The highlight of this very special pilgrimage will be attending the Oberammergau Passion Play, world renowned for its performance only once each decade. The first Passion Play took place in 1633. In the middle of the Thirty Years War, after months of suffering and death caused by the Bubonic Plague, the villagers vowed to perform the Play of the Suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ every ten years.
