detached part of Raveningham. It would have had a direct connection to what is now known as Haddiscoe Island, prior to the construction of the New Cut which connected the Yare and Waveney together to avoid having to travel across Breydon Water. There are few houses within this marshland area. Those that exist are confined to those locations 27 where there were, or are transport links across NORFOLK the rivers. The remainder of the settlements have 30 28 developed in a linear way hugging the edges of the southern river valley side. 22 31 23 29 The Haddiscoe Dam road provides the main 24 26 connection north-south from Haddiscoe village to 25 NORWICH St Olaves. 11 20 Gt YARMOUTH 10 12 19 21 A journey on the train line from Norwich to 14 9 Lowestoft which follows the line of the New Cut 13 15 18 16 and then hugs the northern side of the Waveney 17 Valley provides a glorious way to view this area as 8 7 public rights of way into the middle of the marshes LOWESTOFT 6 4 (other than the fully navigable river) are few and 2 3 1 5 far between.

  • Lound Annual Parish Meeting
16A/1 Lound Annual Parish Meeting Minutes of the meeting Friday 20th May 2016 at LOUND VILLAGE HALL Commencing at 7.30 p.m. (Subject to amendment until signed by the Chairman at the next meeting) 1. Welcome and Apologies for absence No apologies were received from Parish Councillors as all were present. Also attending were two Suffolk County Councillors, one Waveney District Councillor and ten members of the public. Apologies were received from Sally Popham, Chair of Lound Village Hall and Mike Willeard, Chair of Lounds Bowls Club. 2. Confirm Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Monday 1st June 2015. The minutes were agreed. Proposed by Miles and seconded by Judith. 3. Matters Arising There were no matters arising. 4. Chairman’s Report Chairman’s Report 2016 I would like to start by thanking Parish Councillors and Parishioners for their support over the last year. We are very fortunate to live in a rural village like Lound, and I know a lot of you work hard to make Lound the pleasant village it is. Early next month the official 20mph speed limit signs will be installed in Back Lane. A former Parish Councilor, Derek Bessey, championed this project and lobbied hard for it to be included in Suffolk Highways’ plans. I am very sorry that he is not here to see the project come to fruition. Waveney’s new Local Plan. As you know, Waveney District Council is preparing a new Local Plan. This will replace the existing Local Development Framework, and will set planning policies which will be used to determine future planning applications.

  • East Suffolk Council
SUFFOLK COASTAL AND WAVENEY DISTRICT COUNCILS Joint Response to LGBCE Consultation on Proposed New Electoral Arrangement for: EAST SUFFOLK COUNCIL Overview Overall, Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils (the east Suffolk councils) welcome and support the recommendations made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for the district ward arrangements for East Suffolk Council. We note that the vast majority of the recommendations are in line with our proposals, as laid out in our response of Friday, 4 May 2018 which can be viewed at: http://apps.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/committeeminutes/readdocument.asp?docid=22852 , together with the supporting evidence. We see the recommendations from the Boundary Commission as being positive and in line with local requirements to effectively govern the new East Suffolk Council. For the sake of brevity, this response should be seen as broad agreement on all of the recommendations – apart for the exceptions that we have highlighted below (with our detailed response/suggestions for each): Ward no. 1 - Beccles & Worlingham The Boundary Commission proposed to create a three-councillor Beccles and Worlingham Ward. Although the east Suffolk councils recognise that this addresses the slight variance issue caused by keeping Beccles as a two-councillor self-contained ward (comprising of the Beccles parish only), we remain strongly committed to our original proposals of having two separate wards in this area. There is strong feeling in the area that Worlingham should not be ‘subsumed’ into Beccles, demonstrated by a campaign launched last year (see https://www.facebook.com/Death-of-our-village-109847156378796/) on the reaction to the first draft of the Waveney Local Plan.
