LAFAYETTE STATISTICS SAINT JOSEPH’S O’Hanlon is the longest-tenured coach in the Patriot League, has won four 5/0 Starters Returning/Lost 2/3 conference titles and owns three NCAA Tournament appearances, including 74.7 72.1 both feats most recently in 2014-15. The native of Philadelphia holds the overall Scoring Average Patriot League record for games coached with 724 and currently sits at 327 72.0 Scoring Defense 78.9 career victories. +2.7 Scoring Margin -6.8 50.8 FG% 38.1 LAST TIME OUT 45.9 FG% Defense 42.9 Fairleigh Dickinson wouldn’t go away against the Leopards on Nov. 24 at Kirby Sports Center, but 41.6 3PT% 30.6 the Leopards made the plays necessary down the stretch to outlast the comeback and pick up an 80-75 victory. 33.1 3PT% Defense 40.3 76.8 FT% 68.6 The win marks the second straight for the Maroon and White, taking 2-of-3 on the three-game 32.5 Rebound Average 39.5 homestand, with a victory over Penn on Nov. 19 (86-75) and a loss to unbeaten Delaware on Nov. 16 29.3 Rebound Against Average 42.9 (81-73). The Leopards closed November with a 4-2 record overall, their best start since a 4-2 November in the 2014-15 campaign. That year, Lafayette won seven of its first nine and finished with a Patriot +3.2 Rebounding Margin -3.4 League title, the most recent for the program. 14.5 Turnover Average 14.0 10.5 Forced Turnovers Avg. 12.3 Junior Justin Jaworski was a big part of the victory on Sunday, finishing one shy of his career-high -4.0 -1.1 with 27 points on 7-of-12 from the field. Jaworski went 11-for-11 from the foul line, one of just seven Turnover Margin players in Kirby Sports Center history to knock down all of their free-throws in a single-game with 1.1 (95/87) Ast./Turn. Ratio 1.0 (112/112) at least 11 attempts. Senior Myles Cherry proved his worth on the block once again with his third double-double of the season, coupling 10 rebounds with 15 points. Sophomore Tyrone Perry knocked down a career-high three triples en route to tying a career-best in back-to-back games with another 12-point effort. Junior E.J. Stephens rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11, going 5-for-6 from the field, including a long jumper out of an inbounds play with less than a minute remaining to keep the Knights at bay. The 80-point performance was the second straight for the Patriot League’s top offense, now averaging 74.7 points per outing. The Leopards also showed off their league-leading field-goal percentage on Sunday, going 29-of-57 from the floor, a 50.9 percent clip. THE SKINNY ON THE KNIGHTS Following a 2-1 start to the season that included impressive victories over Bradley and UConn, Saint Joseph’s has struggled to keep that momentum going, dropping each of its last five games to sit at 2-6 this season. The Hawks began the first of three straight at home on Saturday in a 79-63 loss to St. Francis (Pa.) and dropped all three contests in the Charleston Classic in Charleston, S.C. to LAST MEETING Florida (70-62), Missouri State (71-69) and Towson (76-64). The Hawks are led by Billy Lange in his first season, following a six-year run as an assistant coach with the Saint Joseph’s 92, Lafayette 63 Philadelphia 76ers. Lange is no stranger to the Patriot League as he led the Navy men’s December 22, 2016 | Philadelphia, Pa. basketball program from 2004-11 and was the 2008 Patriot League Coach of the Year.
