He appreciated the efforts of Sadiq Hussain Advisor GIZ Ph.D Defenses (FSD) and Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor for engaging academia towards this important issue through GIZ. Prof. Dr. M.A. Irfan, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Khizar Azam Khan, Registrar, senior faculty members and students were also present on Engr. Junaid Akbar, successfully completed his Ph.D through a public defense held on May 3rd, 2019. His research area was "Strengthen- the occasion. ing of Reinforced Concrete (RC) building using haunch retrofit solutions". His supervisor was Prof. Dr. Bashir Alam, Department of Civil Engineering. Engr. Uzma Nawaz, Department of Electrical Engineering, defended her Ph.D. theses on 22nd June, 2019. The topics of her Ph.D theses were “Home Pump-storage Hydroelectric (PSHE) System as Alternative to Battery Bank in UPS System”. Her supervisor was Prof. Dr. M. NEWS Naeem Arbab, Dean, faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She presented her research findings through a public seminar. NEWS Engr. Zubair Ahmad, Department of Mechatronics Engineering successfully completed his Ph.D. through a public defense held on 2nd July 2019. His Ph.D. research topic was "Fault tolerant framework development using agent based approaches for manufacturing sectors". His supervisor was Prof. Dr. Tahir Khan, Department of Mechatronics Engineering. Engr. M. Rizwan, successfully completed his Ph.D. through a public defense held on January 19, 2019. His research area was "Perfor- mance based seismic assessment of RC SMRF complaint and non-compliant structures". His supervisor was Prof. Dr. Akhtar Naeem Khan, Dean, Faculty of Civil, Agricultural and Mining Engineering.
