No ovviamente, c’è molto altro! Buona lettura dunque!

International Journal of Contemporary Research and Review ISSN: 0976-4852 CrossRef DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15520/ijcrr/2016/7/12/93. Research Article Checklist of Global Distribution of Tarachodidae and Toxoderidae (Mantodea: Dictyoptera) Shveta Patel, Garima Singh and Rajendra Singh Department of Zoology, Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, U.P Department of Zoology, Rajasthan University, Jaipur, Rajasthan Abstract: Background: The praying mantids (Mantodea: Dictyoptera) are predatory insects they play a very vital role in management of insect population in nature. Familywise distribution pattern of mantids of the world is not compiled so far. The work will help to solve some needs pertaining to studies on world mantids of these families, such as synonymic handling and distributions, as well as the lack of a complete and up-todate listing of the species. Materials & Methods: In preparing of this checklist, recent world literatures (published up to November, 2016) were scrutinized for synonymy of the species along with the information available at two websites (http://mantodea.speciesfile.org and http://www.gbif.org/species) accessed on 25 November, 2016. Results: The praying mantids are a group of over 2641 species of predatory insects (Order Mantodea: Superorder Dictyoptera) distributed in tropical and subtropical habitats of the world, from the rainforest to the desert ground. Currently, the order Mantodea comprises 16 families, out of which the global distribution of 2 families: Tarachodidae and Toxoderidae is provided in this compilation. The family Tarachodidae includes a broad assemblage of 31 genera and 247 species distributed in China, Tropical and subtropical Asia, Indomalaya, Tropical Africa, south-western Europe, and Neotropical USA.

New faunistic records of 10 species of mantids for the fauna of Iran are presented. Seven species- Empusa fasciata , E. hedenborgii , E. pennicornis (Empusidae), Bolivaria brachyptera , Ameles persa (Mantidae), Iris nana , I. polystictica (Tarachodidae) – are new records for the mantid fauna of Iran. Key words: Mantodea, Alborz Mountain, Iranian Plateau, New records INTRODUCTION Mantids (Insecta: Mantodea) generally known as "praying mantids" play an important role in the terrestrial ecosystems helping to control the populations of noxious insect pests. They are predatory insects actively feeding on a variety of other insects like grasshoppers, moths, flies and aphids. They are also well known for their camouflage and mimicry. Despite rich insect fauna in Iran, our knowledge on the diversity and biological attributes of the mantids is far from satisfactory. The fauna of Iranian Mantodea was poorly studied by a few scattered studies (Uvarov 1938, Uvarov & Dirsh 1952, Beier 1956, Mofidi-Neyestanak 2000, 2014, Battiston & Massa 2008, Ghahari et al. 2008, Sakenin et al. 2008a, b & 2011, Morshedi Aghbolagh et al.

Irrigational agriculture and conservation of biodiversity in Dzhankoi District of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Monograph. — Kyiv : Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, 2005. — 106 p. This publication is a result of implementing a part of Ukrainian-Dutch project ‘Towards improved water Management in Ukraine’ (Watermuk), which was aimed at revealing current state and perspectives of irrigation- al farming in Ukraine on the example of Dzhankoi District of the Crimean Autonomous Republic. The monograph is dedicated to the biodiversity of this area. It provides information on the main taxonomic groups of animals and plants; discusses changes in species composition and abundance under the influence of irrigation; identifies the most valuable for conservation of biota areas and measures to be taken in order to protect them. Taking into account that environmental conditions and state of habitats important for species with high conservation status are inseparably linked to the condition of the Sivash as a whole, a lot of attention is given to the problems of sustainable management of this unique waterbody.
