CATALOGUE OF RESULTS ART, CRAFT 2018 & COOKERY COMPETITION Conducted by The Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft & Cookery Competition showcases the best home-grown talent from around Australia, attracting over 4,000 entries from more than 900 exhibitors across 300 classes. Entries are showcased at the Spotlight Makers Pavilion exhibition, one of the largest of its kind, attracting thousands of keen spectators during the Royal Melbourne Show. From photography to fashion, embroidery to preserves and decorated cakes, the Art, Craft & Cookery competition encourages creativity and passion at all skill levels. The 2018 Art, Craft & Cookery competition has some fantastic new classes, more than $50,000 in prizes on offer and a host of fun activities to enjoy. What’s New ‘Time to Celebrate’ Grand Culinary Award Everything from birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and graduations - makers mark their milestones 2018 sees the introduction of a brand new prestigious with Art, Craft & Cookery. This year’s competition major award for excellence, chosen from Best in offers several classes inviting exhibitors to enter their Show Cookery, Preserves, Decorated Cakes and creations in response to the theme ‘Time to Celebrate’ Confectionery. Photography capture a moment of celebration The inaugural award is proudly supported by Mckenzie’s Foods with $1000 (1st place), $750 (2nd Crochet Challenge Party Bunting any yarn or stitch place) and $250 (3rd place). New Classes Tea Cosy Collective Art & Craft Join in the fun of this free open class and in doing so help support patients, carers and families coping with Small Sculpture now has a class of its own. Test out dementia. Each tea cosy entered will be matched by a your 3D art skills in any media, Lace Making by Hand monetary donation to Dementia Australia. Vintage Show Challenges Originally known as Women’s Industries, The Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft & Cookery Competition is more than 100 years old. First introduced in 1911 this popular and enduring competition has continued to celebrate achievement and showcase excellence. To celebrate out colourful history you are invited to enter our Vintage Show Challenges Mini Menagerie In 1918 the challenge was on to create a collection or novelties made from stocking or glove tops. What kind of mini menagerie will you create? . Toy for a Teen 1978 saw the rise and eventual domination of the teenager in Australian mainstream culture. This was reflected in the competition where exhibitors were asked to create a toy suitable for a teen’s room. Take inspiration from the swinging 70’s or 2018 in this fabulous design challenge.
