Obviously ¼ lb Cheese Burger £2.40 Danny and Craig are good friends and they've done a fantastic job in getting Silsden back in ¼lb Burger £2.10 the NCEL Premier Division, and in steadying the ship and being comfortable and Giant Hotdog £2.10 competitive at this level. Both teams know eachother pretty well so I expect a close encounter. Chip Butty £1.90 Of late, it just hasn't been going our way for one reason or another. We played well against Tray of Chips £1.30 Handsworth and Yorkshire Amateurs but on both occasions came away with nothing to SUNDRIES show for it. Last week at Garforth has left me still scratching my head as to how we were Chocolate Bars £0.80 beaten, as for large parts we absolutely battered them. You cannot legislate for missed chances though and the penalty miss and Robbo's header were big opportunities. Add HOT DRINKS Trueman's disallowed goal for an 'offside interference' when he shot from 25yards out, and Tea £1.10 it shows when you're down there nothing runs in your favour. As a staff we've questioned Coffee £1.20 ourselves whether we're wearing rose-tinted glasses, but feedback from opposing Bovril £1.30 managers has cemented our feelings that we are a good team. The fact two of our players have rejected approaches from clubs higher placed in the league in the last week shows the Soup £1.30 lads also believe results are coming and there is a good buzz in the changing rooms. Hot Chocolate £1.30 However, the stats don't lie, and one win in 8 isn't good enough. This league can be turned COLD DRINKS on its head on the back of two results so we will remain calm, stick to our principles and Can of Pop £1.00 sometime soon someone is going to get a good hiding. Water £0.90 Enjoy the game, PM Our captain Paul Whiteley gives an insight into team matters: At times we can be masters of our own downfall and we haven’t helped ourselves but over THACKLEY AWAY KIT SPONSORS the last couple of weeks the luck hasn’t been on our side. We have played some really great football at times and dominated large parts of the game against Handsworth, Yorkshire Priestley Joinery offers all Amateurs and Garforth and yet found ourselves on the losing side on each occasion. Each aspects of joinery game I think there has been turning points to where we could have taken the game away from the opposition and failed to do so, whilst the opposition seem to be taking every covering commercial opportunity that comes their way. subcontracting works to Handsworth, they scored a goal on pretty much the half time whilstle and keeping them at nil at half time, I believe would have been a big boost for us. We showed great grit to get domestic home back into the game before they scored late on to win it. Yorkshire Amateur again was similar, we were so close to making it 2-0 and we are playing a different game. They have improvements some great players so it was always going to be a tough game to get something from but E: extending the lead would have been really important for us. Garforth I thought we dominated the game on the whole and had one disallowed and a penalty missed so again if both go in [email protected] we are 2-0 at half time. Even at 1-0 I thought we were still creating a lot however injuries did Please contact Carl Priestley not help us with Broadley, Pooley and Seb all having to leave the field and eventually us being down to 10 men. It was a foul on Seb on the lead up to their second goal which again M: 07989 473356 goes to show luck and decisions haven’t been on our side. Every team goes through a tough patch and hopefully we will be coming out of ours sooner rather than later. We have also been unlucky with not only decision and luck but also with injuries and so I wish Broadley, Seb and Pooley speedy recoveries. Some will be out longer than others and all will be greatly missed. The recipient of the award will be selected by Thackley’s Saturday 31st October 2020 management team who will choose Thackley’s most valuable player over the previous month. Lewis Waddington Good afternoon, and welcome to the Thank You Key Workers Stadium, Dennyfield for Our picture shows Thackley’s player of the month for this afternoon’s Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier League match against September Lewis Waddington being presented with Silsden. We extend a warm Thackley welcome to the players, officials and supporters of his award by manager Pat McGuire. Lewis has broken Silsden and wish them a safe and comfortable short journey to and from Thackley. into the first team this season after a successful season in our Under 21 team last year. He is an Today we return to the ‘Thank You Key Workers Stadium at Dennyfield’ to take on local exciting young player who shows that he is willing to rivals from just up the Aire Valley, Silsden. Like Thackley, the Cobbydalers have not had work hard to make improvements to his game with the a particularly good start to the season. However, in September they did progress past potential to progress even higher. His breakthrough at the first round of both national competitions. In the FA Cup, they defeated Eccleshill the outset of the season was marked with some fine United before going down to Bootle in the subsequent round. Whilst in the FA Vase, performances and some valuable goals and assists. they beat Garstang before losing out to Guisborough Town. With six points from six The future of the club is dependent upon the progress games in the league, they sit a couple of places above Thackley in the table. Their made by our young players and Pat’s selection of a points have come from two wins against Goole (3-2) and Knaresborough (5-3), which young player like Lewis is indicative of the importance suggests they are capable of scoring quite a few goals. It might also say something of young players’ development. about their defending strategy. Silsden moved to the NCEL from the NWCL at the beginning of last season and were one of the teams that Thackley managed to play twice. In their first ever league encounter at the Cobbydale Construction Stadium, Thackley returned to Bradford with all three points. Goals from Jack Normanton and Charlie Flaherty (both have moved on this season) good enough to cancel out Aidan Kirby’s (also moved on) goal for Silsden. In the game at Dennyfield the teams shared four goals, Ryan Basi and Asa Mitchell scoring for Thackley. With just four points from eight games, Thackley need to start adding to their tally. So far, ‘Lady Luck’ seems to have deserted them, injuries, unavailability and some rather unbelievable refereeing decisions have not aided their cause.

  • Photo Cathryn Bell
PhotoPhoto Cathryn Cathryn Bell Bell 2 There is little doubt that this February has been a remarkable month; the weather has been kind and it has ended with a spring like weekend, the like of which I don’t recall so early in the year. Yes, we have had mild winters, many times over the last twenty years, but not a prolonged warm spell more suited to the Canary Islands. The population of Idle and Thackley have taken full advantage filling the shops and sitting in the sun outside the pubs and clubs. One thing I did notice during the last week of the month was my neighbours sitting outside, in the garden, late in the evening, admittedly they had a fire pit going full blast. But February? Thackley’s licensed trade appears to have taken on a new life too over the last month or so with work starting on the refurbishment of the Great Northern, although we do not know yet what the actual plans are. There has also been investment at the Commercial Inn—see this issue—where they have altered the function facility, making it into one room twice as big, with new carpets and decoration. At the junction of Craghill Road and Thackley Road, planning permission has also just been granted for a micro-pub in the old grocers shop on the corner, formerly run by Mr Teddy Eva. Gardeners are getting ready for the new season, although it is still a little early for planting, with the danger of frosts for another couple of months yet, but it does give us a chance to get those building jobs done, which normally get held up by a cold spell.

  • Independent Television Producers in England
Negotiating Dependence: Independent Television Producers in England Karl Rawstrone A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the University of the West of England, Bristol for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries, University of the West of England, Bristol November 2020 77,900 words. Abstract The thesis analyses the independent television production sector focusing on the role of the producer. At its centre are four in-depth case studies which investigate the practices and contexts of the independent television producer in four different production cultures. The sample consists of a small self-owned company, a medium- sized family-owned company, a broadcaster-owned company and an independent- corporate partnership. The thesis contextualises these case studies through a history of four critical conjunctures in which the concept of ‘independence’ was debated and shifted in meaning, allowing the term to be operationalised to different ends. It gives particular attention to the birth of Channel 4 in 1982 and the subsequent rapid growth of an independent ‘sector’. Throughout, the thesis explores the tensions between the political, economic and social aims of independent television production and how these impact on the role of the producer. The thesis employs an empirical methodology to investigate the independent television producer’s role. It uses qualitative data, principally original interviews with both employers and employees in the four companies, to provide a nuanced and detailed analysis of the complexities of the producer’s role. Rather than independence, the thesis uses network analysis to argue that a television producer’s role is characterised by sets of negotiated dependencies, through which professional agency is exercised and professional identity constructed and performed.

  • Conifa Activity Report 2017 Conifa
CONIFA ACTIVITY REPORT 2017 CONIFA Annual activity report for fiscal year 2017 created by the CONIFA Executive Committee. Confederations of Independent Football Associations 8 0 2 4 7 3 - 7572 2017- 12- 18 ACTIVITY REPORT 2017 SUMMARY The fiscal year of 2017 has been the most active uneven year in the history of CONIFA so far. CONIFA grew on all continents, except for the Americas and Oceania, which means that we are more a truly global organization than ever before. Unfortunately, we could still not welcome a Latin American member in CONIFA, which remains the only blank spot on the CONIFA world map. Media-wise 2017 can only be described as a huge success for CONIFA. While the global media buzz about the World Football Cup 2016 could naturally not be repeated entirely, we did still reach millions of people in the world, with a strong focus on Europe, where most major news outlets covered the European Football Cup in Northern Cyprus. The Achilles heel of CONIFA remains its financial sustainability and stability, unfortunately. A growing team of passionate fundraisers inside and outside the Executive Committee were able to establish more valuable links and open many promising talks with potential donors and sponsors, but, even though first sponsorship deals could be signed off, we are still far off from a financial situation reflecting the weight and scale CONIFA has today fairly. The European Football Cup 2017, the highlight of the sporting year 2017 for CONIFA, in Northern Cyprus was a real huge milestone for our European Committee and our European members.
