VIRTUAL 2020 Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival
This year marks the 5th annual Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival. While COVID-19 is prohibiting us from gathering in person to celebrate this milestone and enjoy another fun-filled day of racing, music, and friendship, there is still important work to be done.
Please join us for the 2020 VIRTUAL Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival. By signing up for the FREE Virtual Festival, you can help us continue the spirit of the Festival, stay connected with our paddling community, and raise funds to provide critical care patient monitors to meet COVID-19 needs in the Northwoods.
Our Virtual Festival consists of two components:
Spirit Race: Entertaining challenges encourage teams to connect with each other and virtually propel their boat 300 meters. Each paddler on the winning team will earn 2020 Festival pins. Challenges are outlined on the reverse side of this page.
Fundraising Race: Rally the support of friends and family to win prizes including free registration for the 2021Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival and a variety of MDBF logo gear. Funds can be raised by direct contributions and merchandise sales credits.
WHEN? Virtual races take place July 15 - August 13, with a multimedia presentation of awards on Saturday, August 15.
HOW? Paddlers register for free at minocquadragonboat.com and choose to paddle for any team that has raced in any of the past 4 years of Minocqua Dragon Boat Festivals. Virtual dragon boats are much larger than real dragon boats and can be filled with up to 50 participants with no restriction on age and numbers of each gender. If a team’s boat fills, don’t worry-- we’ll add as many boats as a team needs!

300 M SPIRIT RACE
Support a Sponsor Challenge (5 meters)
Drop by one of our sponsors or visit their online stores and snap a picture! Simply up load your photo to our form on the Minocqua Dragon Boat website to launch your boat down the lane.
MDBF Merchandise Purchase Challenge (10 meters)
Gain some new gear or gifts while gaining meters! Do some online shopping on our Minocqua Dragon Boat Square Store and then submit a picture of your receipt to our form on the Minocqua Dragon Boat website to launch your boat forward.
Get Out Into the Community Challenge (15 meters)
Get out and get active! Wearing your Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival gear go for a walk, run, paddle, bike, or however you enjoy getting out.
Get out into your community to make it a better place (examples include picking up trash, donate blood, writing a letter to a friend, donating food, etc) and pose for a photo while you do it! Upload your photos to our form on the Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival website to pull your team to the finish line.
All photos submissions will be frequently posted to the Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival Facebook page and the first team to travel 300 M will win collectible 2020 Festival pins.
FUNDRAISING RACE
At the end of the virtual race, boats will also be ranked by fundraising.
