19 Apr 03 16 Central Highlights • Baghdad – South Baghdad power station on line with two sub stations included – Al Yarmuke Hospital operating again • 1000-bed capacity in central Baghdad • Karbala – 2 hospital assessments • One in very good shape, the other has many needs
19 Apr 03 17 Central Highlights • Ad Diwaniyah – Establishing police force – Hospitals “doing ok” • 400 beds, 50 doctors and nurses • Needs security, fuel for generators, oxygen – Shops open; ice and vegetables for sale – Majority of people do not need food • Reports that all families have 2-month stock-pile

• Al Hillah – Water on in most of city – Expect at least 90% will have power tomorrow – Police chief reports 250 officers at work – Automobile fuel resupply unavailable – Will reopen schools when cleared of weapons caches, explosive hazards

• Al Qa’im – Water treatment plant operating, though water quality suspect due to plant maintenance needs – 1500 kW generator operating at 20% due to low natural gas pressure – Three room hospital has 1 doctor, no supplies
